Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish at Our Lady

of Loreto Church PRAYER FOR PARISH SPIRITUAL RENEWAL

Lord God, You love us with an everlasting love, and You

choose us to share Your love with others. We ask that You rekindle in our hearts a new spirit of faith, of prayer and of reconciliation. Inspire us to search out and find ways of bringing one another closer to You. We pray for all who form our parish communi-ty, that we remain faithful to Your teaching, that we remain steadfast in our prayer, both personal and

communal, that together with You and the Holy Spir-it, our parish may be renewed and transformed. All this we ask in the name of Jesus and through the

power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Please cut out and pray daily.

OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL PARISH RECREATION CENTER

Mount Carmel center will officially close on Friday, March 30, 2018. After that date, no further events or meetings will be held there. The building will eventually be torn down, but not imme-diately. A number of people and families purchased stone plaques located on the walls of the gym. If families or individu-als wish to save those plaques, please call the parish office at 508-753-5001 with the name listed on the plaque. There will be a fee of $50 to have the plaque removed. The work will be done by a private contractor. Plaques not claimed will be disposed of. It is difficult to say goodbye to a facility which held so many happy memories for us as a parish community and the city and surrounding towns, as well. But we have to move for-ward as a parish family and deal with the reality that presents itself. I am grateful for the support of so many and I ask for your continued prayers. Monsignor Pedone

Lenten Prayer

Lord, you remained in constant communion with God in prayer. Spending time with God is not something I am in the habit of doing every day. My life is too busy. When I list all the things I need to do, prayer is not at the top of the list. I make time to shop, to work out, to go out to eat, to be with friends and to watch my favorite televi-sion program. I know it is impossible to be a loving, kind, forgiving and merciful person without a strong prayer life. Lord, slow me down so that I will take time to be with you in prayer. Help me to experience the joy and peace that come from a closer relationship with you. Nourish me with your daily bread of love and compas-sion. Amen Fr. Warren J. Savage

Saint Joseph, Illustrious Descendant of David, Husband of the Mother of God, Foster-father of the Son of God, in a dream you received from the Almighty the task of taking Mary as your wife and Jesus as your Son, conceived from the Holy Spirit, and of caring for them in the difficult beginnings of the New Covenant. COLD AND FLU SEASON

The flu has affected many people, not only in our area but throughout the country, causing several deaths. The flu and colds can be often spread by touch. To lessen the risk of catching the flu, I suggest that during the Sign of Peace, you simply nod or wave to the persons around you rather than shake hands. At the end of Mass, I and the deacons will simply nod or wave to you instead of a handshake until this season of cold and flu passes. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

Mt. Carmel @ Loreto Unplugged

What are you doing for Lent? Lent is about conversion - turning our lives over more completely to Christ and his way of life. Conversion means leaving behind an old way of living and acting in order to embrace new life in Christ. We are all busy and it is hard to imagine adding anything to our lives. But how about taking something away? We invite you to join us on Saturday, March 24 from 2 - 4 pm to “unplug.” Unplug all your cell phones, I Pads, iPods, computers, televisions, radios, etc. and try to relax. Take this time to focus on family and prayer. The family that prays together, stays together. If that day doesn’t work for you and your family, choose a dif-ferent day. What a wonderful way to put ourselves in the right frame of mind for Holy Week.

UNPLUG!
