The "Putting our Hearts into It" programme commenced in

2001 and has gained momentum during 2002. "Putting our

Hearts into It" is all about our determination to do our best, in

harmony with our colleagues, customers and partners. It isabout treating people with care and attention and getting thebest results which meet real needs. It is about making a positive

difference. "Putting our Hearts into It" has, during itssecond year of consolidation, become a cornerstone to

achieving our vision, mission and values.

Five departmental seminars on "Creating Psychic Income"were convened at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition

Centre from January to March. Over 900 colleaguesparticipated and learned how to give and get psychic

income.

Through launching the Team Recognition Award, we shared

examples of teams in action in serving the community, livingup to the TD Strategies and practising the spirit of Puttingour Hearts into It. 21 teams participated in the award

scheme held in February.

The Hearts gold pin was produced in May to provide psychic

income to colleagues. It was well received and colleaguestook pride in wearing it on important occasions.

A Psychic Income Card Design Competition was launchedin August and three award-winning entries were turned into

Psychic Income Cards. The cards were used to recogniseworthy actions of fellow colleagues.

We supported the Civil Service Volunteer Work Programmethrough participating in the Pledging Ceremony andexperience sharing session co-organised by the Civil Service

Bureau and Social Welfare Department in May. It wasfollowed by a visit to Tsing Ma Control Area for kids of the

HK Downs Syndrome Association.

TD won the Customer Service Excellence Third Award 2001-

02 organised by the Civil Service Bureau. With the

$40,000 award, "Hearts" umbrellas were produced for

every member of staff in recognition of their support.

The TD Song Competition was launched to bring out the

musical talent of our staff. The lyrics evolved around thetheme of colleagues teaming up to build the world's best

transport system. The TD Song and five other award winningentries were recorded onto a CD to raise funds to enablethe Charity Ambassador Group to carry out charitable

activities.

The TD Charity Ambassadors paid visits to the Home for the

Elderly and helped in recording books for the HK Societyfor the Blind as community services.

The Charity Funfair cum Variety Show was held on 1December as a function for colleagues and their families. It

also served to raise funds for the Community Chest andTD's Community Service.

We continued to organise visits to transport-related bodiesto enhance better understanding and teamwork amongst

divisions and transport operators.

To help colleagues have a healthy body, we continued the

Healthy Lifestyle Series through organising health-relatedprogrammes and seminars with the Hospital Authority andthe HK Eye Hospital. We also had fun "Conquering Mount

Everest together on TD's Staircases".

Apart from posters, banners, pins and stationer y, fellow

colleagues all helped to publicise the spirit of Putting ourHearts into It through enthusiastic communication.

The Hearts spirit has cascaded through all of our colleagues

as a result of their dedicated involvement. We would continueto embrace this philosophy in order to increase our psychic

income and provide an even better service.
