April is a great month for many reasons. We usually have nice weather and the temperature doesn’t get too hot until May and June. April is a month where we play jokes on each other. Many people use the entire month to be aware or observe certain causes. April is Autism Awareness Month, International Guitar Month, Keep America Beautiful Month, National Frog Month (not sure why we need to have a month for frogs), National Child Abuse Prevention Month, National Garden Month, Stress Awareness Month, National Parkinson’s Awareness Month, and a slew of other things to be aware of. It sure would keep one busy if they were to observe all of these things. Out of all of the things that are celebrated and observed in April National Humor Month has to be the best. Everyone likes to hear jokes and laugh. Many people say, “Laughter is the best medicine.” I know I feel better when I am laughing, so I will end this article with a joke courtesy of www.lotsofjokes.com. Innkeeper: The room is $15 a night. Jokes and Hoaxes and Pranks, Oh My! While its origins are not entirely clear, April 1, commonly known as April Fools’ Day, has been a date for playing pranks for centuries, sometimes on a large scale. For example, in 2000, a news release was issued announcing the 15th Annual New York City April Fools’ Day Parade. Besides throngs of spectators, two major news affiliates showed up to cover the phony event. To read about other classic capers, visit the April Fool Archive at www.MuseumOfHoaxes.com. The theme for March in theCircle of Friends was “Women’sHistory Month”. We learnedabout Indian and pioneer women, women during times of war, andthe Women’s LiberationMovement here in the US. It’samazing to consider how the roleof women in our society haschanged so significantly in such ashort period of time, and even

more amazing is that many of ourown residents played a significantrole in this evolution!
