Our Country
Poland is a country inthe very centre of
Europe with the capital in Warsaw and border
boundaries with Belarus, Czech Republic,
Germany, Lithuania , Russia, Slovakia and
Ukraine. The populationof Poland is over 38
million.
Poland is an ancient nation that was conceived near the middle of the
10th century.
Its golden age occurred in the 16th century.
In a series of agreements between 1772 and 1795, Russia, Prussia, and Austria partitioned Poland amongst
themselves. Poland dissapearedfrom the map of Europe.
Our country regained its independence after 123 years, in
1918 only to be overrun by Germany and the Soviet Union in World War
II. After the war it became a Soviet satellite state.
Labour turmoil in 1980 led to the formation of the independent trade
union "Solidarity" that over time became a political force and by
1990 Poland freed itself from theSoviet ruling and became
a democracy.
Over years Poland hasbeen a multiculturalcountry with many
different nations, many faiths and many
historical places…
Breathtaking landskapes are also part
of our country…
Coming back to earth…

primary school (6 years), junior high school (3 years), high school (2-4 years) and post-graduated schools (3-6 years).

In the new system, 1 is the failing grade, 2 to 5 are normal passing grades, and 6 means that the student exceeded the
expectations.

5-very good

It is also a city in the very heartof Poland that combines
elements of 4 cultures: Polish, Russian, German and Jewish…
What is more, it is a city withmany easily recognizable
