OUR LADY’S ACADEMY NEWS

Pre-K 4B News and Reminders—Part I

The year continues to rush by much too quickly. I can’t believe it’s almost May! Your children continue to grow and

mature as they discover new friendships and learn new concepts.

Spring is a time of re-birth and re-awakening in nature. It is also a wonderful time to

begin our study of animals by focusing on birds, eggs and nests. On a beautiful spring

day recently the class went on a Nature Walk around the school to collect materials for

our nest building project. We used paper lunch bags, leaves, twigs and feathers to create

beautiful and unique bird’s nests. We read the books See How They Grow: Chick by

Angela Royston and A Chicken’s Life by Nancy Dickmann. The children learned about

the life-cycle of a chicken and why eggs have to be kept warm before they hatch. This

also helped them to understand the importance of building a safe and secure nest. Their creations will be on display

in our special nest area on top of the train table in the classroom. To see more pictures of our nature walk go to:

http://teacherweb.com/MA/OurLadysAcademy/Pre-K4B/viewauthorize/gallery3.aspx and type in prekindergarten4b.

ST. ANTHONY AND ST. THERESE OF LISIEUX CANDLE STANDS

We are sure by now you have seen the new candle stands for St. Anthony and St. Therese of Lisieux. These

stands were funded from the church building fund. Below are some before and after photos. What a

difference.

Kaito Paul Dunn, a second grader from Our Lady’s

Academy was baptized and received into the Catholic

Church on April 26 at Our Lady’s. Kaito is among several

Our Lady’s Academy students who have sought on their

own to become Catholic.

MARIAN CANDLE LIGHT ROSARY SERVICE

FRIDAY, MAY 22 at 6:30pm

The prayer service will be approximately 45 minutes and will include

recitation of the rosary, singing of hymns to Mary and weather

permitting, a procession to Our Lady’s statue outside the church. We

invite you to join us for prayer in honor of Our Blessed Mother.

CATECHISM CORNER

The Knowledge of God According to the Church

Man is by nature and vocation a religious being.

Coming from God, going toward God, man lives a fully

human life only if he freely lives by his bond with God.

When he listens to the message of creation and to the

voice of conscience, man can arrive at certainty about

the existence of God, the cause and the end of

everything. The Church teaches that the one true God,

our Creator and Lord, can be known with certainty from

his works, by the natural light of human reason.

“Without the Creator, the creature vanishes.” This is the

reason why believers know that the love of Christ urges

them to bring the light of the living God to those who do

not know him or who reject him.

“Building the Domestic Church:

The Family Fully Alive”

St John Paul II stated “The family has the mission to

guard, reveal, and communicate love.” In our effort to

support families in bringing the blessings of faith into

their homes, the Knights of Columbus has launched an

initiative entitled: “Building the Domestic Church: The

Family Fully Alive.” Through this program, our families

can realize more fully their mission to Love as an

authentic domestic church through daily prayer,

catechesis and Scripture reading, as well as enjoying time

together through monthly activities and projects they can

do as a family.

For more info on monthly themed "Family Fully Alive"

activities leading up to the 2015 World Meeting of

Families, check the bulletin and the Family Fully Alive

table at main entrance of the church or go to:
