Greetings everyone!

This week we passed the soil compaction engineer and the city in-

spector so that we could pour concrete yesterday, Saturday. We are

so grateful to be on the road to completion of the Chapel. It has

been a long road from the fire last December. The next piece is the

framing of the expansion.

Thank you for your support and patience as we addressed all the

various stages of the restoration and expansion.

Today is our first fundraiser in place of the Fiesta. I am grateful to all

who are working hard to make the fundraisers successful. Be sure to

follow the bulletins for all the dates and activities as we continue

these new endeavors.

Sister Lydia, Teresa Fandel, and I will be in Cottonwood, Idaho for the

“Oblate Futuring Symposium” from October 6-14. Please keep the

entire Symposium in your prayers as we meet and listen to how God,

St. Benedict, and St. Scholastica are calling both Benedictine vowed

members and Oblate members to live the Benedictine charisms in

the present and future. This is an exciting time for all of us.

Blessings always,

Sister Linda Campbell, OSB, Prioress

Saintly Wisdom

“I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be

no more hurt, only more love.” Saint Mother Teresa

Oblate Life

Oblates bind themselves by an act of oblation, or "gift" to God. This oblation is a promise, not a vow, to live according to the Rule St. Benedict wrote in the 6th century. Oblates have a strong desire to find God and experience a fuller Chris-tian life by living according to the spirit of the Rule. The oblation is a free gift to God made through the monastery with which the are affiliated. The oblates are responsible for their own Christian and spiritual life and receive periodic guid-ance by attending monthly meetings which include spiritual instruction.

Benedictine oblate life is primarily a spiritual life. The Rule of St. Benedict provides the guide for oblate life. The key to this life is found in Benedict's advice, "That God may be glorified in all things" (RB 57:9). For the oblate, all things really means all things: Prayer, work, studies, church, recreation, family, friends, and even enemies. The oblate truly seeks God in every aspect of everyday life.

Oblate life is formed in and around this monastery and thus shares in the prayer, work, love and commitment of the com-munity. By being part of the Benedictine community, the oblate is supported to live more fully the Christian life.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery Oblates are many; please see any of us if you have questions or see Sisters Linda and Lydia about becoming one.

Prayer Corner

Prayer to Saint Scholastica

O God, to show us where innocence leads, you made the

soul of your virgin Saint Scholastica soar to heaven like a

dove in flight. Grant through her merits and her prayers

that we may so live in innocence as to attain to joys ever-

lasting. This we ask through our Lord.

We pray for the homeless and the hungry.

We pray for all who have suffered sexual assault.

We pray for those working on the construction of the Chap-

el.

We pray for those in Indonesia who suffered death and inju-

ry during the earthquake and tsunami.

**Pray for each other, it is our greatest gift to others.**

Expansion of southwest wall where fire occurred.

This will take approximately 11 x 13 ft of the

porch to the inside of the chapel.

The East wall of the chapel will be ex-

tended approximately 20 x 33 ft into the

chapel.

The memorial bricks were not disturbed.

East side expansion from south view.

Keep all in your prayers as we complete the chapel:

All workers

All City inspectors

All who are donating their time, energy, and talent

All who are supporting our endeavor to complete the

Monastery.

May each one be blessed abundantly!

In the midst of the struggles, chaos, and difficulties in our society, world,

family and neighborhoods...let us rely on God’s mercy, compassion, love,

and forgiveness that all may come to peace within and share that with all

whom we meet along the way. God’s miracles are taking place each day,

sometimes we are too busy to recognize the small miracles and blessings

that occur to us throughout the day...we are a blessed people...let us give

thanks. Do an act of kindness for someone that you do not agree with or

have difficulty with...this will change the world.
