Edit the following sentences according to the style used in the book to correct any errors in
the way numbers are presented. If all numbers in a sentence are already correctly expressed,
write correct. Answers to even-numbered items can be found at the back of the book.
EXAMPLE
Before James Cameron began work on Avatar, his mother dreamed about a blue-skinned twelve
woman 12 feet tall. ^
1. Avatar, the epic science-fiction motion-capture film released in 2009, takes place in the
twenty-second century.
2. James Cameron, the writer and director, estimates that sixty percent of the film consists of
computer-generated elements.
3. The theatrical release runs for 162 minutes.
4. Nominated for 9 Oscars, the film won 3.
5. A linguist created a language of about 1,000 words for the Na’vi characters to speak.
Cameron added 30 more words.
6. Back in 1994, Cameron prepared an 80-page plan for the movie, but he had to wait for film
