The Midland Grand Hotel, now the home of the St. Pancras
Renaissance Hotel was conceived as an iconic place of luxury for
travellers coming to London from the north. The Midland Grand
Hotel took five years to construct and involved the skills of numerous
builders, stonemasons, artists, craftsmen, and tradesmen. During
this period nine stonemasons were employed to carve the legion of
capitals, headstops and gargoyles that decorated the building inside
and out. In the Dining and Coffee Room (now The Gilbert Scott
Restaurant), pillars of polished limestone lined the walls, their golded
capitals carved with conkers, pea pods and bursting pomegranates.
In homage to our great building this wedding package includes

The Victorian symbol of wealth and elegance, peacocks have played
a part in decorating the hotel from the very beginning. The peacock
is a possessor of some of the most admired human characteristics,
and is a symbol of integrity and the beauty we can achieve when we
endeavour to show our true colours. In history, myth, legend and
lore, the peacock symbolism carries portents of: Nobility, Holiness,
