In case of fire …
• NewCold is committed to develop and operate warehouses with safe and proven fire prevention systems that accommodate the design requirements of the automation equipment within the facility and create a safe workplace
• Maintaining product integrity and food safety by providing an uninterrupted cold chain is one of our core competences
Customer statement
Don’t give fire a chance!
MISSION
OxyReduct® the customized protection concept consisting of:
• Active fire protection with oxygen reduction
and
• Very early fire detection with high sensitive air sampling
Action – not reaction!
• NewCold uses oxygen reduction technology as a key component of its design and operations, which prevents a fire from starting in the automated (un-manned) areas of the facility and traditional fire sprinkler protection installed in the manned areas of the facility
Customer statement
Prevention principle
• The oxygen concentration in the atmosphere is reduced by adding nitrogen to this atmosphere.
• The changed mixing ratio of oxygen versus nitrogen prevents fire from breaking out or propagating.
Physical basis
O2 – OxygenAr – ArgonCO2 – Carbon dioxideN2 – Nitrogen
Fire prevention principle
• The oxygen concentration in the atmosphere is reduced by adding nitrogen-enriched air (approx. 95% nitrogen, 5% oxygen) to the atmosphere.
• Consequently, the ratio of oxygen versus nitrogen is changed and a fire cannot start.
Fire Test: torch initiated – but under freezer conditions

• Constant preventive fire protection (24/7) by regulating the oxygen level
• Easy adaptation to changes in storage use due to modular concept
• Self-monitoring system (permanent control of the function and effectiveness)
• Environmentally friendly –nitrogen generated from ambient air
Active Fire Prevention with OxyReduct®
• Even at the lowest temperatures it is possible to create an atmosphere which provides secure fire protection
• Avoidance of damage to warehouse goods by smoke, the effects of fire and extinguishing agents
Cold Storage - OxyReduct® benefits
OxyReduct® versus fire fighting
• OxyReduct® is a proactive system
• No risk of water leakage
• More storage density
• Flexibility in storage location
• Less requirements in construction
• Applying oxygen reduction systems is not simply a cost saving measure; the running costs are higher than a sprinkler system
• However, it significantly decreases the probability of damage through fire, and it is considered as part of our risk management strategy.
• This is also acknowledged by insurance companies
