services company to achieve DIN ISO 9001:2008
certification.
We ask ourselves this question daily,
and we try to answer anew every
day that, yes, quality is measurable!
Whenever my grandfather was asked
whether he found dinner to his liking,
his standard response was: “If I don’t
say anything, that means I like it!”
Such an approach, however, isn’t good
enough to help us evaluate the quality
of our services. For this reason, mt-g
has installed a new, integrated quality
management system. You’ll learn more
about it in a double interview with
Tim Gürtler, Senior Sales Manager at
ConSense GmbH, and Samuel Aubin,
Head of Quality Management at mt-g.
Our aspiration to produce the best
possible quality drives us to take an
active role in shaping the discussion on
quality-related topics and tools. mt-g
is therefore pleased to be hosting the
first meeting of the members of the
American Society for Quality (ASQ)
residing in Germany. May we take this
opportunity to say “Welcome to Ulm!”
Without our highly qualified staff,
we would be unable to offer such
measurably high-quality translations
for the medical and pharmaceutical
industries. In the current issue, we
introduce five new, dedicated staff
members who have chosen mt-g and
our quality standards. I am proud to
have them aboard.
I hope you enjoy reading the 33rd
edition of the Package Insert.

Continually increasing staff numbers,
newly formed technical teams and ever
more complex translation projects –
until recently, the administration
and documentation of the workflow
and process landscape filled several
metres of file shelves. The desire
for an up-to-date, efficient solution
as well as increasing customer
requirements of QM systems have set
in motion a complete restructuring
of mt-g’s quality management. With
ConSense IMS software for process
and quality management, mt-g has
successfully made the leap from basic
document management to continuous
improvement.
In a double interview, Tim Gürtler,
Senior Sales Manager at ConSense
GmbH, and Samuel Aubin, Head of
Quality Management at mt-g, speak
about the advantages of the new,
integrated quality management system
for mt-g.
PI: Why did mt-g need a new
QM system?
Samuel Aubin: The administrative
burden simply became too great – more
processes, more work instructions,
more checklists, more forms, more
training, etc. There was no end to
keeping on top of all this documentation.
We recognised the danger of spending
more time on signatures and footers
than on genuine processes and
suggestions for improvement.
Tim Gürtler: This is exactly where
ConSense comes in. Management
system maintenance becomes vastly
simpler, which will allow mt-g to focus
on content and less on the administrative
aspects in the future. The creation of
new processes and the changing of
existing processes and documents
occur completely within the system. If
there is anything new, every employee
is automatically informed.
PI: How have staff members taken
to the new quality management
system?
Tim Gürtler: The key to acceptance
is a high level of user-friendliness. The
system compiles all the documents that
are relevant for each workstation
individually and in this way offers direct
access to all the information needed for
daily work. Finding the right information
is made much easier.
Samuel Aubin: ConSense is
especially popular with our new
employees. Many questions about
recurring processes are already fully
addressed. Even our longer-standing
staff members are appearing in my
office with increasing rarity. Instead
they actively share ideas about the
QM system – directly through the
system of course.
PI: Mr Aubin, how has your work
changed due to ConSense?
Samuel Aubin: QM document
control happens almost all by itself: All
approvals are in the system,
acknowledgements are documented
seamlessly, specifications in circulation
are up to date and valid without
exception, the tedium of manually
amending version numbers is a thing of
the past, and much more. As a quality
manager, I am finally able to concentrate
on key quality figures and optimisation
steps instead of formalities.

PI: Mr Gürtler, what additional
advantages do you see specifically
for mt-g?
Tim Gürtler: mt-g coordinates
the work of over 60 employees. It is
necessary to document and continually
develop both technical and professional
qualifications. The ConSense qualifi-
cation management module is an
enormous help here. Moreover, the
software makes employee qualifications
transparent and shows up gaps in
qualifications through a special matrix.
PI: At the end of the day,
there is always the question:
How do customers benefit from
the introduction of the new quality
management system?
Tim Gürtler: ConSense helps mt-g
to fully satisfy all customer and supplier
requirements and to comply with
relevant standards and laws.
Samuel Aubin: The first customer
audits after the introduction of
ConSense went extremely well. All the
auditors immediately recognised that
all the documentation was profession-
ally managed. The qualifi cation of
suppliers and translators is appreciably
simplified. Also, a functioning QM
system naturally has a positive effect
on the quality of our services.
ConSense GmbH assists companies with
all aspects of management systems. With
the IMS, QMS and PMS software products,
ConSense covers the full spectrum of mod-
ern CAQ solutions for process and quality
management: from quality planning and
quality inspection to quality assurance.

On 16 October 2014, mt-g will host
the first meeting of the members
of the American Society for Quality
(ASQ) residing in Germany. ASQ is
the American counterpart of the
Deutsche Gesellschaft für Qualität
(Germany Society for Quality) and has
an extensive international network.
The members from Germany are now
meeting in Ulm for the first time.
One of these members is Samuel
Aubin, Head of Quality Management at
mt-g and holder of the title ASQ
Certified Six Sigma Green Belt – ASQ
CSSGB for short. He brought the
inaugural event to mt-g. “As an ASQ
member, I naturally brought up the
subject in the company, and the
management kindly offered to make
our conference rooms available”, says
Samuel Aubin.
Participants will enjoy a pre-
meeting social event at Zur Lochmühle
restaurant in Ulm the evening before
the programme of specialist lectures
and discussions starts on 16 October
2014. The schedule includes quality-
related topics and tools from Six Sigma
to lean and problem-solving methods.
Samuel Aubin will gladly send you
further information on the first ASQ
Germany Semi-Annual Meeting on
request. Contact: [email protected]

The company outing is a fixed event
on mt-g’s annual calendar. The pro-
cedure is familiar, but not the des-
tination: Managing Directors Gerlinde
and Andreas Bendig provide a budget,
and an organising team of volunteers
takes over the planning. The details of
the trip remain strictly secret until the
last minute.
On Friday, 4 July 2014, the organising
team sent the entire mt-g troop off on a
wobbly and not always dry adventure. All
the employees put their mettle to the test
on a canoe trip on the Iller and the
Danube from Senden to Neu-Ulm. The
day ended with a big open-air grill and
dance party that included a big screen for
football fans. The German national foot-
ball team’s 1:0 victory over France in the
World Cup quarterfinal rounded off a
company outing that had been success-
ful on all counts.

The aim of kakuro is to fill in the empty fields using the numbers 1 to 9. These
numbers can only be used once in each row or column. The sum of each row or
column should total that of the clues provided in the grey squares. The grey square
containing the clue is divided diagonally into two parts. The number in the top
half of the square is the clue for the row, and the number in the bottom half of the
square refers to the column.
The aim of sudoku is to complete the grid so that each row, column or block of
9 squares contains the numbers 1 to 9, which can only be used once in each case.
The sum of the numbers already placed in the fields is the clue to the solution.

The issue of data security is of the utmost
importance at mt-g. Consequently,
customer and translator data will be
even better protected in the future. The
Dell SonicWALL NSA 2600 UTM firewall
has been managing and monitoring
digital data transfer via e-mail, Internet
and VPN between customers and mt-g
since 2014. With the hardware firewall,
data exchange is becoming even more
secure: viruses, Trojans, malware and
direct attackers can be efficiently and
effectively repelled with the redundant
security concept.
“Data security is an enormously high
priority for our customers and for us.
For this reason, our security system is
always state-of-the-art”, stresses Bernd
Mayer, member of management.
