LITURGY OF THE WORD
First Reading...............................................................Isaiah 61:1-3abcd, 6ab, 8c-9
A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me; He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the lowly, to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives and to release to the prisoners. To announce a year of favor from the Lord and a day of vindication by our God, to comfort all who mourn; To place on those who mourn in Zion, a diadem instead of ashes, To give them oil of gladness in place of mourning, a glorious mantle instead of a listless Spirit. You yourselves shall be named priests of the Lord, ministers of our God you shall be called. I will give them their recompense faithfully, a lasting covenant I will make with them. Their descendants shall be renowned among the nations, andtheiroffspringamongthepeoples; all who see them shall acknowledge them as a race the Lord has blessed.
The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Second Reading.......................................................................Corinthians 12:4-13
A reading from the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians.
Brothers and Sisters: Therearedifferentkindsof SpiritualgiftsbutthesameSpirit; therearedifferentformsof servicebutthesameLord; therearedifferentworkingsbutthesameGod who produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit isgivenforsomebenefit. To one is given through the Spirit the expression of wisdom; another the expression of knowledge according to the same Spirit; another faith by the same Spirit; another gifts of healing by the one Spirit; another mighty deeds; another prophecy; another discernment of spirits; another varieties of tongues; But one and the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing them individually to each person as he wishes. As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit.
The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Gospel............................................................................................Luke 4:16:22a
The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke. Glory to you, O Lord.
Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom into the synagogue on the sabbath day. He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Jesus unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.
Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down, and eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.
He said to them, “Todaythisscripturepassageisfulfilledinyourhearing.” And all spoke highly of him and were amazed at the gracious word that came from his mouth.
The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
