LITURGY CORNER“Blessed are those who mourn,

f or they will be comforted.” If you struggle with how to help someonewho’s coping with the death of a loved one,

you aren’t alone. Here are some practical and helpfulsuggestions to keep in mind to help those who are grieving. 1. Express your sympathy, but don’t tell them how to feel

2. Be patient. Grieving a significant loss takes time 3. Understand that their grief is unique. 4. Help them findresources and support. 5. Be sensitive around special dates. 6. Let them share their feelings and cry with you. 7. Offerpractical help. 8. Keep the support coming. 9. Allow them toreminisce. 10. Pray for them. FAITH AT HOMEOne of the easiest things to do is identifyinconsistency and hypocrisy in others. One ofthe most difficult things to do is see

inconsistency and hypocrisy in ourselves. Adults: Whatwould it take for me to look at myself, especially myreligious commitments, with unflinching honesty anddirectness? What would foster that? What would impedeit? Children: How can I make sure that I do what Godwants me to do and not just what I want to do? A FamilyPerspective: Jesus knew that God’s most important law isto love people and reminds us that God is our mostimportant teacher. Think about who you know that notonly teaches being good, but also practices being good.As a family, think of ways to “teach” being good to allthose who are in our lives.

Dear friends,

Many parishioners have told me that they enjoy reading the weekly article in the Bulletin. I amglad you like to read it and become aware of what’s going on in our Parish. Sometimes people come onSundays and they don’t know anything beyond the Sunday Mass. With the weekly article I intend tokeep you aware of what we do as a community of faith. Not only are our own parishioners reading theBulletin, but also our visitors. Approximately 2 weeks ago I wrote about all the repairs that we have todo to keep our buildings in good shape in the present and for the future. I said that there was a leak inthe roof and that we had to rent a lift to fix and clean gutters and solve the problem with the leak. Aweek later I received a card with a donation from parishioners of St. Rose of Lima who are friends ofDeacon Kamil and came here to visit him on Sunday. They read the Bulletin and became aware of whatwe were dealing with. I thanked them for their generosity on your behalf. This tells me that the time Ispend writing the articles is time well spent.

By the way, gutters are clean around all the buildings and leaks at the church and parish centerare fixed. Let’s hope to have a good roof for 100 years more! Now there is another problem with theheating system of the school building. There are also leaks in the pipes and that causes a lot ofdamage to the boiler. We are investigating more about it to make the right decision which will take timeand money. It never ends! It is always good to count on your support and prayers.

On Wednesday night we met with the Finance Council. They are wonderful people who are veryhelpful. They really want to see our parish improve in every way. They are aware of all the repairs andtogether we are trying to make the right decisions for the future of our parish. Thank you to all themembers of the Finance Council of our parish.

November the first was a holyday of obligation. We had 3 Masses here in our parish for peopleto fulfill this obligation. The Solemnity of All Saints is a beautiful feast that reminds us that we are allcalled to be saints, holy people chosen by Our Lord to be with Him eternally in the Father’s house. Many people came to celebrate this beautiful feast. I encourage you to make an effort to participate inthose celebrations in addition to the regular Sunday Masses. These are special liturgies in which wehave the opportunity to grow in faith and spirituality as disciples of the Lord and, at the same time, theykeep us united as One Universal Church.

We also had a special Mass to pray for our faithful departed on Thursday, Nov 2nd. This is theday the Church commemorates All Souls. It is also a beautiful celebration which keeps us together, theliving and the dead, as just one Church. This is the mystery of the “communion of saints” that we pray inthe Creed and celebrate every Sunday at Mass. We are all united in love and faith as one family. Wepray for our faithful departed and they intercede for us before the Lord. At that Mass we also thankedGod for the lives of all the members of our parish who have died. I am sure they watch us from Heavenand intercede for our parish community. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departedthrough the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

May God bless you all,

Fr. Roberto
