• Removethehitchbracketsandthebolts,ifpresent,fromtheendsofthesweeper'shitchtubes.SlidethetransporthookontotheL.H.hitchtubeasshowninfigure9.
• Reassemblethehitchbracketsandboltstothehitchtubes.Refertoyoursweeperowner'smanual.
• Connectthesweepertothetractor.Setthesweeperheightadjustmenthandletoaboutthemiddleofit'sadjustmentrange.
• Placethedethatcherinfrontofthesweeperhousing,underneaththehitchtubes.
• Connectthedethatchertotheconduitclampusingtwo5/16"x1-3/8"clevispins,5/16"washersand3/32"haircotterpins.Seefigure10.

• Securethetwomountbracketstothedrawbaroffsettubeofthesweeperusingtwo3/8"U-bolts,four3/8"lockwashersandfour3/8"hexnuts.Do not tighten yet.
• Centerdethatcheronfrontofthesweeperhousing.• Placethedoubletransporthookontothesweeper
hitchtube.Liftupthefrontofthedethatcherandslideitintothedoublehookstosecureitinthetransportposition.
• TightentheU-boltsandnutsassembledinfigure7.

OPERATION
RAISING/LOWERING THE DETHATCHER• Toraisethedethatcherfortransport,liftuponthe
frontofthedethatcherandsecureitwiththetransportordoubletransporthook.Lowerthedethatcherbyreleasingthehook.
SETTING THE OPERATING POSITION• Theoperatingheightofthedethatcheriscontrolled
bythegaugewheelatthefrontofthedethatcherandisnotadjustable.Thecorrectwheelpositionwasdeterminedinfigure2whenyouassembledthewheel.
• Setthesweepertothedesiredoperatingheight.(Thebestheightisusuallywiththebrushessetabout1/2"downintothegrass.)Refertoyoursweeperowner'smanualforsweeper.
USING THE DETHATCHERRegularremovalofthatchiscriticaltothemaintenanceofahealthylawn.Thatchislayerofstems,clippings,runners,rootsandleavesthathavenotdecayed.Excessivethatchpreventsair,waterand fertilizer from reaching the roots.The dethatcher will effectively dislodge excessive thatchfromyourlawn.
• Startwiththetractorinlowgear.Varytheforwardspeedtodeterminethebestspeedformaximumdethatcherperformance.
• Useacrisscrosspatterntoachievethemostevenremovalofthatch.
• Onslopes,alwaysoperateinanupanddowndirectiononly.
• Avoidextremelysharpturns.• Avoidtowingthedethatcheracrosssuddensteep
dipsinthegroundwhiledethatching.Lossofgroundcontactwiththegaugewheelcouldcausethedethatchertobepulledbackunderneaththesweeper.
MAINTENANCE• Beforeeachuse,checkallnutsandboltsfor
tightness.• Cleanaftereachusetohelppreventrust.• Ifrustappearsonthespringtines,sandlightlyand
coatwithenamelpaint.
STORAGE• Alwaysstoreinadryarea,andcoatexposedmetal
withlightoilwhennotinuse.

If you have a 30" sweeper, skip steps 7 through 9.• Makesurethesweeperheightadjustmenthandleis
stillsettoaboutthemiddleofit'sadjustmentrange.• Centerthedethatcherwiththesweeper.• Assemblethekeeperbrackets(bendtotheinside)
tothesweeper'shitchtube,outsideoftheconduitclamps.Useau-boltandtwo1/4"nylocknutsperbracket.Positionthekeeperbracketsagainstthesidesoftheconduitclamps,approximatelyperpendiculartotheground.Tightenthenylocknutswithoutbendingthekeeperbrackets.Seefigure11.
