1. Proposals and election of new Vice Chairman

Stefan Schulz, IDT has been elected to be the Vice Chairman.

2. Compression Packing Guidelines / Ralf Vogel

Guideline is finished. Confirmation has to be done by FSA. FSA will send a Hyperlink to take a look at. Feedback needed in between one month. Mark should put the Guideline on to the ESA website as soon as confirmed.

3. Pump Packing Friction Study and Valve Characterisation Project / Ralf Vogel Presentation done by Ralf. Theere will be a presentation of this document at Valve Wolrd end of November 2018 and during the Sealconf in Poland in Week 21/2018. Calculation spread sheet is not that user friendly. There has to be some work done . Different leakage and friction results depending on the installation. Update needed from Hubert.

4. ESA Packings Standard Draft 4 (replacing BS 4371) / David Edwin Scott Packing standard Task force meeting in March. Last Draft 4a was done by David. There have been some materials added. Most required are test methods for all of this materials and qualities. Input needed by all of the ESA PD members! Phil has sent a list with possible test methods and standards based on graphite. There will be another draft sent out by David in the next view weeks. There are still some changes left from the TTF meeting.

5. Packings Training Presentation) / David Edwin Scott Presentation base on power point. Definition and Uses Section is done. How packing works, Materials and lubricants Section is done. Installation and Adjustments is not yet completed. Total size is currently 120MB. If you want to see the training with the current technology, you will have to download the whole document. With the new, upcoming homepage, we may be able to offer that document much easier. By the autumn meeting the training should be completed! Packing failures chapter will be done later. !!!WE NEED MORE PICTURES!!! Please send all of your material related pictures. There has been a document circulated by Ralf, which pictures are needed. Fibers and Packing pictures are mostly needed. We will circulate the document again!!!

6. Magazine Articles / David Edwin Scott We have been allowed to use Articles done by the FSA. There was some modification needed (EU Standards). David took a sealing sense article to get things done by ESA. There are some sealing sense articles which can be easily to be modified by an ESA member. A list will be circulated with the minutes. Volunteers needed!! Hans Dekker volunteered to write an article. Martin Coulthard has agreed on an article. Ralf Vogel will also do an article. Simone Wilson will go through an article as well.

7. PED – Pressure Equipment Directive Update / David Mitchell Currently there is an issue on CE marking on MS. Next update may be 2019/2020/2024 there have been several dates named by the our sources. As long as we are not aware of what will be changed in the PED we will not be able to react on the changes

8. Standards and Legislation Update / David Mitchell Packings will not be on the new tariffs list for the US. There are currently 4 different regulations on drinking water. Major information is available in the presentation of David Mitchell. Sandy will join for Brussels meetings. David will circulate the consolidate document.

9. Any other business / All Valve World Düsseldorf is coming in November, there is some contribution needed on the presentation from the FSA. Phil Mahoney will forward the contact details. TA Luft update by Thomas Schaaf. On Packing material there is one big change. No longer TA-Luft test needed on compression packing. Now the Valve has to be tested. Packing division was always good at fundamental research. We should find some new topics to keep the high level of the PD in the future. We may can get some more feedback from the members based on the different ways to install Packings in Valves. This will be related to the Pump friction topic. Alberto Rocca is looking for a summary of what the PD has done in the last time. Simply to understand for all of the people in the Industry. This can create more awareness to the people. Summery will be done by David Edwin Scott and Manuel Seyrl.
