Algona Family Fun Days Parade RecapPhotos: John Campbell & Tiffany Dagan

Saturday, August 3rd, 2019 is now unofficially known in Algona as “PCMC on Parade Day”, as both Pacific Cascade and Pierce County Mustang Clubs teamed up for a fun community event. There were approximately 25 Mustangs from both clubs plus a couple stragglers. Pacific Cascade had 10 Mustangs! The parade was small, but the community and kids seemed to really enjoy it. Afterwards, we all parked near City Hall and the Algona Police Department and spent a couple hours enjoying the music, vendors, and fun festival in Machett Park. Thank you to John Campbell, Mark & Melody Mathews, Willi King, John Burelison, Kary Kidder, Helen Heathman, Dale Hartman and his son, Gary and Tiffany Dagan and Tom Adams for participating! Hope to do it again next year!

From Gary Klein, City of Algona Recreation

    Program Coordinator:

“I just wanted to reach back to you and your organizations

and say Thank you!! Your participation in this year’s Algona Family Fun Days certainly made

it memorable and the best one ever! You really stepped up and supported a small community

and I hope you know how much I appreciate your efforts. I cannot

thank you enough for helping and participating. It was a wonderful

day to let the Mustangs shine. Thank you and have a great

    weekend!” Gary Klein

PCMC 32nd All Ford Show & Mustang RoundupPhotos by Jay Marsh, Anita Lee, Tiffany Dagan, Helen Heathman and Gary Hallberg

By all accounts, our 32nd Annual All Ford Show & Mustang Roundup was a smashing success! We had 328+ vehicles on show day, which has to be a new record. We had 228 cars pre-registered by Wednesday before the show, so we thought with another 60 or so day of registrations like we’ve had in the past, that we might hit 300. Well, despite printing 100 copies of the registration form for the day of the show, we ended up running out because so many folks showed up. A good problem to have though!

Our new 50/50 raffle was a great success in raising money for Pediatric Interim Care Center. The winner who received half the pot generously donated her half back to PICC, so they ended up with over $850! Thank you so much to the winner who donated her portion. Her winnings will help the babies at PICC get the love and care that they deserve. PICC also collected over $200 in donations throughout the day, so they took in over $1000 in donations, thanks to everyone’s generosity!

The mobile dyno was also a welcome addition to the show this year. There seemed to be a steady stream of onlookers willing to check out those who were brave enough to test their cars!

Thanks to all the club members who stepped up and volunteered at the show this year, thank you to the Car Show Committee for their efforts in the months leading up to the show, and most importantly, to Dick and Karen Knight for their year-round work to make the show run smoothly! There is a TON of work that goes into putting on a show like this, so please thank Dick and Karen when you see them!

Meeting Minutes: August 2nd, 2019by PCMC Secretary Kristen MartinWilli King called the meeting to order at 7:00pm.

Board Members Present: Willi King, Jacob Astorga, Ken Martin, Kristen Martin, Tiffany Dagan, Gary Dagan, Larry Lee, John Burelison, Dick Knight, Margaret Peterson, Chris Johnson, Conor Lindsey. 32 Members signed in at the meeting.

The previous club meeting minutes were printed in the Pegasus newsletter. Motion to Approve the minutes was made by Gary Dagan, was seconded, and the motion was approved.

President – Willi King• Willi King reminded the membership of the Algona Mustang Parade being held on 8/3. A show of hands resulted in 9 cars planning to participate.• There was a short discussion about Showare Center being in the news, and that Showare is supported by the City of Kent. There is no expectation that we would lose the location for our future car shows.• There was a question regarding our major sponsor, Bowen Scarff Ford. Dick Knight explained the reasons why Bowen was no longer able to host the show but intended to continue as our major sponsor.

Vice President – Jacob Astorga• Jacob Astorga thanked the club for the good turn-out at the Emerald Downs Race Day Paddock Lunch. He had Car Show flyers out for passersby and John Burelison fielded lots of questions about the cars and the club.• Come by and see the shirts for sale on the Club Store table.

Treasurer’s Report – Ken Martin• Car Show expenses are coming in and have been covered by the car show receipts. The club fund is healthy.

MEMBERSHIP – Linda Hallberg• Linda Hallberg was not present, Dawn Siciliano represented the Membership table and invited our visitors to introduce themselves.• Larry & Carol Anderson, with a 1966 Red Mustang. The Showare Car Show will be their 1 year anniversary.• John & Debbi Nordin, with a 2010 Candy Red GT.• David Kirkpatrick, moved here from Southern Illinois with his 2017 Grabber Blue GT.

PEGASUS/WEBSITE - Tiffany Dagan• Tiffany Dagan reported that July has been busy! The newsletter is a picture book of our activities. Ellensburg, Bellevue, and Port Orchard where PCMC won the club participation award! We have been challenged by Pierce County Mustangs for the club participation award at Griot’s Garage. Don’t forget the Apogee show next Saturday, only $10 to enter and the food is great!

TOURS AND EVENTS - Margaret Petersen• Margaret Peterson reported that it was well worth pre-registration for the Port Orchard show, because you got to go in ahead of everyone else in line! Coming events include The Rod Run to the end of the World, including Slow Drag Racing and a Sunday Salmon brunch is on September 7-8, and Friday Sept 13 through Sunday September 15 is the Ponies in the Sun show in Yakima.

    • Margaret asked for suggestions for a Dinner Out location for September, and Jacob suggested the Renton Sonic Drive In.

CAR SHOW - Dick Knight • Dick Knight covered the many details regarding our upcoming Car Show at Showare Center, August 17. On July 31 2018 we had pre-registration for 141 cars. On July 31, 2019 we have 190 pre-registrations! The phone is ringing, and the hope is to have 300 cars or more at our show. We will need to adjust the trophies because we need more classes. Last year we walked the lot to clean it and were refunded $500, so we plan to do that again this year. The head of PICC will be at the show to speak about PICC and be present to receive the 50/50 raffle proceeds from the event. We have a last-minute addition of a Dyno coming to the show. For $75 per car you can test the actual HP. The Dyno will be set up on the NW corner of the parking lot.• August 7 will be the last Car Show Committee meeting at Dick & Karen Knight’s house.• FYI, August 6th is their 53rd Anniversary! Karen is the reason that Dick has a car collection.• Friday night 8/16 will be parking lot planning for the show and will start at 6:00 at Showare.• Show day will start at 5:00 am setting up the show, and it will be great.

MCA/TECH - Chris Johnson • Chris Johnson reported that there is nothing currently planned for Tech, but the car show is filling the spare time.• Friday night August 16 the Car Show setup starts at 6:00 pm. Teams will mark the lot for the cars.• The Last MCA show of the year was in Virginia. Wayne Hill and Al Dyer each received Gold Medals!• Chris apologized to the entire club that the papers for the MCA President’s award were not turned in by the deadline. (Willi said Chris could go stand in the corner. )• The MCA Board Meeting will be held in Vegas October 11-13th.Old Business - There was no Old Business

New Business: There was no additional club business presented.

RAFFLE: Mark Palmore directed the monthly Raffle – Door prizes were amazing! PCMC Out & AboutPhotos by Anita Lee and Tiffany Dagan

Apogee Pub & Eatery Car Show on August 10thThe Apogee Show was a victim of the unpredictable Northwest weather this year with lots of rain in the morning. A few of us

headed there later in the day once the rain stopped. There were about 60 cars total. We still had a decent turnout for lunch, with 10 members including the Dagans, Aprills, Lees, Frillicis, and Gary Hallberg. Hoping for better weather next year!

Cruisin’ Kent Car Show at Kent Station on August 4thThe Cruisin’ Kent Show was well attended, with nearly 20 PCMC cars in attendance. Several of us met at the Fairwood Starbucks

and caravanned over to Kent Station. The day was hot, so we spent most of the time trying to stay cool by having lunch at The Ram and then seeing how many chairs we could cram under the shade of John Burelison’s tent! Thanks for the shade, John!

Pierce County Mustang Club’s All Ford & Mustang Show at Griot’s GarageDespite some drizzle in the morning, we headed to Griot’s Garage for Pierce County Mustangs annual show. It was another fun

day with club members and an exciting one too, since it was the first time Mark Palmore’s 1966 coupe had been to a show in about 30 years! If you haven’t seen his car yet, it is a beauty, and best of all, it’s all original too! While the rain drops threatened us

once, the convertible top remained down all day and the weather finally cleared enough for some sun in the afternoon. Congrats to the day’s winners, including Jay Jay Blodgett who not only placed in her class, but also took home Best Graphics!

About Pacific Cascade Mustang ClubBased in Kent, Washington, Pacific Cascade Mustang Club is the only original Mustang club in the Puget Sound area, and the oldest Mustang club in the nation. We are a group of Mustang and Ford enthusiasts who are dedicated to the enjoyment and preservation of Mustangs young, old and in between.

Membership MeetingsMeetings are held the first Friday of every month at 7:30pm at Bowen Scarff Ford in Kent (1157 Central Avenue North).

Community SupportPacific Cascade Mustang Club has donated tens of thousands of dollars over the years to support local charities through our activities, events and annual car show. We have supported Pediatric Interim Care Center in Kent, Northwest Harvest, Kent Firefighters Toys for Joy Drive, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, among others.

Annual Car ShowPCMC and Bowen Scarff Ford in Kent host our annual All Ford Show and Mustang Roundup in August. The show is open to all Ford, Lincoln and Mercury-powered vehicles.

Tours and EventsPCMC takes part in numerous events including garage tours, recreational outings, car show caravans, tech sessions and a monthly dinner night out. Dinner night out takes place on the 13th of every month. If the 13th falls on a weekend, we try to organize a local trip or tour for the day.

Tech SessionsThe club hosts various tech sessions for members to learn more about restoring, repairing and maintaining their Mustangs. Tech sessions are typically held on an as-needed basis and have included topics like cleaning and detailing, front-end suspension, electrical, wiring, brakes and differentials.
