We are Moorfields Eye Hospital. We give people eye care. We also look into new ideas for eye care and teach people about eye care. We work in the UK and around the world. This is our plan for the next 5 years. It will help everyone:

We believe that people’s eyesight is very important. We should think about what people who need eye care want and need first.

To give everyone the best eye care we should:

think about what everyone with eye problems needs.

This means people who have lost their sight and people with other eye problems.

find the best ways to work with and support our patients. And be ready to change this if we need to.

To give everyone the best eye care we should:

think about other things that a person may need to be healthy, apart from eye care.

keep working together with our patients, staff and other people.

This will help us find better ways to care for people’s eyes.

find and use new technology to help us with our work.

Technology is things like computers and equipment.

be ready for big changes in the UK and the world.

give people really good care that people around the world will know about.

There are 8 main things that we want to make happen. They start below. We will work with our staff and patients to make plans about each thing. And we will check how we are doing with this work.

1. We will give people the best care we can

We want people to get the right care for them at the right time. We will work with other health and care people to make this happen.

We want people to choose Moorfields Eye Hospital for their eye care. We want them to be very happy with the care we give them.

2. We will work with others on exciting new ideas about eye care

It is important that we keep finding new ways to treat eye problems and to stop eye problems from happening. We will work with patients, staff and other people on this. We will also learn how to support people who have lost their sight in the best way. We will share what we have found out. And we will learn from others.

3. We will help people learn important things about eye care

We will help people share good information and learn from each other. For example, some patients and staff may want to learn new things and share them with other people. We will give students the best education to help them give good eye care in the future.

4. We will help make good plans about healthcare in the UK

This could be new rules about how health staff should work and other important decisions.

We will work with the Government and other organisations to do this. We will tell our patients, staff and other people what we do. And we will help them have a say in this work.

5. We will have very good staff and be a good place to work

We will keep getting very good people to work for us. They will have good skills and want to give people the best care. We also want to be a good place to work. We want to help our staff and volunteers learn new skills and do well.

6. We will use new ideas and do our work in the best way

We will use new ideas and technology to help our patients, staff and other people we work with. We will work and make decisions in a good way. We will make sure we have the things that our patients and staff need. We will be caring. And we will welcome everyone’s questions and ideas.

7. We will use our money in the best way

We will know what money we have and how best to spend it. We will have money left over to spend on making our care better. We will tell patients and staff about money decisions that affect them.

8. We will do well and make more money to help us with our work

Some people pay for the care we give them. This is called private care.

We also work with other organisations around the world. We find out new ideas and teach people important things about eye care. We also want to work with new organisations that can support us. All of these things will help us:
