Page 1: Package of films analysis

This poster shows:• All the main actors that are involved in the film are on the poster• An important part of a scene that is shown in the film• The typographical feature includes the main title in red suggesting

danger and violence• The whole city is on its side as well as straight on to create an illusion

of being unstable and things are changing for the worse or even for the better

Similarities for poster + magazine = uses same colour tone blue, the writing is still the same text format and linking to this the background of the poster is the same but the title of the magazine has been blended into the background

The Magazine shows:• Only one main character on the front of

the magazine often a well known actor, the film maker has added this in to get more popularity for the film

• A prop is used on the front cover and gives connotations about this man being armed for every occasion, showing that he is the one to look out for

• Linking to the front cover the text used “the 27 most mind-blowing movies ever” shows that it is trying t0 get more people to watch it

The trailer shows:• Dark text is used for the name inception and the format of

the text is the same but not the colour of the main title• Mostly aimed at all the action that takes place, especially the

water slanting showing something un-expecting is happening and is effecting everyone

• The opening with the different film companies the film is in connection with shows a simple connection towards that film

Similarities for magazine + trailer = Features seen from the whole city changing its shape maybe a key part of the film that links to the plot and In both of the package for a film the main character wears posh clothes showing that he has a lot of money as well

Similarities of all = We again see all the main characters in the trailer to help make it more popular with the watching audiences for example: Leonardo DiCaprio, colour scheme = blue and dark colours like black and grey

From looking at both these advertisements for the film trailer + poster they both show an establishing shot of it being set in the city and the two main characters that are featured are in the middle of the poster and are also seen in the trailer, the light in the posters draws the audience to these key figures

Page 2: Package of films analysis

This poster shows:• The colour blue is seen to be used throughout

this poster to show animal like features and the key person has two different identities so he can blend into the new environment

• The writing creates a Sci-fi edge to the whole magazine

• The background shows that they are in the wild and there is a whole world waiting for this person to go and visit

• Key character who is one of the animals this person may meet?

The Magazine shows:• Sci-fi animalistic theme of the magazine by

using titling like “wild things!”, this helps give continuity of the different issues that will be seen inside of the magazine but the creator tries to link to the front cover

• Eye colour = animal like but has human like features with the body but it is blue, showing that this creature blends in with its surroundings and also can be a mystery as well and doesn’t want to be noticed

This trailer shows:• New creatures are evident in this trailer from the CGI created by the editor

and made up by the director to create a Sci-fi effect that is different to many other movies

• This trailer also provides a clue towards it being set in the future due to the fact that the technology is so high tech and people can be connected inside of other creatures

• Military machinery and weapons are used to suggest connotations of this new world being a war against these beings as they have something that the humans need

Similarities of Poster + magazine = animal like features are shown from both advertisements and the colour blue is shown too that gives it a sci-fi feeling from how this creature looks.

Similarities between trailer + poster= a new species is shown throughout, the colour scheme blue to represent a sci-fi nature. Also they both show that the main character is trying to connect and interact with these creatures

Similarities between magazine + trailer = they are both showing a sci-fi connection and the creatures are shown as unique and worth knowing more about as no one has ever seen them ever before. Maybe linking with the idea that the magazine has the human as the creature instead giving a link towards what might happen in the overall movie

They all have the same colour scheme and use many special effects to show the main character/species. The title Avatar is made up too and keeps the audience guessing towards what it might actually be because this word hasn’t been heard of before.

Page 3: Package of films analysis

This poster shows:• A two main characters who are seen on the left and the

right, suggest that they are the well known Doctors that are seen throughout the years of Doctor Who, the size of these two characters on the poster shows that they are key to the plot of the whole film

• Plus using orange with the man boldly walking through in the middle shows that he has done something terrible suggesting fire, chaos and destruction of somewhere that he wants to look away from

• The well known titling immediately shows the fans that Doctor Who have made a new episode

• The background is black and grey suggesting that there is not hope but the colour white is used too and this can suggests that there is light at the end of the tunnel

The magazine shows:• The three Doctors are seen in this

magazine, the official Doctor at the moment is in the middle it is Matt Smith and that is why he is seen on this magazine as the icon of this episode because it is him and all the past Doctors that have come to help him save people from aliens

• The font is the same as the background using the colour scheme grey and white

• “The Day of the Doctor!” is used showing an exclamatory sentence towards making fans think towards why the writer might of done it like this, and is this episode just to do with The Doctors past life and where he comes from?

The trailer shows:• Shows a few of the main actors in the trailer including David

Tennant, Matt Smith, John Hurt, Billie Piper and Jenna Coleman

• Sci-fi features used throughout with the colour scheme specific to the show, from the look of the TARDIS and the Daleks

• The Doctors are seen in sync when they are sat down and crossing their legs, this suggests that they are the same person

Similarities between poster + trailer = the poster links in nicely with what goes off in the trailer, plus the two Doctors that are taller than the middle character are there to help him go through the pain of war. Between the Daleks and Gallifrey, their home

Similarities between magazine + trailer = main characters are introduced on both but mostly The Doctor as he makes Doctor Who the best it can be. The narrative in the trailer links to the title that is used in the magazine “The Day of The Doctor!” showing that everything depends on him and no one else.

Similarities between poster + magazine = the three main characters are seen in both the poster and magazine and the black, grey and white colour scheme is used too

From looking at all of the advertisements for the package of the film they all show features of the main character and the trailer uses sneak peaks to make the fans excited. As people know these characters it gives more publicity for the show
