CHECK OUT WHAT’S HAPPENING

AT UCA CAMP THIS SUMMER!

UCA HEROES RALLY:

On the third day of camp, the UCA staff will lead a “Heroes” rally. Your team will be active

participants in the rally so be sure to accessorize like your favorite hero. Heroes can be from the

community (Policeman, Fireman, Ambulance Driver, Military, etc.) or they can be your favorite

Superhero!

UCA TIME CAPSULE:

Start your season this summer by setting your goals and stashing them away in the UCA Time

Capsule….On the first night of camp, your squad will create a 2009-2010 Time Capsule for you to fill

with your goals and decorate in your school colors. Open the Time Capsule at the end of the year

banquet to see how far you’ve come! (Time Capsule Provided – Bring Supplies to Decorate)

SQUAD UNITY CEREMONY:

This summer UCA will help your team bond like never before. Each squad should bring yarn in your

school colors (about 1 foot per squad member). Your Big Bro or Sis will take you through a ceremony to

help everyone understand their role and commitment to the squad.

GREEN TEAM:

Help UCA be kind to the environment this summer by joining the UCA GREEN TEAM. Green

Team members agree to:

1) Bring a water bottle / cup from home to use for water during the week

2) Agree to a 10:30 lights out

3) Include your teams “Green” efforts in your time capsule

UCA PROGRAM INFORMATION Our staff is looking forward to working with you at camp this summer. Listed below is general information that will benefit you as you prepare for camp. The UCA Program is designed to train cheerleaders to be their very best. Each class is professionally conducted by

top instructors. The overall emphasis of the program is on concentrated learning in a fun and exciting

environment.

Report to camp in good condition. Daily stretching exercises, practicing jumps, and aerobic conditioning will

help you avoid potential injuries and soreness. Start now to get in shape for camp!

Throughout the camp, your squad will learn a variety of cheers, sidelines, and dances. You will be privately

coached by a UCA instructor on a cheer and the Xtreme routine (a dance plus incorporation). After each

private coaching session, you will be evaluated on this material. These are low-pressure evaluations designed to

help you get your new material game-ready.

On the final day of camp, your squad has the option to participate in our Camp Championships. All evaluations

and the Optional Camp Championships will be conducted according to the safety rules and guidelines set forth

by the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators (AACCA). You can view these safety

guidelines at their website: www.aacca.org. Please be sure to read these guidelines carefully. An instructor will

be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Daily awards will be presented for achievement, improvement and spirit. At the conclusion of camp, we will

present overall awards in several divisions for the entire week.

NOTE: There will be no evaluation of home cheers.

Optional Home Dance Evaluation

There will be a Home Dance Evaluation (with awards) in which all interested squads may perform a

dance routine from home. This evaluation is strictly OPTIONAL and will occur on the first night of

camp unless there is a conflict with facilities.

Routines will be judged on technique, originality, and crowd appeal. For school teams, partner stunts,

pyramids or tumbling are NOT permitted in the optional home dance evaluation. The maximum

length of a routine is one minute and fifteen seconds.

If you plan to participate in the home dance evaluation, we will furnish a CD player for your use.

UCA requests that there will be no video taping during actual class instruction; however, you may

videotape private coaching, evaluation and other activities during the week.
