April 12th, , 2020 · Easter Sunday

Dear Parishioners,

Happy Easter to everyone! Today we celebrate Christ’s glorious Resurrection. Jesus has conquered sin and

death by His own death and Resurrection. Sadly, this year we will not be able to celebrate Our Lord’s Resur-

rection as a parish community.

As of this time, in light of directives from President Trump and Governor Evers, Archbishop Listecki has ex-

tended the suspension of public Masses through May 3 (but this is a current estimate which could change;

public Masses may resume after May 3). Also, the Archbishop has granted a dispensation from attending

Sunday Mass for anyone who fears contracting the virus, through May 31.

Father McDermott and I are praying for you, and look forward to being able to celebrate public Masses once

again. In the meantime, we must be patient and make the best of this difficult situation.

Please remember that every Sunday is the Lord’s Day in which we celebrate Christ’s Resurrection; so try

your best to keep Sunday as a Holy Day, praying and worshipping God. TV Sunday Masses areon EWTN

(ordinary form) on cable or through streaming services such as ROKU or through this Internet link:

ewtn.com/tv/weekly-grid; also St. John Cantius offers both the ordinary & extraordinary [Latin] form at

https://www.cantius.org/go/news/detail/live_stream_of_masses/.

We urge you to pray the Rosary daily; try to pray it together as a family, or as a married couple. Doing so

will bring you many blessings and great peace during this trying time. Pray especially for all those who are

suffering from the virus, for health care workers, and for those not working at this time.

For those who are reading this bulletin online before Easter Sunday, I’ll remind you (as I said in my letter)

that on Easter Sunday the church, decorated for Easter, will be open for prayer from 8-10am for anyone who

would like to make a visit and offer a prayer to Our Risen Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament. Also, we will

distribute blessed palms at a later time.

We have an Easter GIFT for every household - the newly-published book Consecration to St. Joseph by Fr.

Donald Calloway, MIC, in which he explains the great holiness of St. Joseph (second in holiness only to the

Virgin Mary): as the foster/virgin father of Jesus, the husband of Mary, the head of the Holy Family & the

Patron of the Universal Church, and why we should call upon him at this time to intercede for us and our

families. You may pick up a copy of this book at the parish office or at church when Masses resume.

And again, a gentle reminder: While our Masses are temporarily suspended, our bills have not ceased! We

ask for your generous support. You may bring your envelope to the church office, or mail in your donation.

As I said in my letter mailed to every household (which you should have received by now), we are making

available to all of our parishioners the opportunity to make your donations to the parish electronically:

If you wish to have funds electronically transferred from your bank (from either your savings account or

your checking account), you may do so by using the form enclosed with the letter I mailed - just fill it out and

mail it to the parish.

A BIG THANKS to all who have been donating to the parish these past few weeks. We are deeply grateful!

Sincerely yours in the Hearts of Jesus, Mary & Joseph,

Fr. Dwight Campbell & Fr. Robert McDermott

Poetry for Easter

The Baker-Woman

by Marie Noel (1883-1967)

The baker-woman in her humble lodge

Received the grain of wheat from God,

For nine whole months the grain she stored;

Behold the handmaid of the Lord.

Make us the bread, Mary, Mary,

Make us the bread, we need to be fed.

For thirty coins the bread was sold,

And a thousand teeth, so cold, so cold,

Tore it to pieces on a Friday noon

When the sun turned black and red the moon.

Break us the bread, Mary, Mary,

Break us the bread, we need to be fed.

But the baker-woman’s only son

Appeared to his friends when three days had run,

On the road which to Emmaus led,

And they knew him in the breaking of bread.

Lift up your head, Mary, Mary,

Lift up your head, for now we’ve been fed.

Easter Wings

by George Herbert (1593-1633)

Lord, who createdst man in wealth and store,

Though foolishly he lost the same,

Decaying more and more

Till he became

Most poore:

With the

O let me rise

As larks, harmoniously,

And sing this day thy victories:

Then shall the fall further the flight in me.

My tender age in sorrow did beginne

And still with sicknesses and shame.

Thou didst so punish sinne,

That I became

Most thinne.

With thee

Let me combine,

And feel thy victorie:

For, if I imp my wing on thine,

Affliction shall advance the flight in me.

Stella Coeli Prayer in Time of Pestilence

The Star of Heaven that nourished the Lord

drove away the plague of death which the first

parents of man brought into the world. May

this bright Star now vouchsafe to extinguish

that foul constellation whose battles have

slain the people with the wound of death.

O most pious Star of the Sea, preserve us from

pestilence; hear us, O Lady, for Thy Son honours

Thee by denying Thee nothing. Save us, O Jesus,

for whom Thy Virgin Mother supplicates Thee.

V: Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.

R: That we may be made worthy of the promises of

Christ.

Let us pray

O God of mercy, God of pity,

God of benign clemency,

Thou Who hast had compassion

on the affliction of Thy people,

and hast said to the angel striking them,

“Stop thy hand;”

for the love of this glorious Star,

whose breasts Thou didst sweetly drink

as antidote for our crimes,

grant the assistance of Thy grace,

that we may be safely freed

from all pestilence, and from unprovided death;

and mercifully save us

from the gulf of eternal perdition:

through Thee,

Lord Jesus Christ, King of Glory,

who livest and reignest,

world without end. Amen.
