So how would Emma obtain her CCMP designation?

Emma submits application with documented experience and education, along with fee.

Her application is reviewed by approved change management experts.

Emma is notified: “You’re application is approved!” She can register for a date to take the exam.

On the exam date, she goes to the local exam center and completes the exam.

CCMP is not just another change management certificate

Results from an educational process

Demonstrates knowledge of content at the end of a finite period of time, usually based on course content delivered

Usually does not require recertification

Generally has no expiry date

Based on standards set by a thorough, defensible, industry-wide process resulting in a clear definition of required knowledge or skills

Indicates mastery of knowledge usually assessed through a rigorously developed and validated exam delivered under controlled conditions to ensure integrity

Requires work experience demonstrating a track record of success

Awarded by third-party, standard-setting organization unaffiliated with a commercial entity

Typically results in a designation which allows a practitioner to add letters behind their name

Requires recertification to ensure the practitioner remains current through education and participation in the profession

Eligibility to Apply for the CCMP™ CredentialFormal Education

Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree or global equivalent)

Minimum of five years/60 months of professional change management experience during which at least 7,000 hours were spent as a change management lead or practitioner

21 hours of change management instructor-led training within the past five years

Four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or global equivalent) 

Minimum of three years/36 months of professional change managementexperience during which at least 4,200 hours were spent as a change management lead or practitioner

21 hours of change management instructor-led training within the past five years1. Answer three out of five essay questions on change

management experience2. Training should be instructor-led, in person or online

(self-directed study not allowed for initial application)
