Introduction
MIMS Academy is situated in the serene area of Arikunnu in
Vazhayoor Panchayat of Malappuram District. It is the education
wing of the Aster Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital
which is the first NABH Accredited Multispecialty hospital in
India. MIMS Academy is housed in a 38-acre campus with
beautiful landscaping. MIMS College of Nursing is a part of MIMS
Academy. The College has got a built in area of 58000 sq.ft with
excellent infra-structure facilities and highly qualified faculty.
MIMS College of Nursing is the first NAAC accredited Health
Science institute in the state of Kerala. The College always keep
its pass percentage far above the university results. The
College is the approved research centre of Kerala University of
Health Sciences.
The BSc Nursing Course at MIMS College of Nursing is designed to prepare graduates to
assume responsibilities as professionally competent nurses and midwives in providing
promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services. On par with the Indian Nursing
Council and Kerala University of Health Sciences, the college prepares its own curriculum
structure to inculcate the Mission of the College- “COMPASSIONATE NURSES FOR A CARING
PROFESSION". This mission is integrated in to the vertical and horizontal strands of the
curriculum and also in hidden curriculum to take out the depersonalizing effect of high tech
nursing care.
I. Eligibility/Admission Requirements
1. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of
admission
2. The minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of : Higher Secondary School
Certificate Examination ( 12 years course), or Senior School Certificate Examination ( 10 + 2 ),
or An equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized board or university with Sciences
( Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English with minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
3. Candidate shall be medically fit.
4. As per Government of Kerala norms and statutory bodies the admission will be 50%
Government Quota and 50% Management Quota,
5. Out of the management quota 15% of the seats are reserved for NRIs. If there is no NRIs to
take up the seats it will be filled from management quota itself.

II. Eligibility for Admission2.1 Academic:
(I) Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher
Secondary Education of Kerala or equivalent examinations recognized by any of the
Universities in the State of Kerala with Aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry,
Biology and 50% marks in English in second year only are eligible for admission.
(ii) Relaxation in marks:-
(a) Candidates belonging to SEBC (Socially and Educationally Backward Classes) in the
State of Kerala with total annual family income up to Rs.6 lakhs will have relaxation of 5%
marks. The Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates in the state of Kerala need only
a pass in the qualifying examination.(For Government Quota only)(b) Those candidates claiming relaxation of marks shall produce necessary certificates
from the authority concerned. There will be no reservation of seats for SEBC and or SC/ST
candidates under Management quota.
(iii) Eligibility Certificates: Candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from
places other than State of Kerala shall produce the certificate of recognition and equivalency
of qualifying examination from Kerala University of Health Sciences. (KUHS)Thrissur. This
should be furnished at the time of interview for admission.
2.2 Age:
(i) Applicants should have completed 17 years of age on the 31st December 2018. No
relaxation of the minimum age will be allowed.
(ii) Self-attested copy of relevant page of school record namely SSLC/ICSE/CBSE/
certificate showing the date of birth / copy of birth certificate should be produced at the time
of admission.
III. How to Apply.
3.1. Application for admission to course B.Sc. Nursing can be registered only online through
a single application. The provision for applying online is available at the website. Submission
of more than one application by a candidate will lead to rejection of the candidature.
3.2. Application Fee:
(i)The application fee will be Rs.600/- for all candidates, payable through Bank
Transfer(NEFT/RTGS). Application submission will be completed only after successful
payment of Application fee .
(ii) Application fee once remitted will not be refunded in any circumstances.
3.1. Availability of Prospectus
(i) Prospectus can also be downloaded from www.mimscon.com. However, it will be
available by post or from the office of the MIMS College of Nursing on payment of required
fee.
3.2. Remittance of Application Fee and Submission of Application Form
3.2.1. There will be three stages for the submission of Application form and all stages are
mandatory. Candidates shall complete all the stages of submission as per the time schedule
which will be notified through the website/media.
Stage1-Entering candidate details online (registeration) and creating a login id and
password.Stage 2-Online Payment of Application fee using Credit/Debit/Internet Banking facility.Stage3- Completion of Application and submission to the college through online. No need to
send any printout of the data to the College office.
3.2.2. Remittance of Application Fee and Submission of Application in detail.(a) Candidate shall visit the official website www.mimscon.com and click the
Menu/Navigatin Link “Admission” and select UG Programmes.(b) Instructions on how to apply is given in detail in this area.
NOTE: Keep the following ready before you apply...+SSLC/ICSE/CBSE/ certificate showing the date of birth / birth certificate +Qualifying Exam Certificate/ Marklist+Calculate % of PCB(Physics ,Chemistry, Biology) Marks.+Aadhar card+NEFT/RTGS Transaction ID+Photo of the candidate (in JPEG format up to 30 KB size)
IV. Preparation of Merit List4.1. Merit list:
(a) Out of 50% management seats 35% seats will be filled by managements from among the
applications received by the College on the basis of merit list prepared based on the marks
obtained in the qualifying examination in the core subjects as mentioned in the eligibility
criteria.
(b) Out of 50% management seats 15% NRI seats shall be filled up from qualified students as
per G.O (MS) No.243/2014/HRFWD dated 6.08.2014 of Govt. of Kerala. The original documents
shall be submitted at the time of admission.
4.2. Resolution of tie while ranking: In the case of a tie in the total marks, the marks in Biology
will count. If there is still a tie the marks in Chemistry and Physics will be counted. If a tie till
exists, the age of the candidate will be taken into account, the elder will be preferred to the
younger.
4.3. Validity of the merit list: The published merit list will be valid till 25-10-2019 or the date up
to which the merit list shall be kept alive in terms of instruction/direction of competent
authority.
4.4. Inclusion in the merit list will not entitle the applicant eligible for admission to the course,
unless the applicant satisfy the rules regarding the eligibility for admission and other
conditions as laid down in the Prospectus.
4.5. Furnishing of false information/particulars would result in the forfeiture of the
candidature as well as cancellation of admission to the course, and in addition, will attract
the relevant provisions of criminal law of the land.
V. Selection by Merit based on the marks obtained in Higher Secondary
Examination NRI Quota- 15% of the Management seat
VI. Admission & Payment of Fees6.1. The selected candidates will be informed through SMS in to the registered mobile number
with us.
6.2. The students shall pay all fees of the 1st year of the course at the time of admission which
will not be refunded at any circumstances.
Fee stipulated by the Fee Regulatory Committee/Govt. of Kerala is applicable along with
other fees.
Tution Fee : Rs. 63500Special Fee : Rs. 17,000Caution Deposit : Rs. 10,000
The fee structure for the NRI/NRI sponsored candidates will be available from office of the
college .( As per the order no AFRC50/18/B.SC(N)/P.B.B.SC(N)/M.SC(N) dated 20.04.2018.)
6.3. If any candidate discontinues the course, after closing of admission as notified by the
authority, the candidate has to pay the full fee of the remaining course(4 yrs). Transfer
Certificate will be issued only after payment of the above amount. Also Legal proceedings
will be initiated against student/parent for realization of full amount of fees.
VII. Special Instructions.
(a) Ragging: Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited in MIMS College of Nursing. Hence any
student who indulges in any form of ragging will be subjected to penal action as per
provisions of law. Also the student will be expelled from the college as detailed in the law
concerned and as per Honorable Supreme Court of India directions in this regard.
(b) Use of Mobile Phone: Use of Mobile Phone by students are not allowed in the campus. Any
violation of this prohibition will lead to disciplinary action.
(c) Any other items not specifically covered in this prospectus will be decided by the
management and admission committee of the college.

VIII. Curriculum Design
The curriculum is focused on transactional model of education and nursing process
approach. This programme (BSc (N)) will take place over four academic years. This course is
divided into a number of subjects which are separately assessed and must be individually
passed.

Regulations related to academics 1. University examination shall be conducted ordinarily twice in a year (one regular and one
supplementary examination every year).
2. Candidate shall register for all parts of examination in their first appearance.
3. Candidates who have undergone the prescribed course of study for a period not less than
10 months of the academic year only can appear for the examination. No Candidate shall be
admitted to any part of the examination unless he / she has secured a minimum of 80% or
above attendance separately in theory classes as well as practical in each subject.
4.A candidate who is absent for a total of more than 60 days continuous or interrupted with in
a period of three months during an academic year shall not be eligible to continue the course
with the same batch of students. He / she may obtain special sanction for readmission with
the junior batch from higher authorities (University / DME/Govt. of Kerala).
5. A candidate must have minimum 80% attendance in both theory and practical separately in
each subject for appearing the university examinations.
6. Candidates who fail to appear for examination in any part or parts owing to the shortage of
required attendance shall make up the lost attendance before appearing for the succeeding
examination.
7. If the shortage is beyond the condonable limit the candidate should repeat with the junior
batch.
8.Minimum pass marks shall be 50% in each of the Theory and Practical papers separately
for internal examinations.
9. The internal marks shall be signed by the candidate before transmission to the University.
10. Minimum pass marks shall be 50% in each of the Theory and Practical papers separately
for university examinations.
11. A candidate must have 100 % attendance in each of the practical areas before award of
degree
12. A candidate has to pass in theory and practical exam separately in each of the paper.
13. If a candidate fails in either theory or practical paper he/she has to re appear for both the
papers (theory and Practical)
14. A candidate who fails in any paper or part in the examination may appear for that paper or
part in the subsequent examination.
15. Maximum number of attempts permitted for each paper is 3 including first attempt
16. Candidate shall not be admitted to the subsequent higher examination unless the
candidate has passed the previous examination
17. The maximum period to complete the course successfully should not exceed 8 years.
18. Maximum number of candidates for practical examination should not exceeds 15 per day.
19. Candidate who pass all parts of examination on the first occasion of appearing there of
shall be ranked in order of proficiency as determined by the total marks obtained and shall be
arranged in two classes.
Second Class: Candidates who have passed the examination with an aggregate of 50% and
above. First Class: Those who have secured 65% marks aggregate or above. Distinction: Those students who have secured an aggregate of 75 or above marks be
awarded distinction.
Candidate who pass in first class and who obtain not less than 75% of marks in any subject
shall be deemed to have passed with distinction in that subject. Candidates who pass the
examination in subsequent appearance shall be ranked only in second class.
20. Rank in the examination: Aggregate marks of all the 4 years regular examination shall be
considered for awarding rank for the B.Sc. Nursing. A consolidated mark list consisting of all
4 year examinations shall be given to all the students.
