NOTES The following notes will help you to understand TIMELINE™ to a degree but will be much easier to read once you invest in your own copy. Visit www.hh-bb.com

Introduction

Akin to a world map, TIMELINE™ is produced to depict the general 8000 year relationship between African & European civilizations denoted here by the mathematical formula:

5000 > 1 B.C. – A.D. 1 < 3000

Displayed on a scroll of 18 consecutive panels each depicting a period of

500 years; Panels 15 to 1 show the ancient past to the present and the panels A, B & C, the present millennium and some areas for appreciation and future development issues, especially those influencing young people.

As shown above, the B.C. / A.D. zones are denoted by colour with a

yellow bar above containing the dates, recorded in either Red or Blue. Please try your best to visualise the TIMELINE™ without any of the images or information on it to best understand the fundamental construct.

The century gates and titles are shown on the line in bright green:

The TIMELINE™ shows a continuum of civilizations and empires by duration as coloured bars with a start date, for example:

Take care to differentiate between the idea of a civilization (a higher state

of being above barbarism) and that of an empire (an extensive territory dominated by a supreme political force). Symbolically, Heru-em-Aket (aka The Sphinx) best represents this state of being where the Human attributes are placed above the body of the lion…King of the Beasts! Please note the argument around the dating of this statue and concept.

Red = B.C. Blue = A.D.

The continuum of the highly important civilization of Kemet (Egypt) is shown in two aspects as guided by the research of Dr Asa G. Hilliard. Differentiation is made between the political control (blue) and the cultural expression (red).

Dynastic periods (a succession of rulers from the same family or lineage) are shown in shades of purple beneath the two other lines.

The two devastating periods that have profoundly damaged African

traditional culture by slavery & colonialism are displayed by the following “age” bars;

KEY CONTENT

By putting into context the vast African historical continuum, TIMELINE™ defeats the all too often inferred notion that African history begins with Trans - Atlantic slavery and further claims by Arab / Turkish and European Empire builders that they brought civilization to Africa! Plates 15 - 4 clearly show thousands of years of civilization before either of these arrivals.

“I heard that Pythagoras’ Theory was used to build the Pyramids…” It was

in response to this genuine request for information framed by this premise that I drew my first TIMELINE™ to substantiate my bloody-minded response to a very well meaning colleague! I could’ve handled it much better with confidence and competence if I’d had the 20 / 20 vision of hindsight! Please check where Pythagoras lies on this historical continuum depicted on what is known as “The Short Chronology”, in relation to where the Pyramids were built - you will find a huge gap!

The slim vertical orange line on Plate 1 denotes the point in the late 19th

Century A.D. where the colonisation of Africa was agreed at the Berlin conference of 1884 with the treaty being signed by the European nations in 1885. Please note how recent this took place in relation to the continuation of African civilization & culture.

Please also note the duration of the United States of America as an

independent nation from 1776 to now, shown by the “Stars and Stripes” flag towards the base of Plate 1.

Consider the mind-set of the Ancient Kemites (aka Egyptians) that could

achieve architectural feats that still baffle contemporary science and scientists. The ancients clearly understood the potentiality and capability of the human mind, but secreted it in symbolism and codes. Recent personal development phenomena such as Rhonda Byrne’s smash hit self-help book, ‘The Secret’ begin with this ancient African content but pay scant regard to any depth of analysis.

This latent Human potential is still with us waiting to be awakened by the

correct stimuli. Please note the ‘brain hemispheres’ chart at the beginning of the TIMELINE™.

Please note the following:

‘Our Brain is like the Earth…both have Hemispheres.

What goes on in the Brain, we call our Mind. What happens on the Earth, we call the World.

Whoever controls the mind… controls the World!’

The overall content of the TIMELINE™ is designed with the intention of (re) introducing the viewer to what the author James Redfield describes in his book ‘The Celestine Prophecy’ as “The Longer now!”. This is where the viewer can look past the skeptical restraints of empirical training and the dogmatic beliefs taught by the modern age and connect to the more natural female dominant genetic continuum (Mitochondrial DNA). This is represented at the beginning of the TIMELINE™ by the Sankofa & Egg Logo (also on the cover), the Lineage Throne and the Caduceus Symbol with DNA Helix.

The ‘Interface Model’ (see Plate B.) shows the role of history as being the

root to ‘cultural capital’ in building the powers of an individual’s personal confidence and professional competence when meeting people within the existing global culture. History gives profound backing to the individual’s “5 C’s of Awareness” during the Interface process. As such, the TIMELINE™ can be viewed as “An Essential Aid for the World Citizen”.

The African Traditional Symbolic Thought processes are interestingly

challenged by the author Edgar J. Riley in his short book, ‘The Neurological Misadventures of Primordial Man’ (see plate A.). It is clear that with the onset of highly effective media and the resulting influence, a new level of symbolic maturity is needed to comprehend and counteract any negative effects.

KEY USES

As stated previously, the TIMELINE™ is akin to a geo-political map of the World where the B.C. / A.D. structure is the geographical construct and the information placed on it the political constructs (i.e. national boundaries).

The ideal placing of the TIMELINE™ is near to a World map. For political

and economic enlightenment, Hogarth Blake recommends ‘The Peters Projection’ World Map and Atlas. (See the Arno Peters map on Plate A).

We recommend the following sizes for different uses:

A6 TIMELINE™ The pocket-sized version is perfect for children & those on a budget. A5 TIMELINE™ The bag-sized version is more suited to display on walls. SUPERSIZE TIMELINE™ (A3 / A2 / A1) These versions can be shared by dozens at a time. Suitable only for large classroom & hall displays.

The teaching of context is vitally important to give anyone a rounded

understanding of historical data. Just as with the process of justice, we must not only be able to comprehend “where” an incident took place, we must also be able to understand “when” in relative time the event occurred.

The TIMELINE™ therefore allows us to clearly visualise not only the

“where” and “when”, but also the “what” and “who” in the contextualisation process. This can lead us better ascertaining the “how” and finally the “why” certain historical incidents took place in an associative process, instead of the all-to-familiar disjointed sense of history many people possess.

In schools, the TIMELINE™ provides the viewer with a solid framing tool

for the study of history by placing civilizations, empires, concepts, personalities, incidents and buildings in chronological order; the first skill required in Key Stages 2, 3 & 4 of the UK Schools and National Curriculum:

1. Chronological understanding 2. Knowledge & understanding of events, people & changes in the past

3. Historical interpretation 4. Historical enquiry 5. Organisation & communication

This also provides a framework for individual study and personal

development when studying general history, but is vital for studying “Black” History especially when studying utilising African-centred references. (See area 3 above – Historical interpretation)
