EXECUTIVE GOLFCOURSES FOR C.D.0. #3

Following this article, you willfind a copy of the letter I have

sent to the Board of County

Commissioners of Sumter

County.

The reason I have done so is

that they will be voting on the

proposed plans for C.D.D. #3,which will include how many

executive golf courses will be

built.

Residents need to appear at

the meeting on May I 2th

when this proposal is

considered IF YOU DON'T

LIKE BEING UNABLE TO GET

TEE TIMES FROM THE

COMPUTER - - and if you want

to play more than two times a

week as it has been lately.

At this meeting, plans could

be proposed and approved

that would affect an

anticipated increase inpopulation two or three yearsfrom now.

Right now, 17,000 would beaffected. Think about what it

will be like Just two years

from now with 22,000

residents if only two

executive golf courses are in

the plans!

If you think I am right or have

an opinion, please call the

office of the Sumter County

Commissioners at 1-800-793-

020]. Ask for Benny

Strickland or any of the

commissioners there and tell

them how you feel.

TO: Sumter County Board of

Commissioners ..

SUBJECT: Your vote on the

Villages Development seekingapproval of the third

Community DevelopmentDistrict ‘

FROM: JOSEPH GO'l'l'FRlED

920 Ramos Drive

Lady Lake Fl 32159

Resident of the

Community DevelopmentDistrict #l/Sumtor County

Member of Voters

Sumter County

President/member of the

Property Owners' Association

of

As you vote on the subject

that affects everyone in The

Villages (that is I7,000people), and because you are

voting not only for TheVillages to extend the buildingof homes, but you are also

approving the recreation thatthey have planned for thisarea.

That is what we, the

people, would like to inform

you about.

The developer advertises

“free” golf on the executive

golf courses, and for sixmonths of the past few years

as of today, you are only

allotted to play two (2) times

a week - maybe three (3) -

because the computer system

installed by the community

development district controlsthese golf courses.

Because you are only

looking at part of the overallplan that you are voting on,

correction on the over-all plan

that calls for two (2)

executive golf courses to four

(4) executive golf courses. That will correct our problem

and, believe me, this will not

cost the developer 3 thing

because he sells it all back to

the C.D.D. (Community

Development District) as fastas he can build them.

We, the residents of The

Villages, are having problemswith the new form of

government called 0.0.0.But this one point of interest

of getting golf tee time

seems to be the biggest one

of all, and your help on this

subject would be greatlyappreciated. :

Thank you.

THE NOSTALGIA CORNER

FLY-FIGHTING SHOWED INITIATIVE

In the "Good Old Summertime." flies are

one of the many pests that thrive and man

has tried numerous ways to ward them off.

How many remember the sticky flypaper

or a poison flypaper that floated on a bowl

of water?

The latter proved to be dangerous so a

"Shoo-Fly Pie" was invented. It imitated a

pie with the poison paper tucked under atop "crust" with small holes to allow flies to

fly in to get a taste of the tempting "filling."

There were many inventions such as a fly

brick, fly traps. fly swatters. screen covers

for food (a versuon of which can often be

found at picnics yet today) and various

mechanical devices too numerous to

mention.

In the elegant 805 and into the 905. a

popular patented device was the fly fanWith outstretched cloth fans revolving

slowly and casting shadows. Everyoneknew that a shadow over a fly would

cause it to decamp quickly

These fans were frequently found in

country stores above cheese and food

counters and over restaurant and family

dinner tables. Some were rotated with

wind power, but the most popular were

key-wound

Hope you have enjoyed “fly"—ing down

memory lane

Editor's note: The season for love bugs

is imminent. and I would remind you one

flypaper was effective in eliminating
