• Known for being one of the first photographers to embrace color photography outside of its commercial use
• Photographed small towns, best known for his body “Uncommon Places”
Edward Weston (1886-1958)• Known as one of the most
influential photographers of the 20th century
• First photographer to receive the Guggenheim Fellowship
• Very influenced by Steiglitz as he was also apart of the Pictorialism movement
• One of his more well known images were of peppers
Edward Steichen (1879-1973)
• Opened 291 or “Little Galleries of the Photo Secession”
• Curated “The Family of Man” that documented the human experience with 508 photos from 68 countries and 273 photographers
Jeff Wall (1946- )
• Known for large scale portraits of everyday genre scenes
• Gives narrative to documentary images as well as creates cinematic “doc” images

• Shot with an 8x10 view camera
