AVP Valente C. Custodio, Sir Val or Boss Val as he is known in the Corporate Offices, is one of the most accommodating and friendliest senior officers in PAGCOR. His low-key demeanor belies scores of outstanding academic and professional accomplishments which culminated in his appointment to the highest position in the Internal Audit Department (IAD).

Boss Val is a Certified Public Accountant and a bona fide member of the prestigious Institute of Internal Auditors the global accrediting body of internal auditors. He is also an MBA degree holder.

Perseverance and acumen enabled AVP Custodio to rise from bookkeeper to Assistant Vice President at one of the most important departments in PAGCOR.

His enlightened approach to auditing has brought new meaning and purpose to the department. Not only is IAD the vanguard for fiscal control, it is now the primary mover towards risk management and governance. Whereas before, Internal Audit was regarded only as a watchdog, currently it is considered as a guiding light in the smooth and efficient operations of the company.

Carmencita T. Abrigo-Espinosa, AVP of the Quality Control Unit (QCU) of PAGCOR, is tasked with the crucial role of ensuring that the operations and administrative standards set by PAGCOR are being met in all its casinos and other affiliated businesses.

She joined PAGCOR in 2001 after moving from Masbate where she supported the political career of her husband Mario Katigbak-Espinosa. Now based in Manila, Mario is a successful entrepreneur engaged in the agriculture business. Carmen meanwhile balances her time between working at PAGCOR and taking care of her husband and son Kristoffer, now 27 years old. In their spare time, the family enjoys bonding moments through traveling, shopping, watching movies, and taking care of five dogs at their current residence in BF Homes Paraaque.

After serving as Head of the Procurement and Property Department (PPD), Carmen was assigned as Head of the Health Services Department (HSD) despite not having any background in the medical profession. Relying on her natural leadership and organizational skills, she was able to implement significant improvements in the department.

She has been the head of the QCU since its inception in 2005. But for Carmen, her greatest achievement is her people. She excitedly looks forward to every working day with her staff composed of 12 vibrant individuals.

For Carmen, all her accomplishments will not be possible if not for the people that she works with. This is very much reflected in her motto: The head will never be successful if he/she does not have the full cooperation of the people in the department.
