Special Warning: Because of the high-profile (ridged-top) of the RidgeStone™ Series and the embossed surface of

our Roman Cobble® Line, protection is needed when using a plate compactor in order to avoid scratching the

surface. The recommended application is the use of a layer between the compactor and the pavers. This can be a

mat, cardboard, thin plywood, carpeting or soil separation fabric.

CST suggests using one of these separators with All of our paving lines to protect your investment.

CST’s Antiqued Texture™ pavers are made using state-of-the-art tumbling technology in order to

create a surface which appears more weathered and worn than our standard finish pavers. It helps give the

“Old World” Cobblestone appearance which has become widely popular in today’s hardscape market.

Several of our paving stones lines are offered in Antiqued Texture™.

Warning: When pavers have a raised or embossed surface, protection is needed when using a plate compactor in order to avoid

scratching the surface. The recommended application is the use of a layer between the compactor and the pavers. This can be a mat,

cardboard, thin plywood, carpeting or soil separation fabric. CST suggests using one of these separators with All of our paving lines.

COLORS: Available in Natural OnlyPermeable Interlocking Concrete Pavement (PICP) comprises a layer of solid concrete pavers separated by joints filled with small stones.

Water enters the joints between the pavers and into an “open-graded” base-crushed stone layer with no small or fine particles. The void

spaces among the crushed stone store water and infiltrate it back into the soil subgrade. The stones in the joints provide

permeability, and the base filters stormwater and helps reduce pollutants.

Using Vienna Classic Large Cube

• The Five Size Random pattern is determined by the length of the horizontal and vertical seams. The shorter the straight

lines, the more random the pattern. The most random of patterns won’t have seams exceeding the length of all five pieces,

either horizontally or vertically.

• A random pattern is the best option when using just the Vienna Classic Small Cube since the piece count won’t work

for a 1-to-1-to-1 pattern. The Vienna Classic Large Cube (if used alone) does, however, lend itself to a 2-to1 pattern as

shown below.

•In order to make the above pattern using only the Vienna Classic Small Cube, you will have to modify (for each cube

used) three of the 6”x6” pieces by cutting them in half (making two 6”x3”) and using 3 of the 6”x9” pieces in place of the

6”x3”, 6”x6” combo rows. By doing this, you will make the cube capable of a 1-to-1-to-1 random herringbone design.

**See Details 1 & 2 views below.

Cut 3 pieces in half

to make two

6”x3”s for each

cube used.

Use 3 pieces of 6”x9”in

place of where a 6”x3” &

6”x6” would normally go

in this pattern in each

cube used.

Warning: When pavers have a raised or embossed surface, protection is needed when using a plate compactor in

order to avoid scratching the surface. The recommended application is the use of a layer between the compactor

and the pavers. This can be a mat, cardboard, thin plywood, carpeting or soil separation fabric. CST suggests using

one of these separators with All of our paving lines.

To find the square footage of a circle, you take the radius (half of the distance

straight across the circle), square it, and multiply by pi (π).

Example: An 8 ft. circle

π= 3.14

The radius of an 8’ circle is 4 ft. Square the 4’ and multiply by pi:

3.14 x 4(2) which equals 3.14 x 16 = 50.24 sq ft. for the circle.

If you know the square footage and want to know what size circle fits,

the formula is: Example: 252 sq. ft. area

π r(2) = 252 s/f Divide pi into 252 s/f that will equal r(2) or 81.

You must then find the square root of 81 or 9 (square root is the number

multiplied by itself to equal 81). 9 (the square root of 81) is half the diameter

of the circle. Double that, or 9 + 9=a diameter of an 18 foot circle.

To find the circumference of a circle (the outside measurement around the

circle):

(pi) π x diameter (the measurement straight across the circle)

Example: A 8 ft. circle

3.14 x 8’ = 25.12 lineal feet

INTERLOCKING CONCRETE PAVER INSTALLATION:

Professionals and do-it-yourselfers alike can install interlocking concrete pavers successfully. You will probably have to rent

some tools that the average homeowner does not have. If you take your time and pay close attention to the base preparation, you

will be pleased with the results.

EXCAVATION:

Before digging, always call your local utility company to locate any underground lines. In general terms, a minimum of 4” of

compacted aggregate base is recommended for patios and walkways, and 8” for residential driveways where freeze/thaw condi-

tions exist. Add 3” for the depth of the bedding sand and the paver thickness to determine the total depth to excavate. Excavation

should be 6”wider than the finished pavement’s dimensions on sides where edge restraint is to be used. Slope and grade are im-

portant to ensure proper runoff. It is best to plan at least a 1/4” per foot drop, but try not to exceed 1/2” per foot.

BASE PREPARATION:

As with any building project, the finished pavers will be only as good as the construction of the base. For this reason, this is the

MOST important part of the installation process.

First, run your plate compactor over the excavated area, making sure that the soil does not get stuck to the bottom of the

plate tamper. Each pass should overlap the previous one by about 4”. Compaction should be performed in one direction

(north-south)then a second time at a right angle (east-west) to the first compaction. It is suggested that a soil separation

fabric be laid down over the compacted sub grade, especially in moist or wet areas, to separate virgin soil from the base.

Now spread your stone base material out evenly in a 2” layer. If material is dry and dusty, use a garden hose to evenly

moisten it down. This will help make the gravel easier to rake and faster to compact.

Starting around the outer perimeter, use the plate compactor to pack together the base, again overlapping each pass

about 4” and working towards the center. You should make at least two complete passes for each layer. Repeat this process

for each subsequent layer of base material until the final thickness is achieved. After final compaction, check the entire area

for proper pitch and level conditions. The base should now reflect the final grade of your pavers. If you were to place a straight

edge on the surface, there should be no more than a 1/4” gap at any point along the straight edge.

EDGE RESTRAINTS:

The borders for your layout design may now be put into place. The edging is laid directly upon the quarry process base and

secured with 10” steel spikes. One spike should be used every (2) feet for walkways and patios and every one (1) foot for

driveways and radii.

SAND SETTING BED:

A setting bed of concrete sand can now be spread on top of the compacted base. Note: It is always important to keep your

sand dry. Always keep your sand covered in case of rain. It is suggested that you only screed sand for areas where you will be

laying pavers that same day. Lay the screed guides (1” outside diameter electrical conduit, strips of wood or other suitable rigid

material) on top of the compacted base material 4’- 6’ apart and parallel. For narrow areas such as walkways, the PVC edging can

be used as a guide with a notched 2x4” board. When the pavers are set on the sand and compacted, the 1” of sand will compress

to 1/2” to 5/8” thickness.

INSTALLATION OF PAVERS:

All projects must start a perfect 90-degree angle. Use the 3-4-5-triangle method to establish this. For an even mix of pavers,

select pavers from multiple cubes for optimum color blending. Starting from a permanent edge such as a house, driveway, or even

a piece of rigid PVC edge restraint, lay your first paver starting from either side. String lines will assist in assuring straight

lines. Spacingbetween paversshould not exceed 1/8”. Set pavers lightly on the sand, never press or hammer them in. If you are

doing the project over a couple of days, cover the entire area with plastic overnight if rain is expected.

COMPACTING AND SWEEPING:

Spread and sweep sand over the entire top of the pavers using a stiff bristle broom. Vibrating with a plate compactor will force

the sand between the joints stabilizing and leveling the final surface. The recommeded application is the use of a layer between

the compactor and the pavers. Excess sand should be swept in the joints. Resweep additionally as necessary.

An Overview for CST Paving Stone Installations

All paver sizes are nominal and should

be pre-measured when doing a job

where exact dimensions are critical.

Maintenance: CST Turf-Stone pavers planted with grass require the same maintenance as lawns, such as watering, mowing, removal of weeds

and occasional fertilizing. Turf-Stone is planted with grass, because the salt will kill the vegetation. Placing #8 aggregate may be used inside

the Turf-Stone openings as an alternative. Snow can be plowed from Turf-Stone if the plow blade is raised slightly above the surface. Because

of their large slab-style shape, Turf-Stone pavers may crack during compaction or while in use. One or two cracks in a unit will not affect the

structural integrity or its performance.

CST Permeable Interlocking Concrete Paver Detail (PICP)An open-graded base is most commonly used

because it has water storage capacity (void

space between the aggregates) of typically

30% to 40%. The stone sizes in open-graded

bases can be as large as 3 in. (75 mm) and as

small as 1D4 in. (6 mm). There is typically a

thinner layer of small stone sizes (6 mm to 1

mm) used for bedding directly under the con-

crete pavers. The bedding and base bedding

material maximizes storage, filtering, and

treatment of pollutants in stormwater runoff

entering the pavement surface. Open-graded

bases are preferred because of the storage and

treatment benefits.

If soil infiltration is slow (generally under 0.5 in./hour or 1.3 x 10-2 m/sec), perforated plastic pipe drains at the

bottom of the base can remove excess water while still allowing some of the water to infiltrate into the soil. The

drainage rate for the water contained in the base is typically no greater than 24 hours. Over practically impervi-

ous soils or high bedrock, an impervious pond liner can be used to detain, filter and release the water through

drain pipes. Regardless of the rate of soil infiltration, the filtering action of the open-graded base can reduce

water pollutants.

What is MONO-CAST®?With CST’s MONO-CAST® process, the strength and colors goes all the way through the paver, the color won’t wear away. CST uses extremely high quality pigments to color ourproducts. Unlike some pavers that have a thin “topcoat,” CST pavers are coloredthroughout the entire paver. Because of the sun’s ultraviolet rays some overall fadingmay occur on any pavers.

How do I clean my Pavers?CST recommends using one of the many Techni-Seal Cleaners that we offer. Contact your local dealer for theirrecommendation on which Techni-Seal cleaner is best for you.

Should I seal my pavers?Sealers help in enhancing colors and resisting stains. Techni-Seal has a variety of sealers available, includingsome that are high gloss, and some that are matte surface. You must wait at least a full season before applying

a sealer.

Will weeds grow up through the pavers?Weeds do not grow up from below the pavers through the quarry process base. The growth of weeds andgrasses results from airborne seeds. Ask your local dealer for their recommendations on which type of weedkiller to use for your particular application. But for best results, use Techni-Seal Polymeric Sand during the in-stallation of your pavers to eliminate weeds, ants, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions on Permeable Pavers

Will snow plowing damage pavers?Snow removal is the same as with other pavements. Just plow, shovel or use a snow blower.

What is efflorescence?Efflorescence is a whitish powder-like deposit which sometimes appears on concrete and clayproducts. The deposit is the residue of a soluble salt (inherent in concrete products) carried to the face of the product by moisture and left on the surface as a dried white powder. Efflorescence is completely natural and will disappear with time.

What are Permeable Pavers?Permeable interlocking concrete pavement (PICP) is comprised of a layer of concrete pavers separated byjoints filled with small stones. Water enters joints between solid concrete pavers and flows through an "open-graded" base, i.e. crushed stone layers with no small or fine particles. The void spaces among the crushedstones store water and infiltrate it back into the soil subgrade. The stones in the joints provide 100% surfacepermeability and the base filters stormwater and reduces pollutants.

Do you install Permeable Pavers just like regular pavers? No. Permeable Pavers are installed over an open-graded stone aggregate base with no fines. Standard paversare installed over a crushed stone base with a sand setting bed.

Are Permeable Pavers worse or better than regular pavers in winter conditions? When the sun and temperature are right, ice and snow on PICPs (Permeable Interlocking Concrete Pavement)can melt and immediately soak into the pavement surface. Water does not collect on the surface and re-freeze. This reduces slipping hazards. Sand should not be used for foot or tire traction on PICP. Deicing salts can be used. After plowing, melting of any remaining snow can occur if the temperature rises above freezing. This will help eliminate ice from forming and reduce salt contamination in groundwater. They have the same ability to accept snow plows & blowers without paver damage.

Are there different kinds of Permeable Pavers? There are Grass Pavers which can have vegetation planted in the holes or voids. CST calls theirs Turf-Stone. Interlocking Concrete Pavers are a popular choice in permeable paving. They are filled with open-graded stone aggregates. CST manufactures four different designs of this kind of permeable.

Does the surface conform to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements?Yes. ADA Design Guidelines require that surfaces be firm, stable and slip resistant. PICP designs can provide a firm and stable surface for visually impaired persons and those using wheeled mobility devices. If the openings in the surface are not desirable, solid units can be used in areas subject to disabled persons.Such areas might include designated spaces in parking lots.

How is a PICP surface cleaned and how often? The openings in the surface of PICPs will require periodic removal of detritus and sediment trapped by thesmall sized crushed stone. Dirt is typically removed by a vacuum-sweeping street cleaning machine. Cleaningis done when the pavement surface and detritus are dry and can be loosened by sweeping and vacuuming. Thefrequency of cleaning will vary with the used of the pavement and position of the sediment, leaves, etc. fromadjacent areas. Cleaning should be done at least once a year, and the surface monitored during the early life ofthe pavement so that a regular cleaning schedule can be established.

With the Veranda Combo Kits, 90-degree corners can be made with just a few splits. We

recommend using 1 Large unit split in half for your corner pieces. From the corner, continue on

using a running bond. Alternate the first unit coming off the corner on each course to break up

the pattern. Veranda Units do not have split lines, so a hydra-splitter, will be necessary. A

masonry hammer field dressing may also be necessary to achieve the Weathered™ look.

VeRSA-LoK® solid concrete units may be easily used to

create an unlimited variety of corners.

outside 90 degree corner units are easily

created by splitting VeRSA-LoK® standard units in half.

Alternate half units as shown above. This creates about a

four-inch overlap of the units below. This is acceptable -

Versa-Lok® units do not need to be exactly halfway over

the lower units (half-bond).

Half units on outside 90 degree corners do not pin. It

is recommended to secure them using Versa-Lok®

concrete adhesive.

No unit modification is necessary to install inside 90

degree corners. Place full-size standard units as

shown below, adjusting for proper vertical joint

arrangement.

Corners

See VeRSA-LoK® Technical Bulletin # 3 for more corner details including properplacement of geosynthetic soil reinforcement.

Contact: www.versa-lok.com for more information

All odd numbered rows

All even numbered rowsThe illustration represents alternating courses and that

VeRSA-LoK® Standard units are modified to create

45˚ outside corners. Split units where textured faces

are desired and visible. Saw-cut units when straight

edges are needed to fit closely next to

adjacent units.

Alternating corner units should overlap--do not butt or

miter corners! If corners are butted or mitered, differ-

ential movement between “separate walls” can occur.

IMPoRTANT! Versa-Grid® must be unrolled and installed

perpendicular to the retaining wall face. Failure to install in this

direction may result in structurally unsafe wall conditions. If

unsure about any wall construction procedures, please contact

CST or VeRSA-LoK at (800) 770-4525.

The maximum unreinfored wall height varies depending on site conditions, but does not exceed four feet.

Taller walls require soil reinforcement designed by a qualified engineer.

Properly designed, Versa-Grid®

reinforced walls may be economically

constructed to heights exceeding 40 feet.

Estimating Chart

40 © CST 4/11

This is the exact same chart that is needed for

retaining walls built using VeRSA-LoK® Standard

Units and VeRSA-LoK® Square Foot™ Units.

These tables are provided for estimating purposes only. They should

not be used or relied upon for any application without verification of

accuracy, suitability, and applicability for the use contemplated, which is

the sole responsibility of the user. A final, project specific design should be

prepared by a qualified, licensed, professional Civil Engineer (P.E.) based

on actual site conditions. Preparation of these tables did not include

consideration or analysis of global slope stability or allowable bearing

capacity of foundation soils. These must be reviewed for each project by a

qualified Geotechnical Engineer.

There are three tables provided in this guide to help estimate geogrid for

different wall loading situations--level backfill, sloping backfill, and

surcharges. To estimate geogrid quantities, first look under the columnappropriate for the project soils, determine the height (H) of the proposed

wall and read across for the row (under appropriate soil column) to

approximate geogrid type, number of layers, and lengths of each layer.

These design charts assume the following conditions:

• Uniform soil conditions

• Stable foundation soils

• Level grade in front of the wall

• No groundwater/water loads

• Slopes and loads behind

the wall as shown

• No additional loading behind wall

(such as tiered walls, building loads, etc.)

Design standards and properties used to develop thses charts were:

• Design methodology-in general accor-

dance with NCMA Design Manual for

SRW’s

•Unit weight of soil (Y) 120 pcf

•Internal friction angle of soil

as shown on charts

•Long term design strength of

the geogrid (LTDS)

each Mosaic panel is 1.66 square feet in wall-face

area. For each panel, there is one Standard unit, two

Accent® units, and one Cobble® unit. The following

formulas and table may be used to estimate quantities

of units required for a Mosaic® retaining wall project.

Estimating Chart

44 © CST 4/11

These tables are provided for estimating purposes only. They should

not be used or relied upon for any application without verification of

accuracy, suitability, and applicability for the use contemplated, which is

the sole responsibility of the user. A final, project specific design should be

prepared by a qualified, licensed, professional Civil Engineer (P.E.) based

on actual site conditions. Preparation of these tables did not include

consideration or analysis of global slope stability or allowable bearing

capacity of foundation soils. These must be reviewed for each project by a

qualified Geotechnical Engineer.

There are three tables provided in this guide to help estimate geogrid for

different wall loading situations--level backfill, sloping backfill, and

surcharges. To estimate geogrid quantities, first look under the columnappropriate for the project soils, determine the height (H) of the proposed

wall and read across for the row (under appropriate soil column) to

approximate geogrid type, number of layers, and lengths of each layer.

These design charts assume the following conditions:

• Uniform soil conditions

• Stable foundation soils

• Level grade in front of the wall

• No groundwater/water loads

• Slopes and loads behind

the wall as shown

• No additional loading behind wall

(such as tiered walls, building loads, etc.)

Design standards and properties used to develop thses charts were:

• Design methodology-in general accor-

dance with NCMA Design Manual for

SRW’s

•Unit weight of soil (Y) 120 pcf

•Internal friction angle of soil

as shown on charts

•Long term design strength of

the geogrid (LTDS)

• Versa-Grid® VG 3.0- 1250 lbs/ft

• Versa-Grid® VG 5.0-1875 lbs/ft

Ø

Geogrids with similar LTDS and connection strengths to VeRSA-LoK® units can be estimated using these charts. With some

variations, the Versa-Grid VG 3.0 charts also generally estimate quantities for Miragrid 3XT, Stratagrid 300, and Raugrid 4/2.

The charts for VeRSA-Grid VG 5.0 generally estimate quantities for Miragrid 5XT, Stratagrid 500 and Raugrid 6/3.

Design Options Using

VERSA-LOK® Mosaic Units

Attractive, durable retaining walls can be constructed using only VeRSA-Lok® Cobble

or VeRSA-LoK® Accent units. These units offer the same features and benefits as

VeRSA-LoK® Mosaic walls, including:

• Classic split-face texture

• Setback or near-vertical walls

• No mortar or concrete footings required

• Great options for tighter radius projects, such as planting areas and tree rings

Maximum height for an unreinforced VeRSA-LoK® Accent® or VeRSA-LoK® Cobble®

wall using a 3⁄4-inch setback is four feet. Maximum height for an unreinforced wall built with

a near-vertical setback is three feet. Individual site, soil, and loading conditions (including

terraces) may limit unreinforced wall heights to less than those stated. Taller walls require

soil reinforcement and engineering assistance. Please contact your local VeRSA-LoK®

representative if unsure about any site, soil, height, or local construction requirements.

Center Splitting Method

FIRST CoURSe SeCoND CoURSe

For the first 10-inch-high corner panel, install 6-inch high units in the lower portion. Split a Standard unit

to the dimensions shown (Figure A). Place the split Standard unit at the corner with a Standard unit and

a Cobble® unit at its sides (Figure A). For the corner panel’s upper portion, split an Accent® unit to the

dimensions shown (Figure B). Place the split Accent® unit at the corner with the whole Accent® units on both

sides (Figure B). Build out from this corner panel withregular Mosaic® panels to complete the entire first course.

For the second course, install a 10-inch-high corner panel that is basically a mirror image ofthe corner panel

on the first course (Figures C & D). Complete the second 10 inch-high course of panels by building Mosaic®

panels out from the corner panel. For the remaining courses, repeat the corner panel pattern started on

the first course.

FIRST CoURSe SeCoND CoURSe

For the first 10-inch-high course of a 90° inside corner, butt the left side panel into the right side panel

(Figures A & B). This hides part of the right side panel that runs “wild” past the corner. Upper and lower

portions of both panels meeting at the corner should have units of the same height. In the illustrations below,

lower units of the first-course corner panels are all 4-inches high. Modify the left side panel to fit snugly

against the setback in the right side panel face by saw cutting 3/4-inch off the lower unit (Figure A). Build

regular Mosaic® panels out from the corner panels to complete the first course.

on the second course, butt the right side panel into the left side panel and saw the lower right side unit

(Figures C & D). For remaining courses, repeat the corner panel pattern started for the first course.

FIRST CoURSe SeCoND CoURSe

When building an outside corner at steps, the side wall abutting the steps should be vertical. For the first

10-inch high corner panel, split a Standard and an Accent® unit into halves and cut off the back of the

Standard half unit as shown (Figure A). Also cut or split off the rear corner of a whole Standard unit

(Figure A). Place the half-Standard unit at the corner, with a corner-cut Standard unit and a Cobble® unit at

its side (Figure A). Above this, place the half-Accent unit at the corner, with whole Accent units at both

sides (Figure B). on the next course, install another 10-inch high corner panel similar to the first course

panel (Figures C & D). For the remaining courses, repeat the corner panel pattern started on the first course.

example

100s/f = (1)Standard = 100 pcs

(1)Cobble = 100 pcs

Take the square footage of the project and multiply by the

percentages listed below. Multiply standard bloc by 1.5

(like usual) to get quantity of standard blocks.

Multiply Cobble block x 3 (3 pcs per sq. ft.) to get quantity

of Cobble blocks.

2:1 Ratio example:

100 s/f = (2) Standard 80% = 80s/f x 1.5 = 120 pcs

(1) Cobble 20% = 20s/f x 3 = 60 pcs

3:1 Ratio example:

100 s/f = (3) Standard 85% = 85 s/f x 1.5 = 128 pcs

(1) Cobble 15% = 15 s/f x 3 = 45 pcs

4:1 Ratio example

100 s/f = (4) Standard 88% = 88s/f x 1.5 = 132 pcs

VERSA-LOK®

Installation

Overview

54 © CST 4/11

STEP 1-Leveling Pad Preparation: Versa-Lok walls should be placed on a leveling pad of

compacted gravel, crushed stone or coarse sand about 6” thick and 24” wide. The first course

of Versa-Lok should be embedded below grade approximately 1/10th of the exposed wall

height. Excavate to lines and grades you’ve established for the wall, allowing for leveling pad

and unit embedment.

STEP 2-Install Base Course: Place Versa-Lok units on prepared leveling pad. As you proceed,

level each unit-front to back, side to side and with adjacent units. Leveling is critical at this

stage, so take your time! Align straight wall sections using a string line or by sighting down

the grooves on the top of each unit. If your wall has a corner, begin at the corner and work out

from there.

STEP 3-Backfill: Fill in and compact native soil behind, and in front of, the base course level

with the grade in front of the wall. Next, place and compact 13” of drainage aggregate behind

the units.

STEP 4-Installing Successive Courses: Stack one course at a time. Set units back 3/4”. Insert

two pins in front holes of units so they fall into the rear slots of the units beneath. Tap pins

down with a pin and mallet. Place and compact drainage aggregate behind each course as it is

completed.

STEP 5-Geosynthetic Soil Reinforcement: If your wall is higher than four feet or shoulders

significant loads, you will need to install geosynthetic soil reinforcement. As each course is

laid, place soil reinforcement horizontally on top of compacted backfill and about one inch

from the front of the Versa-Lok units.

STEP 6-Installing Caps: Complete your wall by placing Versa-Lok cap units on the top course.

Install caps with a slight overhang (recommended), set back or flush with the wall face. Use

Versa-Lok concrete adhesive to secure cap units to wall.

For further information visit Versa-Lok’s website at:

www.versa-lok.com

Below is a brief

summary of Versa-Lok®

Installation steps:

Maximum height for an

unreinforced Versa-Lok wall is

four feet. Individual site, soil and

loading conditions (including ter-

races) may limit unreinforced wall

height to less than four feet.

Taller walls require geosynthetic

solid reinforcement and engineer-

ing assistance. For information on

engineered preliminary designs

please contact your local dealer or

CST representative.

Frequently Asked Wall Questions ??Why is it so difficult to get my VERSA-LOK® Pins to go into the block?

If you find the pinning to be extremely difficult, the odds are that you have installed the block upside down. The slots and pin holes have to be facing up.

What is efflorescence?Efflorescence is a whitish powder-like deposit which sometimes appears on concrete and clay products. Thedeposit is the residue of a soluble salt (inherent in concrete products) carried to the face of the product bymoisture and left on the surface as a dried white powder. Efflorescence is completely natural and will disappearwith time.

Do VERSA-LOK® walls require concrete footings below the frost line? No. Versa-Lok® walls are installed on shallow, non-rigid leveling pads consisting of well compacted gravel, crushed stone or coarse sand. The flexible nature of the walls allows them to accommodate minor earth movement without damage.

How tall can VERSA-LOK® walls be built?Generally, Versa-Lok® walls can be built to any height. The maximum unreinforced wall height varies depend-ing on site conditions, but does not exceed four feet. Taller walls require soil reinforcement designed by a qualified engineer.

What maintenance is necessary with VERSA-LOK® walls?None. Once constructed, Versa-Lok® walls provide a lifetime of virtually maintenance-free performance. Color is consistent throughout the units, so natural wear-and-tear is not apparent.
