INSTITUTIONAL FRAMEWORK

Statistics Lithuania is responsible for collection of all the statistical information on agriculture and its responsibilities are laid down in the Law of National Statistics.

Regulation No223/2009 of the European Council on the Community Statistics

Data are collected by conducting complete enumeration and applying sample methods. The prepared information is used by state, municipal and scientific institutions to shape agricultural policies, providing aid to agricultural producers in line with the EU principles

Statistics Lithuania is responsible for calculation of the supply balance sheet which comprise: Cereals, legumes, potatoes, rice, fruit, vegetables; Sugar beat, treacle, honey; Olives, oil plant seeds, vegetable oil, oil cakes, grape wine; Total meat: beef and veal meat, pig meat, sheep and goat meat, poultry

meat, rabbit meat, variety meat and fat; Milk and dairy products; Eggs and egg products; Animal and vegetable fats.
