GLASGOW-based shopfitter, Barbour Fit Out, combines a mix of moderntechniques and traditional craftsmanship to produce quality shop-fittings and, at theheart of many creationsis Norbord’s CaberWoodMDF portfolio.

Designing innovativedisplays for prestigiousretailers such as Fossil,The White Company,Beaverbrooks and TheNational Trust for Scot-land, Barbour Fit OutSpecialists also usesCaberWood MDF inrestaurants, healthcarepractices and educa-tional establishments.

The range is made upof CaberWood MDF Pro,CaberWood MDF ProMR, CaberWood MDFTrade, CaberWood MDFTrade MR, and CaberWood MDF Industrial; the versatile board is ideal fur-niture and fittings, skirting, mouldings and staircases, for example.

The boards offer everything Barbour Fit Out needs and are preferredover other materials on the market because they are easy to cut and keep

their shape. One partic-ular benefit Barbour no-ticed with CaberWoodMDF Pro is that the coremaintains its stabilitywhen turned intomouldings which theythen spray paint.

Although the core ofCaberWood Trade MDFis less dense than Caber-Wood Pro or Caber-Wood Industrial, Bar-bour Fit Out still use it tokeep the weight of theirunitary down.

John Mitchell of Bar-bour Fit Out com-mented, “We really likeCaberWood MDF. Theproduct is easy to work

with and we intend to continue to use it on our future projects.”Norbord l Tel 01786 812921 l www.norbord.co.uk

DAVID MALPAS of CheshireJoinery visited the Joinerysoftoffices in Chipping Norton for acouple of days’ training on JMSPro and came away with morethan just the experience of thesoftware.

His first two working days werespent one-to-one alongside Joinery-

soft’s experienced in-house joiner,Andy Morgan. The progress made insetting up JMS Pro will provideCheshire Joinery with all the amaz-ing, detailed and helpful joinery andmanagement information, such as3D Drawings, mouldings, cross sec-tions, accurate timings, scheduling, pricing, fittings and workshop man-agement information.

David explained, “I visitedJoinerysoft to undertake two days’training on the Joinerysoft Prosoftware. We made excellentprogress on our system, Andy wasreally helpful and was very keenon inputting every last little detailinto the system to ensure every-thing was completely accurateand priced correctly.”

On the second day of David’straining the sun came out, thewinds died down and he was luckyenough to be in the right place atthe right time for something par-ticularly special.

In David’s words, “During my visitI was invited on a hot air balloonride by Joinerysoft’s MD, AlanTurner, flying alongside their veryown balloon to which I was verypleased to accept. We finished ourtraining and I was whisked off to anearby ‘take off’ location. Withinhalf an hour we were up in the sky! This was a beautiful trip; the skywas clear, the sun was out and wewere floating above the Cotswolds. The flight was absolutely amazing.”

David then decided to stay on foranother half a day in the Joinery-soft offices, where he was suppliedwith a computer so he could geteven more out of his training bycontinuing to set up JMS Pro, withMD Alan’s help as needed.

“Overall I had a great time withJoinerysoft and would like to saythank you to the whole team for

everything and I’m looking forwardto working with you all in the future.”

LEADING SUPPLIER of high-performance CNC routing and cuttingsolutions, AXYZ International, has announced a major rebrandingand restructuring initiative.

It embraces a change in company name, a new corporate identity anda realigned marketing strategy. Implemented by the parent company inCanada, the rebranding programme follws acquisition of the US-basedwaterjet cutting systems company WARDJet in 2018. This signalled AXYZInternational’s entry into the waterjet cutting sector and precipitated thedecision to carry out a total rebranding programme.

In consequence, AXYZ International is now trading as AXYZ Automa-tion Group, a name that recalls the company’s inception in the 1990s whenit was known as AXYZ Automation. More significantly, however, the re-brand serves as an indicationof how the company hasevolved over the years, with amuch expanded product of-fering, greater market diversi-fication and a high receptivityof the AXYZ brand by themany industries it supports.

President of AXYZ Auto-mation Group, Luke Hansen-Macdonald, commented: “Therebrand reflects our commit-ment to realigning manufac-turing output in line with thedemand for increased au-tomation and the need to pro-vide alternative solutions totraditional CNC routing sys-tems where these are consid-

ered to be more appropriate. The name of the company and its corpo-rate identity may have changed but its values remain the same.”

Supporting the rebranding programme is a visually stronger and moredistinctive three-dimensional logo and tagline, rendered in a dark blueand light blue combination.

This will give AXYZ Automation Group a new, stronger and readilyidentifiable corporate identity within the industries it operates and thoseit plans to develop in the future.

In welcoming the rebrand, UK managing director Mark Sweeney com-mented: “These changes will enhance the strong presence that the AXYZbrand has built in the UK and Ireland over the years and assist with theshared objectives of developing new market opportunities for future busi-

ness growth and prosperity.”Endorsing these senti-

ments, Vice President (MarketDevelopment) Robert Mar-shall added: “The rebrand willhelp both existing and poten-tial customers to better un-derstand and identify withwhat the AXYZ AutomationGroup now represents andhow it will continue to sup-port their business objectivesby enabling access to a muchwider product offering andnew technologies.”AXYZ Automation GroupTel 01952 291600Email: [email protected]

COMBILIFT added yet another industry award to its ever growingtally when its Combi-PPT model won the Safety Category of the FLTAAwards for Excellence 2019 on March 30th.

The Combi-PPT is a high performance pedestrian operated poweredpallet truck, the first model of which was designed following a very spe-cific request from a Combilift customer wanting to enhance operationalsafety and material flow in its manufacturing facilities. This proved to beso successful that the Combi-PPT was put into serial production last yearand models with capacities from 3,000 kgup to 16,000 kg are now available.

Its design and features such as AC pow-ered drive, steer and lifting technology en-able very large and bulky products to bemanoeuvred with ease in confined spaceswithout the use of a ride-on forklift.

Above all, it can also do this whilst en-suring maximum safety when working inareas where other personnel may be pres-ent, in busy production plants for example, thanks to Combilift’s patented multi-posi-tion tiller arm.

This incorporates tiller and operator off-set position with the touch of a button andenables excellent visibility from the side ofthe truck, also reducing any crush risk to theoperator when working in tight spaces.

According to the FLTA, “the jury was im-pressed by the PPT’s large capacity and itspotential to replace counterbalance trucks, improving safety in pedestrian areas.”

Mark Whyte, Combilift’s R&D manager,

accepted the “Archie” trophy from Andrea Maneti of the category spon-sor Trelleborg. Combilift’s managing director, Martin McVicar, com-mented: “We have won a number of awards from the FLTA over the yearsfor innovation, design achievement, ergonomics as well as the Winner ofWinners Gold Award in 2012. In the 25th year of the awards we are proudto have been recognised for our ongoing commitment to safer materialshandling with the introduction of the Combi-PPT into our product range.”Combilift l www.combilift.com

SOFTWARE FOR DESIGN & MANUFACTURE

A COMPANY MANUFACTURINGaround 65,000 doors/week forkitchen cabinets says its futurelies with robotics, automationand increased efficiencies.

Based at Dungannon in North-ern Ireland, O & S Doors usesAlphacam CAD/CAM software todrive 17 Biesse CNC routers, fourReichenbachers and one Homag. The Biesses, including two 5-axismachines, and the Homag, are allprogrammed for full productionruns, with the Reichenbacherslargely used for bulk production.

The company’s range includescabinet doors and drawer frontsmade principally from an MDFcore with PVC or acrylic fascias, along with some solid wood doors.

While recent updates to Alpha-cam’s powerful nesting functionhave substantially improved theirmaterial yield, O & S Doors’ pro-jects manager Paul McCullagh saysthe software’s five-axis capability isalso an important part of the equa-tion. “Our five axis machines giveus the capability to produce thewidest and most flexible range ofcurved doors made to order in theUK and Irish markets. Virtuallyevery design we offer can be re-created in a curved format alongwith matching accessories. The useof the Alphacam software is in-valuable in this regard.”

Alphacam’s new nesting engineimproves material yield by be-tween six and eight per cent oneach sheet, which he says equatesto a lorry-load of board everyweek. “This is contributing to-wards offsetting increased rawmaterial costs.

“Increasing efficiencies in thisway allows us to continue investingin other automation projects withinthe factory, and ultimately adds tothe company’s bottom line.”

It is automation that Paul seesas being the way forward. O & S al-ready has a robotic arm for load-ing boards at the start of theprocess where the acrylic front islaminated onto the MDF core. Inaddition, two Alphacam modules— Automation Manager and CDM(Cabinet Door Manufacture) —work in conjunction to automatebulk programming.

Once the team have importedan Excel file of all the doors ofmixed sizes for a production run,the software produces NC code forany machine on the shop floor.Alphacam area manager, DavidMcIntyre, says: “Irrespective ofhow many doors they are workingon, Automation Manager takesthe list and creates the code for allthe door sizes. It means O & SDoors does not have to carry outindividual part programming. Sowhether they are working on 50,150 or 500 doors, the whole batchis fully programmed in the sametime it would take to program justone door.

“Nowadays, a conventionalOEM CAM system processes eachfile individually, but it won’t write50 or 500 programs in just acouple of minutes. Alphacam’sAutomation Manager means 2Dand 3D CAD files, along with solidmodels from third party software, can be batch processed, from filepreparation right through toapplying toolpaths, with the NCcode automatically generated.”

Alphacam has also worked withO & S Doors on several bespokeoperations to improve efficiencyfurther, including the ability toshow accurate timings for produc-ing every sheet.

Paul McCullagh says: “We foundwe had a number of jobs waitingto be processed on the factoryfloor, but no way of knowing howlong they would take … a fullsheet could take between tenminutes and an hour.”

An Alphacam engineer spenttwo days working with them to setup a time management project for

the routers, by making bespokeamendments to the software andpostprocessor, and liaising with acompany that produced a web in-terface to monitor production onthe factory floor.

“We have now got a module toshow the time each router spendson cutting each sheet. This has ledto several improvements as wecan now easily monitor the effi-ciency of every router to ensurewe are getting the absolute bestwe can from each one.”

Concluding, Paul says, “Around90 per cent of our products gothrough Alphacam, and most or-ders have a three-day lead time, which includes a full day fromorder entry, through the nestingoperation, to the shop floor formachining. We are currently look-ing at ways of how Alphacam canhelp us reduce that to just threehours.”AlphacamTel 0118 922 6677www.alphacam.com

DUST CONTROL SYSTEMS Ltd (DCS) has installed acomplete dust extraction system, including externalfilter unit and energy-saving Ecogate® system, forLincolnshire fit-out specialist NH Shopfitting &Interiors.

Located on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, offi-cially an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, NH Shop-fitting & Interiors provides a tailored service to clientsacross the retail, commercial and leisure sectors, but thecompany has become recognised for its specialist workin the fit-out of petrol forecourt shop interiors, food out-lets and washrooms.

Established over 20 years ago by MD Nicholas Hunt, the company has enjoyed exceptional growth over re-cent years, and has partnered with key site operators tomeet the growing demand for customer-focused con-venience and food service outlets at UK filling stations.

Joinery manufacture is at the heart of the company’sactivities, and the growth in sales has necessitated in-vestment in both machinery and premises. NH Shop-fitting now operates from a 4,000 m2 site, with work-shops and offices, a generous parking and loading area, and a joinery production space that has increased by50% since the business moved here in 2014.

Ray Townley, area sales manager for DCS, visited thesite to discuss NH Shopfitting’s growing dust extractionrequirements with project manager Stephen Jordan and,as Ray explains: “Dust extraction was previously providedby several stand-alone bag filter units located adjacentto production machinery but, as the production area ex-panded and new machines were installed, the ageingbag units had finally reached their limitations.”

The system design for NH Shopfitting was going to berelatively straightforward; the old bag units would bescrapped and replaced with a high-efficiency, externally-sited and ATEX-approved filter unit with a 30 kW directdrive extraction fan, new FastClip ductwork systemrouted to all the machines and, as recommended by theATEX regulations, a CARZ back-pressure isolation valvewhich, in the event of an explosion in the filter unit, pre-vents the effects of a pressure wave and flames travel-ling from the filter, back along ductwork, and into thefactory.

NH Shopfitting operates atypical range of high-poweredmachinery including a number ofsaws, an edgebander, a heavy-duty wide belt sander, and a high-speed HOLZ-HER CNC machine. However, and again typical offit-out joinery manufacturing, constantly varying productiondemands dictate that all themachines are never in operation atthe same time.

“Having surveyed the premisesand reviewed the extractionrequirements with Stephen, thisinstallation appeared to be ashoe-in for the inclusion of anEcogate® controller and automaticdampers,” says Ray Townley, “so I

agreed with Stephen that I wouldvisit again with Ian Rayner,Ecogate’s sales manager.

“As anticipated, Ian Rayner wasable to demonstrate that incorpo-rating Ecogate technology intothe system would significantly re-duce the amount of electricityconsumed by the extraction fan;effectively halving the extractionsystem running costs.” Ian Rayner’scalculations showed that includ-ing Ecogate in the system wouldgenerate sufficient savings to re-cover the additional capital ex-penditure in less than three yearsand, in addition, installing the Eco-gate system negated the need toinclude Star-Delta starters; reduc-ing the base cost of the extraction

system. “Installing Ecogate® tech-nology optimises fan speed, inreal-time, to exactly match extrac-tion demand,” says Ian Rayner. “AtNH Shopfitting, the maximum airvolume capacity requirement is al-most 15% less than the total airvolume would be with the fan ex-tracting continuously from all ma-chines — as it would be withoutEcogate — and the average vol-ume requirement is reduced by aminimum of 22%.”

DCS installed an NFSZ30002HJLR rotary valve filter, withpatented antistatic Superbag filtermedia, and a reverse air regenera-tion fan provides efficient filtercleaning.

Side access doors, reached via an

elevated gangway, allow access tothe filter media for inspection andmaintenance, and the waste dust isdelivered pressure-free from the fil-ter unit, via rotary valve, into a cov-ered skip.

“We were impressed by the pro-fessional service DCS providedfrom start to finish,” says StephenJordan. “We’ve now got an efficient,

cost-effective system that we canvirtually forget about; we’ll bemaking savings on electricity costsfor years to come and in winter wecan heat the factory with clean, warm air from the filter unit.”Dust Control Systems LtdTel 0800 040 7116Email [email protected]

Saving space and time with Lamont NORD BUILD & Design Ltd specialises in higher end refurbishments. Working in the London area, the company has an excellent reputationfor its bespoke interiors and joinery. Founded in 2011, the company now employs five people. Through word of mouth, it has on its books

sufficient work for the next six months. Last year Nord Build & Design Ltd in-vested in a clamp and Woodwelder from Lamont.

“We were making doors and had quite big orders,” owner Donatas Urbona-vicius told PW&SS. “It took so long to clamp everything by hand and keep every-thing in the clamps in a small space. Imagine if I made of lot of frames today (say40): if I were using sash clamps, I would need to leave them overnight. With thismachine you clamp, weld, take it out and you are on to the next one.”

Once the need for a clamping system was realised, Donatas began to researchthe market. “We searched for different makes. Some looked expensive and wereonly made for what they were made, for example in terms of size. Lamont has op-tions. Alan Lamont listens to what you want and makes the machine to meet yourrequirements from scratch. This ability to be bespoke was very attractive. You needto make sure that you know what sizes you will be working with. Our machine isdesigned for 3.2 m workpieces.

“We use the Lamont system extensively: for doors, drawers, windows, boxesand carcasses, for example. We also use it to laminate a few pieces of timber to-gether. It is used for everything.

“It saves space as well as time. The clamping machine is up on the first (mezza-nine) floor, next to the sander. It fits well into our premises.

“The system also offers improved accuracy: with the presets you are alwayssquare. You can double check with the tape measure, but it is not really necessary.”

Asked if he would recommend the Lamont system and the company, Donatasreplied, “Yes, of course. Alan is very flexible, he will always ring and ask you for thedetails of the machine you want. There have already been a few enquiries frompeople visiting our workshop who have seen the system and asked for Alan's con-tact details. One is our timber supplier. They have been in business for a long timeand are a big timber yard, but also offer a laminating service. Other joiners alsocome in, look at it and like it: they can all see the advantages.”Lamont l Tel 01461 40017Email [email protected] l www.clampingmachines.co.uk

A TEESSIDE joinery company is saying goodbye to unnecessary heating and waste dis-posal bills after buying a new wood waste heater from Wood Waste Technology.

Tees Tech Joinery Ltd has been established over 13 years, specialising in the creativemanufacturing of quality bespoke joinery projects including kitchens, bedrooms and bath-rooms from its premises in Billingham. As a joinery manufacturer, the business was spend-ing a great deal of money regularly on skips to remove its wood offcuts and other waste, and gas to heat its 4,000 ft2 workshop during the colder months.

On a trip to the W joinery exhibition at the NEC, managing director of Tees Tech Joinery,Dean Price learned about the benefits of investing in a wood waste heater, and how it couldreduce waste disposal costs and provide free heating.

Following more information and a site survey, Wood Waste Technology’s specialistengineers installed a WT5 wood waste heater into the factory last year.

Dean says: “We are delighted to have found Wood Waste Technology and the company’srange of wood waste heaters. Once we understood the benefits, investing in one was com-mon sense. We did some calculations and realised that the wood waste heater would easilypay for itself in less than two years because of the savings we would make on heating andwaste disposal costs. In fact, we had the gas heaters removed because we just don’t needthem since the wood waste heater was installed, as it generates more than enough heat forour workshop.”

Wood Waste Technology offers a full range of wood waste heaters, from small hand firedunits to larger fully automatic systems, and offers site survey and design, as well as manu-facture, installation and on-going maintenance. The company also services all types of woodwaste heaters and supplies genuine spares.

In addition, Wood Waste Technology is the UK’s official distributor for Gross ApparatebauGmbH, a German manufacturer of dependable, precision engineered shredders and bri-quetters. The company is also a distributor for Putzmaus boiler tube cleaning systems — apowerful but gentle routine maintenance solution that is quick and easy to use, and helpsto increase boiler efficiency and lower operating costs.Wood Waste Technology l Tel 01785 250400www.woodwastetechnology.co.uk l www.grossuk.co.uk l www.putzmaus.co.uk

LIGNA PREVIEW: HANNOVER, 27-29 MAY 2019

SCM, A WORLD LEADER in thefield of secondary woodworkingtechnologies, is gearing up forthe next edition of Ligna (Han-nover, 27-31 May 2019), havingachieved a double-digit growthrate in the last two years whichpropelled the group over the700 million turnover target atthe end of 2018, with a techno-logical range of products in-creasingly in line with Industry4.0 requirements.

After launching its “Lean Cell4.0” for highly automated indus-trial production two years ago, from this same Hannover event,SCM now goes further with itsbreakthrough concept of SmartManufacturing. From its over4,000 m2 booth in Hall 13, the Ital-ian woodworking giant will pres-ents its “Smart&Human Factory”: acutting-edge production modelbased on digital and automationsystems and allowing for ad-vanced man-machine interactionand 360° control over the entireproduction flow.

A model based on highly inno-vative, flexible, modular and easilyreconfigurable systems, designedto respond in an increasingly ef-fective and fast way to the chal-lenges of mass customisation.

A new “smart and human” fac-tory — also making progress interms of work flow: thanks to theintegration of robots, low-addedvalue and repetitive human tasksare now minimised.

“Ligna 2019 will be one of thekey international events for SCM— traditionally a historic and reli-able partner for the entire wood-working industry,” explains theSCM Division Director, Luigi DeVito. “We will showcase top-leveltechnological innovation, de-signed to support more and more

companies in their business andhelp them meet new Industry 4.0requirements.

“The current, new productiontrends, which will be the focus ofthe next edition of Ligna, are ex-pected to widen the gap betweenmore and less intensively auto-mated companies. By offering anew model of interaction betweenmachines and industrial and col-laborative robotics, ground-levellogistic handling and software,SCM will have as its mission tohelp partner companies work to-ward achievable, successful andsmart goals.”

“You will never work alone”The claim “You will never workalone” effectively summarises thegoal of the new SCM productrange: to supply a “user-friendly”wood panel processing automa-tion system, with the option to re-

configure the production processwhenever this is necessary, toquickly process increasinglysmaller “order to production”batches.

After previewing a workingapplication of its “Smart&HumanFactory” at the Open House 2019event on 31 January through to 2February, which drew crowds tothe company’s Technology Centreof Rimini (Italy), SCM will showcasean even richer version at the nextLigna.

An automated system for all thephases of furniture production willbe presented: from furniture de-signing to the generation of ma-chine programs and from panelprocessing to cabinet assembling.

The process aims at optimisingas much as possible panel cutting, edgebanding and drilling opera-tions, so as to reduce waste, rejectsand retooling requirements dur-

ing product changeovers, to thenreassemble orders back togetherat the end of the process and de-laying customisation until thisstage.

With this system, low-addedvalue and repetitive human tasksare minimised, thanks to the useof KUKA industrial anthropomor-phic robots, assisted by collabora-tive Universal Robots in the finalprocess stages (assembly, hard-ware insertion, glue dispensingand surface finishing) and ensur-ing totally safe conditions withoutthe use of enclosures.

Finally, process logistics aremade flexible thanks to the use ofMiR intelligent autonomous self-driving shuttles.

The entire process will be man-aged and supervised by theMaestro Watch supervision soft-ware — monitoring the state ofeach of the products being ma-

chined throughout the process, and by the IoT Maestro Connectsystem — which collects andanalyses SCM technology data, en-suring on the one hand full controlover the production flow and, onthe other, the implementation ofsmart predictive maintenancemodels.

News from the “Digital”frontierAt Ligna 2019, SCM will add to itsdigital range, by combining digitaltechnologies with high addedvalue, specifically targeted ser-vices. The Digital Hub, the innova-tion control centre at the core ofthe exhibition booth, will displayall the latest products.

To meet the needs of 4.0 indus-trial production, the “Maestro Con-nect” IoT platform will beextended to new technologies ap-plied to the wide range of SCMmachining options (cutting, edge-banding, boring, milling, nesting-milling and edge machining) forboth panels and solid wood.

In addition, the system featuresare enhanced thanks to the intro-

duction of a new sensor kit able todetect the changes in crucial ma-chine components. This evolveddata collection and analysis sys-tem originating from SCM ma-chinery, combined with MaestroSmartech augmented reality vi-sual technology, aims to offer theclient excellent product flow con-trol, achieve rapid, intelligentmaintenance and effective plan-ning of a spare parts strategy.

The new “upgrades” for MaestroSuite software will be featured.Maestro Active (special mention atthe latest German Design Award)is the new HMI application which, combined with the touch eye-Mcontrol panel, has revolutionisedthe human-machine interface.

The project will be launched atLigna on machining centres, panelboring devices, panel saws andedge banders offering all thesetechnologies a single environ-ment for use and a commongraphic interface, making the op-erator’s work notably easier, andproviding a single structure ofareas and functions.

The new “upgrades” for Maestro

Suite software will also be show-cased. In addition to the latest ver-sion of the supervision softwarefor the Maestro Watch integratedcell systems, the Maestro CNC2019 version will be released withmajor updates for CNC machiningcentres and drilling machines.User-friendly, intuitive software, which, most importantly, can beintegrated and interface withother systems used by customers.

which will be showcased with acomplete makeover that makesset-up and use easier, with morepowerful electrospindles and afurther reinforced structure toguarantee high performance, reli-ability and safety.

Timber construction will see theworld preview of Oikos X, the newmachining centre, specifically de-signed to machine structural ele-ments, X-lam/CLT wall panels, fitted with the new 6-axis machin-ing head unit that allows any ma-chining work to be carried out onevery side of the element from asingle position and in reducedspaces.

New entries also for doubleended squaring and shaping ma-chines: at the trade fair you will geta chance to see the Celaschi P40 inoperation, fitted with electronicspindle, an innovative solutionwhich will soon be standard onthe whole range.

Its aim is to continuously im-prove operating reliability and effi-ciency especially in morechallenging tasks like the process-ing of particularly abrasive materi-als and the production of largesized pieces.

Other important “new entries”in panel technologies, startingwith the new range of CNC Mor-bidelli X200 and X400 machiningcentres, that applies the best fiveaxes “All-in-one” technology per-formance to nesting processing, inline with market demands in-creasingly focused on “batch-1”production and which, therefore, need to combine high speed andmaximum flexibility in panel cut-ting outlines.

On show for the first time atLigna 2019 is also the new Mor-bidelli CX 220 drilling centre, afocal point in the compact cate-gories, providing even better per-formance in terms of finishingquality, precision and productivity, and Morbidelli UX 200D, fittedwith the exclusive dual variable-axis broaches and the new Clamexoperating units for joints.

The best of Gabbiani technol-ogy will take centre stage for siz-ing, with new devices aimed atprocessing delicate panels, in linewith SCM’s keen focus on surfacetreatment.

The Gabbiani sizing machineson display at the trade fair will in-clude the exclusive Flexstore HPwarehouse management system, characterised by the Saw-Set de-vice to make tool settings evenfaster and more exact.

As far as edgebanding is con-cerned, there is great anticipationsurrounding Stefanicell, the newgeneration of cells for “batch-1”processing, with high-tech solu-tions, even with minimal invest-ment, and the new Pickbackbridge system for the automaticreturn of panels, that guaranteessimple, “just in time” productionmanagement.

The Stefani range will present a

new generation rounding unitwith servo-assisted technology, designed to work even the mostdelicate panels with surprisingcontinuity and quality.

For the Olimpic range, the newglue tank is worth pointing out, with technological solutions for aperfect line of glue and a new gluescraper to process panels comingfrom the nesting cycle.

The solution put forward forassembly is the semi-automaticaction clamp, aimed at assembledfurniture manufacturers and avalid aid in assembling each partof the furniture with precision andquality. For the first time ever, theclamp will be presented withsemi-automatic loading and un-loading ergonomic systems, served by an input translationshuttle and 90° output flipper tomake the subsequent stages ofthe work easier.

There are numerous “newentries” for carpentry machinestoo, the key ones being dictatedby automation. To mention but afew, PX 350i is the new circular sawwith mobile cart and tilting bladeup to 46°, that can house bladesup to 350 mm (up to 300 mmusing the engraver function). Thisensures maximum safety whileworking, with reduced bulk andguarantees a perfect hold on thepanel thanks to the exclusivepresser. The “Ready” control posi-tioned on the wall unit, guaran-tees motorised and programmedmovement of the blade tilt andpowered and programmable rearstop, guaranteeing a rapid, exactpositioning and reducing operatormovement.SCM Group UK LtdTel 0115 977 0044www.scmgroup.me.uk
