JUNE 2, 2019 ASCENSION OF OUR LORD SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER Christ did not enter into a sanctuary made by hands, a copy of the true one, but heaven itself, that he might now appear before God on our behalf. Not that he might offer himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters each year into the sanctuary with blood that is not his own; if that were so, he would have had to suffer repeatedly from the foundation of the world. But now once for all he has appeared at the end of the ages to take away sin by his sacrifice. Just as it is appointed that men and women die once, and after this the judgment, so also Christ, offered once to take away the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to take away sin but to bring salvation to those who eagerly await him. Today as we celebrate the feast of the Ascension, we are reminded that Christ’s saving work on earth continues through his disciples...and now through us. Ecumenical Taizé Prayer Service Sunday, June 9 7-8pm Celebrate Pentecost with song, silence and scripture. The simple and beautiful chant music of Taizé monastery in France is dedicated to the renewal of spirits and the healing of our planet. The repetitive nature of the chanted prayer can promote a kind of inner unity of the person, allowing the spirit to be more open and more attentive to what is essential. Silence is a fundamental part of the Taizé service. Mercy Conference and Retreat Center 2039 N. Geyer Rd.63131 Visit www.mercycenterstl.org for more information

Join us in honoring Sr. Jude Ruggeri at her Golden Jubilee, a recogni on and celebra on of 50 years of vowed religious life. Mass will be held on June 9 at 11am at St. Ambrose, followed by a recep on at Rose of the Hill. Please RSVP to Sr. Jude at 314-803-2600 or [email protected] by Sunday, May 26th.

On May 19th, St. Ambrose Alumni Association celebrated the school’s 2019 graduating class with a breakfast. They were joined by the group celebrating its 25th anniversary, the group celebrating its 50th anniversary. Also attending was Mary Milani Ventucci who celebrated 80 years graduating in 1939 . Her St. Ambrose had 2 buildings. A small building where the driveway is now that held 2 classes. The big school held the rest with the Sisters of Loretto housed on the top floor. The one vivid memory she has is of the Kindergarten teacher swatting the disruptive kids. Of course it was never Mary.

FYI In the parish directory the phone number has changed for the Sick & Elderly Program. Please correct it to 314-773-7924 or if
