PENTECOST SUNDAY
So many of you who are married have experienced the great transition in life from being single to being a couple, and then having your first child. The first child marks that passage into the beginning of “family life”. From that point on, you are building a family, a future, and most of you would protect that family, even with your life! This feast of Pentecost marks a similar moment. It is the moment when “the family of the Church” is born. The disciples now form a family whose task it is to work together to build the future. The Spirit forces them out of their fear, aloneness, and tepidness and thrust them into the crowded world. From that point on, they boldly proclaim the message of Jesus, no matter what the consequences. Of course, the consequence for most of them was martyrdom. The results have been stunning, and today there are hundreds of millions of Christians in every corner of our world.
This Sunday we open our hearts and invite this same Spirit of fire and courage to enter us once again. If your faith has become a bit solitary, tepid, or even fear-filled, then invite that Spirit to enter you during this Sunday’s liturgy. Hopefully you will leave church, like the first disciples, a changed and renewed person and a vibrant member of the “family of God”…..maybe even “on fire” for the Lord!

Party by the Pool….Thank you Knights of Columbus - Thank you all who participated and even brought a “pot luck” dish to our Party by the Pool last Saturday night. It was great to see everyone. We give the Knights a big “Thank You” for organizing the party in celebration of their five year anniversary at Our Lady of the Desert!
Building Our Faith – Building Our Church - The construction crew moved the cactus this week from the front of the church! They will put the new safety door into the south side of the church. Your generosity is making all this possible and much much more. Thank You!
The fundraising for the matching $100,000 grant will continue throughout the construction period. So you have time if you need to rearrange some of your funds. So far your generosity has been overwhelming. It looks like we will match that grant in the weeks ahead!
If you did not receive the Pledge Drive Card in the mail, then please stop by the front office and pick one up. The design for the expansion is in the office area, right behind the door. Come and take a look. The Knights have finished selling raffle tickets. Soon the prizes will be picked, and hopefully some of you will win. Our Church wins, in that we receive half the money of all tickets sold. That money will go directly into our building fund. Thank You All!!
Daily Mass this Week -We will continue to have daily mass in the church until June 4.
Catholic Tuition Tax Credit - Jason and Mar lo's son, Michael Smith, will be attending Salpointe next year . If you are interested in making a tax credit donation to help reduce the cost of his tuition, please visit www.ctso-tucson.org and click the "Make a tax credit donation now" tab. Please designate the funds go to Salpointe High School, referral number RP1647. This will send your donation to Michael Smith's tuition account. You can also make a tax credit donation over the phone at 520.838.2558. Thank you for directing your tax dollars to Catholic education!.
Sunday Flowers - Please help us decorate the altar with beautiful flowers in the name of someone you love. Stop by the office and offer a donation. We will include their name in the bulletin for that chosen Sunday.
