A Message From United Way’s Board Chair G iving of yourself just feels good!Having been involved with United Way for more than a decade, it’s a tremendous honor to serve as this year’s Board Chair and share with you the great news contained within this year’s Impact Report.
You’ll see lots of compelling, positive information:
While these are certainly milestones to be celebrated, our vision for our community is so bold thatwe’ll need all of you – our donors, volunteers, advocates and community partners – to continueyour passionate support and generous investment in our work.
Through numerous community conversations and strategic brainstorming sessions that have takenplace during the last two years, United Way has distilled some big ideas down to six priority areasthat help us articulate our aspirations for our community.
If you’re reading this report, you already have a relationship with the United Way and are devoted tolifting our community. On behalf of all of us who strive to lighten the burden of others, I thank youfor your devotion, compassion and generous spirit.
If you asked what else you could do it would be this: share this year’s Impact Report with others, describe our six priority areas so people can be easily inspired, and remind them that while takingon these challenges may not be easy, they are worth pursuing.

Foundation Campaign Update
CONTRIBUTIONS OF CASH, PLEDGES AND LEGACY GIFTS
$4.5MILLION
Weissman & Croce, pledge $1 Million each
Bob Weissman and Bob Croce, have joined forces as co-chairs of the Foundation endowment campaign.
“The program needs of our community have grown over the years at a greater level than the annual United Way appeal has been able to support.” Weissman says. “Our gifts, along with others who have contributed, will help build the Founda-tion endowment fund and we could eliminate this shortfall on a perpetual basis.”
“One solution to ensuring that future community needs are funded is for donors to endow gifts,” Croce says. “Endowed gifts provide help in perpetuity and have a profound impact forever on helping people in the community.”
Foundation honors Pres & Helen Blake
The Foundation honored Prestley and Helen Blake with the 2014 Frances Langford Humanitarian Award. The Blake’s scope of philanthropic interest has supported a wide variety of issues in Martin County and their amazing legacy will long be enjoyed and appreciated for generations to come.
Thomas “Todd” H. Thurlow III assumes Presidency
Ted Brown passes the torch to Todd Thurlow as the new Foundation president. Brown will continue to serve as vice president.
“I am confident in Todd’s ability to lead us in our continuing efforts to further the mission of the Founda-tion,” says Brown.
“I want to thank my predecessors for successfully guiding the Foundation and look forward to carrying the momentum,” Thurlow said. “I am honored to work with a board of exceptional leaders who are dedicated to meeting the future needs of our community.”
