Overview – Long-Term Substitute Teacher Request is utilized to request a long-term substitute teacher that is placed temporarily in a teaching position when a teacher is on leave. A long-term substitute teacher is required to have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Long-term substitute teachers work more than twenty (20) consecutive days but no more than ninety (90) consecutive days, for the same teacher and shall be paid an additional amount above the daily rate for degreed substitutes as stipulated in the current budget. On the 21 st day, the substitute teacher will be paid the long-term substitute teacher pay rate and this pay rate will be retroactive to the beginning of the assignment. **Please note: A long-term substitute teacher request will be submitted by the budget holder or designee for approval by the Director of Human Resources prior to the school paying the long-term substitute teacher rate of pay.
