I N E R T I A S Y S T E M

Inertia Driven is the heart of the Franchi family of semi-automatic

firearms and relies upon one of the basic laws of physics: Te Law of

Inertia, which states that an object at rest will remain at rest. Te

object, in the Inertia Driven system, is the free-floating bolt. Al l the

other gun parts are fixed in place. Bet ween the free-floating bolt and

the rotary locking head is a short, very stiff inertia spring. When the

gun is fired all of the fixed-parts of the gun are propelled rearward

by the guns recoil. Te bolt briefly holds its position as the fixedparts move to the rear, causing the inertia spring to compress. As

the shot charge leaves the barrel and the rearward force of the gun

diminishes, the compressed inertia spring throws the bolt rearward

with suffi cient force to unlock the rotating bolt head, eject the spent

shell and re-cock the hammer. Te recoil spring then returns the

bolt, which travels forward picking up and chambering another

shell and locking the rotating head back into place. Te bolt weight

and inertia spring power are suffi cient to cycle 2 " target loads to

heavy 3" magnums.

As the bolt assembly moves into battery, the locking head pin moves along a curved

track in the bolt body to rotate the steel bolt head into engagement with the steel barrel

extension. The cartridge drop lever is down, indicating the gun is cocked.

When the gun fres every part o the shotgun except the bolt body moves rearward.

The curved track in the bolt b ody, which is moving orward relative to the rest o the gun,

presses against the locking head pin, turning the bolt head even tighter into the barrel

extension. A shell is allowed to exit rom the magazine.

Near the end o the recoil cycle, chamber pressure drops to a sae level and the guns

rearward motion slows. The heavy inertia spring then thrusts the bolt assembly rearward,

unlocking the rotating bolt head, extracting the spent shell rom the chamber and pulling

it against the ejector.

As the empty shell exits the receiver, the energy o the moving bolt assembly recocks

the hammer and compresses the recoil spring on the magazine tube. The recoil spring

then thrusts the bolt assembly orward, li ting the oncoming shell into position and

chambering a resh cartridge. The gun is ready to ire again in a raction o a second!

T H E I - 1 2 R E P R E S E N T S a new

line of Franchi auto-loaders by

incorporating a free-floating bolt with

the Inertia Driven system. The I-12 is

well-balanced and features a narrow

profile fore-end and butt stock. This is

a gun that will handle anything from

118-ounce target loads to the heaviest

3" magnums.

Te Franchi I-12 is Inertia Driven, which means it does not rely on

gas valves or pistons positioned under the fore-end to work the action.

Te heart of the inertia system is simplicity itselfa free-floating

bolt compresses an inertia spring as the gun recoils, which creates

the energy that cycles the action. Without bulky gas cylinders and

the associated hardware, the Inertia Driven I-12 has a slender, low

profile fore-end that fits a shooters hand comfortably and allows for

comfortable handling. Te I-12s specially-designed recoil padincorporates a two-part system called the win Shock Absorber (SA).

Te SA recoil pad initially holds its shape during firing and then

deeply compresses with the recoil, soaking up the kick and spreading

recoil energy over a wider area of the shooters shoulder. Te Franchi

I-12 with the SA gel-insert recoil pad has up to 44% less recoil than

the competition. Franchis I-12 series, made up of several models

of I-12s, fits nearly any kind of hunting. For waterfowl, the I-12 in

Max-4 HD is an ideal choice, while APG HD is designed for general

all-purpose hunting for deer and turkey, and a black synthetic stock is

the answer for an all-around gun without specific requirements.

Franchis 720 gas-operated autoloader is reliable and strong

owing to a rotating bolt head thats at the heart o the

operating system. The rotating bolt head locks bank-vault

tight into the barrel extension, which is what takes the ull

stress o fring. The act that lock-up is achieved by the rotary

bolt locking into the barrel, allows the 720s receiver to be

manuactured rom super-light alloys, and because o this,

the 720s weight starts at just 5.8 lbs.

The Franchi 720 is an outstanding all-around 20-gauge

model introduced each year.

Destined to be a treasured collectible, Franchi will produce 250

Destinos annually. Tis year the Destino silver-sided receiver features

gold embellished game scenes that grace both sides of the Destinos. Te

bottom tang of the Destinos European-style straight grip is engraved

with gold to read 1 of 250 in testament to the Destinos limited

production and availability. Te Destinos beautiful and graceful

stock is cut from AAA-Select Grade walnut and is oil-finished by hand

to enhance the natural figure and beauty of the wood. A traditionalcheckered wood butt plate and a fitted rubber butt pad come with

each gun. Te receiver is CNC machined from billet steel for

maximum strength and integrity, which also provides extremely

close tolerances and longer life for the action. Te Destino features a
