Yoga & Meditation Tuesdays 10 – 11amPracticing yoga regularly helps shape new healthy patterns of living in your body and replenishes your energy. This is a gentle yet enlivening yoga class designed to restore balance with your body, mind and breath. Certified Yoga instructor Cheryl Kaiser guides students through a sequence of yoga postures and movement designed for seniors. Options are provided to adapt the yoga poses safely with the use of yoga blocks and chairs. Mats are provided if you do not have your own. All levels welcome!

Beginner Pilates &

This 1-hour class, designed for active seniors, is so much fun, you’ll forget you’re exercising! Begin with 30 minutes of Zumba: move your body to Latin and upbeat music…toning muscles, improving balance & coordination. Then finish with mat Pilates – working on flexibility and strengthening core muscles.

THURSDAYS 10 – 11am Come for 30 or 60 minutes!

FREE Monthly Memory Screenings!

The first Tuesday of each month,

provides one-on-one private memory & lifestyle screenings. Limited to 4 people per month, this 20-30 minute screening enables you to be proactive about your brain health.

Tai Chi on Mondays 10 – 11am Beginning January 7th Instructor Rick Wilson incorporates elements of Qi Gong and Chen style forms to lead you through the gentle, continuous, rhythmic movements of Tai Chi.

Help improve balance, muscle strength and coordination. A growing body of research supports the medical benefits of Tai Chi, particularly for many issues associated with aging. Muscles remain relaxed and joints are not stressed during Tai Chi, which can also be adapted for those who need to sit during class. Rick has 20 years of experience with the healing aspects of the martial arts and has been a massage therapist since 2001. Rick resides on Longboat Key and also teaches health and wellness classes at the Resort at Longboat Key Club. Come feel the energy flowing!

Learn to play Mah Jongg or work on your skills playing

other beginners and intermediate level players. Our

From the Executive Director I’ve never been a big fan of New Year’s Resolutions, but 2019 promises to be a fantastic year for The Paradise Center.

As this issue goes to press, we are making great progress on finding our own home. This will enable us to offer the terrific people of our community a wider variety of year-round activities.

In the meantime, we are looking forward to a busy season inside Temple Beth Israel, whose leadership has so generously offered us a temporary home!

Some of our goals for 2019 include trying new things. It’s not only for the purpose of appealing to a wider audience but also because it’s great for brain health. I recently tried Tai Chi for the first time. Wow. In just 10 minutes, I felt both energized and relaxed simultaneously. It’s wonderful!

I hope you’ll join us at The Paradise Center this winter to try a few new things yourself! Happy, healthy 2019 to all.
