ATV & QUAD BIKE NEWS
Editors CommentsWell here we are with the May 2013 issue of
OzRoamer E-Magazine and we have had a
busy few months.
This issue we look at part two of Project Pajero
as the helpful guys at Sutton's Mitsubishi have
finished their bit for the restoration. What has
become apparent is that with the replacement
of a refurbished transmission after only a
couple of years it is almost always worth while
going with Original Manufacturers equipment.
We also have a look at a number of Camper
Trailers that have taken a slightly different
approach to the standard tent on a trailer that
abounds within the industry.
We have reviewed half a dozen 4WD and
AWD SUV’s for your perusal including some
of the winners of our recent yearly awards.
Throw in some ATV’S some off road bikes,
some places to go and see, some
product reviews and some delicious
recipes for the road and you have a
packed monthly e-magazine
Remember we love your feedback,
especially those that tell us they use our
reviews to help with their buying decisions.
We must be doing something right!!
Cheers,

LiftTrax Recovery Gear AccessoriesLiftTrax (originally called pillowtrack) is theultimate gadget for anyone with a truck, 4x4or AWD vehicle. A drive-on device for whenyour vehicle gets stuck in sand, mud or otherdifficult terrain, this ingenious device rolls out ofa small carrying bag and inflates to becomemobile traction.
Developed by 4x4 enthusiasts Dan Hermannand Eyal Benjamin who are both engineers bytrade.Made from a special reinforced fabric, LiftTraxare strong enough to support a four tonnevehicle by using the pneumatic powerof trapped air, but are lightweight and compactenough to roll up into a small duffle bag.
Therefore, with no heavy metal bars, no hardto store long plates and the extra advantageof being able to lift the vehicle not just give itgrip, Their solution is one of the mostversatile on the market.
A fraction of the size and weight of metal orplastic boards used by off road vehicle owners toget unstuck, LiftTrax are a compact insurancepolicy against getting held back by MotherNature. In addition, while other off road gadgetsonly work in specific scenarios such as mud, sand or rocks,LiftTrax are multi-purpose as, with their built inflexibility, they mould themselves to the shape ortexture of the different terrain orobstacle.
Another distinct advantage of LiftTrax is thatthey don’t just provide stuck vehicles withtraction; they simultaneously lift the vehicle aswell.Boasting twice the bursting pressure ofthe commonly known exhaust jack, LiftTraxraise the beached vehicle up and allow itto drive away.
They even have a specially designed versionfor AWD SUV’s so owners can be adventurous
with some comfort.
Inventor Dan Hermann says “It’s an all-in-one devicethat is compact enough to keep in your vehicle at alltimes but big and tough enough to get you out of somereally sticky situations.” “Peolpe are finding LiftTraxuseful everywhere”.

AUTOFRIDGE Portable Fridge AccessoriesAUTOFRIDGE Australia Pty Ltd is an Australianowned company that is now in its 24th year. TheAUTOFRIDGE project began in 1986 after aprototype portable fridge was built to test out theeutectic refrigeration principle that had been usedin the marine industry for many years.
The first AUTOFRIDGE portable eutecticrefrigerators for 4WD applications were producedin 1987 and the product quickly gainedacceptance due to its exceptional efficiency andhigh quality.
Today, the product is still hand built with the primeobjectives being efficiency, reliability and a highstandard of finish.
In a conventional compressor poweredrefrigeration system the evaporator is mountedinside the fridge cabinet and makes everythingcold whenthe compressor is running. When the compressorturns off, the fridge warms up. The system startsup again to bring the temperature down. This
process continues constantly and is controlled bythe thermostat - all very simple and in most casesreliable.
Eutectic refrigeration is simply the use of acompressor-driven refrigeration system coupledto a cold storage device, i.e. eutectic tank(sometimes called ‘ice bank’ or ‘ice wall’). Theeutectic tank contains a liquid which is chilled andfrozen during the refrigeration cycle. This mass of ice housed within the tank iscapable of keeping the temperature of aninsulated box at refrigeration temperatures forlong periods of time without running thecompressor. When the eutectic tank or ice bankhas thawed, the refrigeration system is run againto re-establish the ice bank.
In a properly designed eutectic system therefrigeration system only needs to be run once ortwice daily with very long periods between eachrun. It is not necessary to have an auxiliarybattery
just to run the EUTECTIC fridge. The advantage of the eutectic system is that therefrigeration unit does not need a power source on acontinuous basis, whereas a conventional system must have poweravailable at all times.
