● COSMIC-2 Mission will produce valuable data for weather and climate processes research in tropics, leading to better cyclone predictions
GPS/GNSS Radio Occultation (RO)
● Pioneered by NASA/JPL in the 1960’s● Radio signals sent from one GNSS satellite
to another in low Earth orbit are bent by planet’s atmosphere
● Amount of bending tells us the temperature & water vapor in the lower atmosphere and electron density in the ionosphere
