Go, Therefore, and Make Disciples of All Nations – The history of missionary activity in the Church is vibrant and fascinating. From the Apostles who first heeded the call of Jesus to “Go and make disciples of all nations” to famous missionaries like Saint Francis Xavier and the Jesuits or Saint Teresa of Calcutta and the Missionaries of Charity, there is a long tradition of those who have traveled far from home to bring the good news of Jesus to every corner of the world, even at the cost of their own lives. Today, the missionary work of the Church doesn’t have to take us to the ends of the world, but just to the end of our street. The message of hope and new life of the Gospel is ours to share with family, neighbors, co-workers and strangers as we seek to continue the work of Jesus in the world today. At its heart, On Mission for The Church Alive! is an opportunity for us to be renewed in faith and sent forth to make new disciples in our parishes, our neighborhoods and throughout the whole world. Ask God for an abundance of his gifts to make this a reality in your life each day. Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.

Memorial Day Mass

This Monday, May 28th we invite you to begin your Memorial Day by celebrating the Eucharist at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Please bring your lawn chairs if you are unable to stand the entire time. The Mass will begin in the Cemetery Chapel at 9:00 a.m.. We give honor to all our veterans, liv-ing and deceased. We take a moment to remember those who gave their lives to preserve the freedoms and liberties we are blessed with, and thank them for their service in defending our country. May the Lord bless them and keep them safe in times of war and peace. The Parish Office will be closed on Monday, May 28th.

Flea Market

It’s that time of the year again as we are getting ready to begin accepting donations for the annual Our Lady of Fatima Gigantic Flea Market. First day of collec-tion is Tuesday, June 12th at Kohler Hall. We will collect on Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 12th through July 3rd, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and on Saturdays – June 16th, 23th, and 30th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Our last collection day will be Tuesday, July 3rd . Please make sure all donations are clean and in good condi-

tion. Your donations make the flea market a huge success every year. Don’t forget, this is a major fundraiser for the church. Thank you in advance for all your donations. Unfortunately, we cannot accept car seats, TV’s or computer monitors. We could also use your help. We need volunteers to collect, price and sort on the days we collect. Please stop up at Kohler Hall and give us a few hours of your time. We will also need help on the days of our Sale, July 7th and 8th, and July 13th,14th and 15th. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help us out, please call Eileen at 724-375-2140, Donna at 724-378-3093, or Mary at 724-378-1845. Keep those treasures coming.

EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP - RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS

My wife and I have used the same baptismal gown for all 3 of our children. It is a very long traditional gown made with fabric taken from my wife's first communion dress and my mother-in-law's wedding gown. It is a symbol not just of each child being washed clean by the sacrament, but also of family and how faith has been passed down through generations. Faith is a gift and that gown shows how this family has taken seriously the cultivation of that faith and the sharing of it

with those we love the most. By our baptism we are called to a discipleship that compels us to share our faith with others. It is not always easy, but it would be wrong to horde that faith and not let it shine for others to see. When we think about a stewardship way of life, we sometimes focus on material goods, our talents and skills, or our time. But faith is a gift that needs to be treated in a

similar way. We are heirs with Jesus Christ to this rich tapestry of faith and the Church. If all of us were to hide that faith and not seek to share it with others, that lineage would end with us.

We live during a time in history where in some lands people are finding Jesus in huge numbers, while in other places the numbers of people in the pews is declining sharply. We can spend all our time talking about these realities or we can

choose to respond to our baptismal call. Jesus commanded us to go forth and make disciples of all nations. Maybe we can begin with our neighbor. --Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS

PARISH NEWS

When I was assigned KP duty, I reported to the Mess Hall and

was told by the sergeant that he wanted me to make 100 gallons of soup for dinner. I told him I didn't know how to make soup.

He quickly handed me a book and told me to follow the direc-

tions carefully. Soon after I had a large kettle of soup simmer-

ing. The sergeant tasted the soup. He took a second spoonful and

stood there staring at me. I thought I had really messed up and

was waiting for a reprimand. Instead the sergeant said, "This tastes really good... are you sure you followed the recipe?"
