VS IP 66 TEST ON ML19 PANEL MOUNT MONITOR, WL19 UNIVERSAL MOUNT
MONITOR, AND ENCL-TC THIN CLIENT ENCLOSURE
Dear Mr. Jeff Waddle,
Per your request, project 13CA13954 was opened, in accordance with your requested test protocol for the evaluation of the ML19 Panel Mount Monitor, WL19 Universal Mount Monitor, and ENCL-TC Thin Client Enclosure devices. Your requested test protocol for this project was to determine compliance with the IP66 rating per IEC 60529 Degrees of Protection Required by Enclosures, Edition 2.1, dated 2001-02-01. The test results apply only to the actual samples tested. A copy of the test data has been included as an Appendix A to this report.
UL Verification Services did not select the samples, determine whether the samples were representative of production samples, witness the production of the test samples, nor were we provided with information relative to the formulation or identification of component materials used in the test samples. The test results apply only to the actual samples tested. The issuance of this report in no way implies Listing, Classification or Recognition by UL LLC and does not authorize the use of UL Listing, Classification or Recognition Marks or any other reference to UL LLC. on the product or system. APPENDIX A
DUST TEST FOR ENCLOSURE DESIGNATION IP6X: For ML19 PANEL
MOUNT MONITOR
WITH TEST
ENCLOSURE (3"
BY 17" BY 21")Lab2
Clause 13.4 of IEC 60529, Edition 2.1 + Corr. 1:2003 + Corr. 2:2007 + Corr. 3:2009
METHOD
All samples were each mounted and supported in the worst case intended mounting position in a closed dust
chamber which maintained talcum powder in suspension. The effective volume of the test chamber was
2.33m3, sufficient to allow uniform distribution of the dust.
The sample under test was connected to a vacuum pump to maintain the pressure below atmospheric pressure.
The connection was made using the mounted dust fitting provided by the customer .
The sample under test was exposed to the talcum powder atmosphere until there were at least 80 volume
changes where the maximum flow rate was 60 volume changes per hour, the maximum vacuum was 20 mbar
and the test duration was 2 hours minimum, 8 hours maximum. See the table under "RESULTS" for actual test
conditions.
The talcum powder used passed through a square meshed sieve having a nominal wire diameter of
0.050 mm and a nominal width between wires of 0.075 mm. The amount of talcum powder installed in the test
chamber was 2kg/m3 of test chamber volume.
Ambient Shall be 15°C to 35°C
Humidity Shall be 25% to 75%
Barometric Pressure Shall be 86 mbar to 106 kPa (645 mmHg to 795 mmHg)
[x] If box checked by engineering, connect device(s) to vacuum pump and adjust vacuum to 20 mbar maximum
until flow meter indicates no more than 60 volume changes per hour. The volume changes per hour are
determined by dividing the enclosure volume into the flow rate. The test duration is (1) two hours if the volume
changes per hour is 40 - 60 or (2) if the vacuum is 20 mbar and the volume changes per hour is less than 40,
eight hours or until 80 volume changes have occurred, whichever is less.
Note: Devices intended for panel mounting are to be installed in an enclosure having at least the same IP rating,
connected to the vacuum pump and exposed for eight hours.

Clause 14.2.6 OF IEC 60529, Edition 2.1 + Corr. 1:2003 + Corr. 2:2007 + Corr. 3:2009
METHOD
A sample of the ML19 Panel Mount Monitor was installed into the opening of an enclosure. The
complete installation of the ML19 Panel Mount Monitor into the opening of an enclosure was provided by the
customer. The enclosure was placed in its normal upright mounting position. The unit was subjected to a
stream of water from a test nozzle as shown below (Reference Fig. 6 of EN 60529) having a 12.5 mm internal
diameter, delivering 100 liters of water per minute ± 5 percent with water pressure at the nozzle adjusted to
achieve the specified delivery rate. The core of the substantial stream of water measured approximately 120
mm in diameter at 2.5 m distance from the nozzle. The distance from nozzle to the tested enclosure surface was
between 2.5 and 3 meters. The test duration per square meter of the enclosure surface area to be sprayed was 1
minute with a minimum total test duration of 3 minutes. The temperature of the water did not differ by more
than 5°K from the temperature of the test specimen.
The enclosure under test was not provided with any internal parts.
