Please bring store bought cookies to the Church office before April 25th for the Lake Correctional Institute Prison Ministry Retreat. Pray for all the retreat participates and volunteers, the retreat is April 26-29 at the Prison. The cookies are enjoyed during the weekend retreat breaks. We always welcome volunteers to help with this ministry, monetary donations are accepted, call Mark Stephenson 953-2148 with any questions. Thank you for supporting the Prison Ministry.

Have you visited the Our Lady of Grace Gift Shop lately? We have so many new things to help on your faith journey. The gift shop is open after every Mass during the weekend, Yes, even after the 6:00 PM Mass on Sunday night! It is run by the Council of Catholic Women. The store generally carries sacra-mental items like First Communion, Baptism, and Confirmation. We have a large array of Children’s books in both English and Spanish to help children understand things like the sacraments and read about the lives of saints. We have a nice collection of ro-saries, statues, crucifixes and Bibles! We have many other things too. If you don’t find an item, ASK, we might be able to order it for you. Come take a look. You will be glad you did!

Invitation to Join the Servites (Secular Order of Servants of Mary) Have you ever sensed a calling to serve the Lord? Striving to live their baptism promise more fully, members of the Secular Order of the Servants of Mary (Servites) are active at Our Lady of Grace. The parish, in fact, was founded by Servite priests. The order was started by seven lay men from wealthy families in Italy during the Renaissance. Under the direction of the Blessed Mother, they gave up their wealth and banded together to help the poor, suffering and hungry, to pray and experience fellowship. The Secular Servite community meets once a month on the second Saturday at 10:30 AM in the Servite Center. Members begin with prayer, listen to a researched presentation about the order or the Catholic faith, have a discussion, a short business meeting and share a pot luck lunch. All are invited. Ozanam Sunday—Frederic Ozanam was born on April 23, 1813 in Milan, Italy. On April 23, 1833 Frederic and six companions founded the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Also, St. Vincent de Paul was born on April 24, 1581. To commemorate these events, the U.S. Society of St. Vincent de Paul cele-brates the last Sunday of April as Ozanam Sunday. Our SVDP will be speaking at all Masses next week-end to share their work accomplishments these last 6 months. The Society really appreciates all that our parish does for them. Domingo Ozanam —Frederic Ozanam nació el 23 de abril de 1813 en Milán, Italia. El 23 de abril de 1833, Frederic y cinco acompañantes fundaron la Sociedad de San Vicente de Paúl. También, San Vicente de Paúl nació el 24 de abril,1581. En conmemoración a estos eventos, la Sociedad de San Vicente de Paúl de Estados Unidos celebra el último domingo de abril como el Domingo Ozanam. El próximo fin de semana, miembros de nuestro SVDP se estarán dirigiendo a nosotros en todas las Misas, compartiendo los logros de su trabajo en estos últimos seis meses. La Sociedad aprecia grandemente todo lo que nuestra parroquia hace por ellos.

SAVED BY THE ONE WHO WAS REJECTED Some city teenagers often scorn and reject farm kids. Yet it’s no exaggeration to say that humanity owes its life to farmers who care for the world’s crops and live-stock. This week’s scriptures remind us that Jesus was as rejected as a shepherd, a farm boy, yet we owe our very lives to him. In this Sunday’s reading from the Acts of the Apos-tles Peter tells the people that salvation comes through Jesus Christ, the one who was rejected. In John’s letter we hear that we have become God’s beloved children through Jesus, whom the world did not know. Lastly, in the Gospel Jesus describes himself as the Good Shep-herd who “lays down his life for the sheep” (John 10:11). Will you join Jesus in laying down your life for God’s beloved flock? SALVADOS POR AQUEL QUE FUE RECHAZADO Algunos adolescentes de la ciudad suelen menos-preciar y rechazar a los chicos del campo. Sin embargo, no sería una exageración decir que la humanidad les de-be la vida a los agricultores que cuidan los cultivos y el ganado por todo el mundo. La Sagrada Escritura para esta semana nos recuerda que Jesús fue rechazado como pastor, como chico del campo, sin embargo, a él le debe-mos la vida. En la lectura de los Hechos de los Apóstoles de este domingo, Pedro les dice a las personas que la salvación viene por Jesucristo, que fue rechazado y crucificado. En la carta del apóstol san Juan escuchamos que nos hemos convertido en los hijos amados de Dios por Jesús, a quien el mundo no conoció. Por último, en el Evangelio Jesús se describe como el buen Pastor: “yo doy la vida por las ovejas” (Juan 10:11). ¿Te unirás a Jesús para dar tu vida por el rebaño amado de Dios? Copyright © J. S.
