Our Lady of Grace
January Gazette
Welcome back everyone. I would like to wish you and your family a Happy New Year and a New Year filled with new beginnings and opportunities.
A prayer for the beginning of a New Year—Welcome 2017
Lord God, At the beginning of this January 2017 teach us to be your hands and feet where we are. At the beginning of this January 2017
teach us to love as you love us. At the beginning of this January 2017 teach us to
pray for those in need.
So that You are honoured and glorified. Amen

With the beginning of the New Year it is a good time for us to refresh our spirits. Many people make New Year’s Resolutions which are promises to themselves to be better people. This month our Virtue is : Justice. Let’s all think
about the things we can do in our lives to try to be more like Jesus.
Our Lady of Grace Catholic School will be celebrating mass on: Thursday, January 19th, 2017at 11:15. Please feel welcome to join us for our school mass. We would like to say a big thank you to Father Kenney and Father Scott for being so kind, caring and taking the time to teach us all on our faith journey. We would also like to thank our altar
servers and school choir for all the preparations and all community parish members who attend. Wishing everyone a
Happy New Year!!

he received his sight and followed him on the way.” Mark 10:52
Winter Weather
On cold winter days, it is important for students to come to school dressed appropriately
(winter jacket, hats, mitts, snow pants, boots, etc…) Generally speaking, if the tempera-
ture is below –20 degrees Celsius (including wind chill), the students will either stay inside or else
have a shortened period of time outside. Temperature readings are based on the radio broad-
cast as well as the Weather Network website for Pembroke. Clearly, if the temperature at a partic-
ular recess is in the –20s or in the –30s, the students will stay indoors on an
inclement weather schedule.
It is C-C-C-Cold outside…. Dress warm!!

Congratulations to all students and staff who
worked so hard to put on an excellent show. A special
thanks also goes to everyone for the time and effort they
put into directing, costumes and set design. It was a
successful concert! Thank you for the community support!
Skating Rink Information
Once again, we will be taking advantage of the Westmeath Skating Rink in 2017 as part of our physical education classes. Students have been enjoying skating at the rink. We would like to thank Mel and all the rink staff for providing a great facility for us to use. A friendly reminder to all students that helmets and mitts/gloves must be worn by all who are skating . Skates being transported by bus to and from school must be safely stored in a durable bag. Please let the school know if you need assistance—we have extra skates.
Please note: We are working on arranging some amazing sessions with Perfect Skating from 2pm-3pm in the New Year. Check it out online: Kyle Allard—Perfect Skating!!
