We, the people of God, led and inspired by the Holy Spirit, fed by

the Word and the Eucharist, strive to share our faith and live our lives daily as

disciples of Christ.

CALLED, GIFTED, SENT FORTH

The Kingdom of God is God’s dream of humanity

The promised Kingdom of God is represented by the image of all men and

women living as brothers and sisters under God as their one common Father

or Mother. This is not a utopia. It can be experienced as a reality by anyone

who cares to put the Gospel value into practice. As the Gospels tell us, it

starts little like a mustard seed, like yeast put into a whole mass of dough. Is

not an act of sharing one’s time with others something very insignificant?

Even a simple smile at somebody is no big deal. Sitting down with

somebody who is in pain for a death of a loved one is also no big deal. But

little, insignificant acts like these break barriers, create a lasting relationship,

they create a familial relationship even with strangers to the extent that it

convinces us that, yes, God’s dream of humanity as one family is no dream

at all, it is a possibility.

Cardinal John Dew mentioned in his letter to all parishes (12th September

2016) and I quote: STEWARDSHIP is intended to help us all to be INTENTIONAL about our discipleship. It assists us to make a disciple’s

response in everything we do and say. We all long for more people to be

involved and active in our parishes…further he said, it enables us to:

Receive the gifts of God with GRATITUDE

Cultivate them with RESPONSIBILITY

Share them GENEROUSLY with others, and

RETURN the gifts with increase to God.

My dear parishioners, all it takes is for us to be faithful and to live the little

demands of the gospels as God’s stewards; and we leave to God to do the

miracle God wants to create through us his little insignificant instruments.

Ma te Atua koutou e manaaki – May God bless you all. Fr.Marlon Peter Maylon, SVD

SENIORS REPORTING Last Friday 9th September (a very wet and windy morning) 14 senior Parishioners went to St Claudine’s School to join with staff and pupils for their usual Friday 10:00am Mass. A nice invitation. It was just lovely to hear the singing by the pupils, their readings and their prayers.

After Mass there was an enjoyable morning tea for us with the staff.

Special thanks to Father John and the staff at St Claudine’s for preparing the Mass. Thanks to Sister for arranging the Mass.—We will return!! FUNDRAISING The Samoan Community are once again to be congratulated for their fundraising effort last Saturday (10th September) by raising $5,000.00 towards Stage 2 of the Building Project—The Community Hall. They raised this princely sum by their cultural means of singing and dancing, and the faithful rewarding them by the giving of donations.—This is known as “Tausala”.

A very friendly and warm atmosphere prevailed at the Bilderbick Hall, encouraging everyone to get into the theme of the day—”A Fun Family Time”. We were treated to a splendid lunch all provided by the Samoan Community.

Without a doubt it’s the quickest time that the sum of $5,000.00 has been raised. All within 1 hour!!!

The Samoan Community have been very active these past 2 weeks raising $1,300.00 from a successful film evening and now the $5,000.00 from the fun time day. All towards Stage 2 of the Building Project. Thank you again, you are a lovely, loving community. SENIORS Mass on Friday, 23rd September will be celebrated at San Antonio church, Eastbourne, at 9:30am. Please telephone Sr Therese 564 4159 if you would like transport.

It is the feast day of ST PADRE PIO! A note for those who have devotion to this new saint.

The parish of the Holy Spirit, Te Wairua Tapu, joyfully congratulates

all of you and we continue to pray for you that “you may live what you received”.
