imagine this site.. as my/your/anyone’s.. brain.

redefineschool.com

Page 7: output

suppose we go with it being mine..

as in: i claim the site’s

yet with no claim on the underlying insight/et-al. as it belongs to no one. and/or everyone.

the site as a gatheringresidueremixrepresentationcommonplacing…

via experimenting/thinking/connecting/translating/noticing/wondering/dreaming/doing/being/..

redefineschool.com/idiosyncratic-jargon/

Page 8: output

so you can see the site (3000+ pages) assomeone’s incomplete/ongoing trail (ie: as an application, resume, commonplace book, credentials, non-linear portfolio, brain, ….)

perhaps easier on the eyes.. with 250,000+ nodes

Page 9: output

often times (at least for me) the site is a means to have conversations with myself and with the authors (most often one-way) as i read books.

Page 10: output

and a space to help me remember things about people.. from meeting them face to face or hearing them talk or reading their books.

Page 11: output

and to organize..

my non-organizable thinkings/connections/doings..

with ..a search button – so anyone could see if there are any pages with insights/curiosities imight have had that relate to their insights/curiosities.

or click grokking for a glossary

some tech (app/chip) doing much of this documenting/connecting for the person.. simply from a daily self-talk…

like.. could i/we be linkable as we speak (in any form) to/with others.. created each one .. our own language in a sense.. or perhaps.. unearthing a more complete language..?

like notes you’ve kind of prepared for life.. but that you aren’t tied to.. so that you can live alive. with no prep. as prep.

what if a site/collection such as this (or not such a this), is your access into me. crafted ongoingly via tech that listens to me w/out agenda/judgment. leaving a trail, like a searchable/linkable commonplace book, for me/you to tap into when/if needed/desired.

• wikipedia style, so that it’s accessible via whatever curiosity you have.

• nothing to prove style, so that i/we-all spend more on eudaimonia ness than on proving ness.

leaving us freed up (from all the documenting/recruiting/proving/judging/..) to do the thing we can’t not do. in the city. as the day.

Page 30: output

what if we focused on self-talk as data. where tech takes our curiosities inorganizes themconnects them/usleaves a trail/searchable-residue.

so that i’m not spending my time jumping through hoops and fitting into boxes for you (not a person’s best side)

and you aren’t spending your time trying to find me and then wondering/deciding if you should trust/like me (most people are other people, especially when trying to impress).

Page 31: output
Page 32: output

a wonderinghow does one snapshot life without interfering with the beat. without letting the record\ing define the rhythm\ing. and what does any of that even mean. who is it for. why do we insist/oblige on doing/standardizing it.

Page 33: output

a reflectionto not let noise mandate words. to not let mandates mandate noise. but rather – to listen to the (assumed) silence. perhaps to be the (assumed) silence.

Page 34: output

a zoom outa zoom out globally allows one to notice the many hours of the day we currently spend …reporting/proving/documenting things/ourselves. and then too, most often after the ed is added.. ie: reported/proved/documented… the less shiny it becomes. the less it’s paid attention to. too often this only gets us to be less us.

- Oscar Wilde

Page 35: output

notice our obsession with busy ness..take a day, an hour, 2 minutes, to just stop and look around.ask David about the utopia of rules, watch kafka, ..

busy ness isn’t what our souls crave..ask Helena who, after 2 years of watching a people she couldn’t describe, realized it was a people living in insatiable joy

how we spend the hours of our days, matters..ask people who are dying - #1 regret: i didn’t live a life more true to myself

perhaps we find the bravery to listen, question, ..change our minds every day. to create a system that facilitates authenticity & attachment rather than efficiency & evidence.

if documentation/output is worth most of the hours of our days.. most of our resources/people/money/sanity… seems it should be worth paying attention to. yet documentation/research/findings, while often beyond heart wrenching, don’t seem to be affecting enough change. especially not toward the potential for change we have today.

quality of data (or whatever) matters little if our focus is on

the wrong kind of data (or whatever)

Page 37: output
Page 38: output

what if some tech (app/chip) we’ve not yet given a fair shake, is something that would allow us to document everything. and nothing. without time constraints. without worries of privacy/ownership/evidence/identity/control. because it would also allow all of us to be too usefully preoccupied (doing the thing we can’t not do) to continue paying homage to busy ness.

redefineschool.com/about/curiosity-app/

what if when we all have something else to do (rather than ie: inspecting the inspectors), transparency and public ness also act as incubator/connector. whenever/wherever/however we are. whenever/wherever/however needed.

Page 39: output

the key or kicker or whatever.. isn’t about any site or commonplacing or lifelogging or any particular tech.. nothing really new there.

perhaps what’s different is in realizing ..now we can make it all dance in sync.ie: we now have the means to facilitate chaos. to embrace uncertainty everyday. to listen to our interconnectedness globally and locally. freeing us all up to be/become antifragile.

Page 40: output

leaving all of us with the luxury to live our lives more true to ourselves. less about supposed to’s. and as long as we keep talking/listening to ourselves.. that awakeness (aka: eudaimonian surplus) will leave any/all the trail we’ll ever need.

we now have the chance to make many tech’s irrelevant (ie: policies, work, school,

war, ..). perhaps as we use tech to hasten a detox from bureaucratic obsessions/preoccupations this twitch we have to prove/document ourselves/everything will become irrelevant as well.

I think we’re wasting the chance of a lifetime…We fail to notice because we’re busy keeping busy. We fail to dream because dreaming implies that we have to take a risk to realize our dream. We fail to connect because we might get rejected. And we fail to do because we haven’t noticed, we haven’t dreamed, and we haven’t connected.

- Seth Godin, it’s your turn
