He was preceded in death by his father, MSG (Retired) Orlando James Amos. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty Amos, Radcliff; three children, Terry Henning of Ver- mont, Eddie Amos, Vine Grove, Michael (Deanna) Amos, Louisville, Ky.; nine grandchildren, Rachel, Lindsey, Alex, Alyssa, Josh, Sydney, Terry, Gunner and Behr; two great- grandchildren, Sammy and ea; his mother, Ernestine Amos,Vine Grove; one brother, Keith (Lemoine) Amos of Florida; one aunt, Wanda Jackson, Glasgow, Ky.; and a host of family and friends. He was a member of Valley View Baptist Church, Vine Grove, Ky., where he served as a deacon. He was retired from the United States Army and also retired from the US Postal Service, Vine Grove. Funeral services were held July 11 at the Valley View Baptist Church, Vine Grove. Burial followed in the North Hardin Memorial Gardens, Radcliff with the United States Army rendering military honors. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Ray Howard; two sons, Paul Galen (Kelsey) Howard, Brandenburg, Ky. and Jonathan Dean Howard, Flaherty; a grandchild, Jaxsen Howard and another on the way; his father, Jesse Paul (Tami) Howard I, Louisville; his mother, Bonita (Nick) Samples, West View, Ky.; two brothers, Eugene (Hope) Howard, Pekin, Ind. and Robert (Candice) How- ard, Springfield, Ky.; two stepbrothers, Brandon Pace and Tyler Pace, Louisville; father and mother-in-law John and Marie Ray, Union Star, Ky. He was a member of St. Martins Church. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and working on cars. He was the past President of Meade County Marching Band Boosters and a founder of Meade County Cross Country Booster Club. He was employed by Morell Construction. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Brigitte Reyes, Vine Grove; a step-son, Mark Strahle; a step-dad; and siblings in Idaho. SGT (Retired) Reyes was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he was awarded two Bronze Stars, and a Purple Heart. He was the owner of the Schnitzel Barn, Vine Grove and the Schnitzel Haus, Elizabethtown, Ky. WILLIAM C. “BILL” SHELMAN William C. “Bill” Shelman, 75, of Brooks, Ky. died July 8, 2015. He was born in Breckinridge County on Feb. 18, 1940. He is preceded in death by, his daugh- ter, Pamela Marie Shelman; and brother Larry Shelman. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Irma Jean “Jeanie” Shelman; chil- dren, Rick Shelman (Alice), Debbie Farmer (Mike) and Susan King; grandchildren, Jeff Shelman, Tami Burden, Tina Miller, Brianna and Marrisa King; great grandchil- dren, Jasmine and Jayden Shelman, Levi Miller and Elijah Burden; siblings, Penny Ranneberger (Bill), Carol Kerns, Terry Shelman (Rita), Gene Shelman, Lynn Shelman (Linda), Gary Shelman (Judy), John Shelman (Jane), Stan Shelman and Chuck Shelman (Becky) and a host of other family and friends. He married Irma Jean Heavrin in 1960 at St. Aloysius Church (Shepherdsville) and they made their home in nearby Brooks. He retired from G.E. Appliance Park after 34 years of service as a Data System Specialist and he held several supervisor positions. He restored classic cars and loved landscaping. WILLIE TITUS Willie Titus, 73, Elizabethtown, Ky, died July 4, 2015 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky. He is survived by his wife, Valerie Titus, Elizabethtown; four daughters, Portia Titus, Detroit, Mich., Cara (Lenard) Everett, Ashburn, Va., Rebecca Titus, Nuremberg, Ger- many and TaNisha Williams, Elizabethtown; one son, Sean (Jyl) Williams, Rockledge, Fla.; six grandchildren; several sisters, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. SSG Titus was a U. S. Army veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and New Hope Mis- sionary Baptist Church. He was a fellow worker with Paul. e reason I brought him up is because I hear people say, “If I could have lived when Paul did and worked with him, or if I could have seen Jesus and his miracles, it would be a lot easier to have faith.” And yet, there were many people who knew Jesus and Paul and never believed in what they said. In the case of Demas, he started out with Paul and was mentioned as being alongside Paul. But when Paul was near the end of his life, he writes to Timothy that “Demas has deserted me because he loves the things of this life and has gone…” It’s not enough just to be around a strong Christian Minister’s Corner and think that will bring you salvation, rather you must make a personal commit- ment, one that changes your thinking for good and means you will be a follower of Jesus for the rest of your life. Jesus once told a story about four different reactions to hearing the gospel message. Some people heard the message and it went in one ear and out the other. Another group heard the message and got really excited about it, but it didn’t last, for when they met up with hardships or persecu- tion, they leſt pretty quickly. Another group heard the message but became so involved in the worries of everyday life and making a lot of money, that they forgot all about the message. Only one group became followers, those who heard the message and understood it and began to live it. e danger for us is to be like Demas, perhaps interested in being a Chris- tian but not willing to really live the life. SGT (Retired) Reyes was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he was awarded two Bronze Stars, and a Purple Heart. He was the owner of the Schnitzel Barn, Vine Grove and the Schnitzel Haus, Elizabethtown, Ky.

Funeral services will be on July 16 at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Coffey & Chism Funeral Home, Vine Grove, with Rev. Daniel Lincoln officiating. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.

Visitation will be at Coffey & Chism Funeral Home July 15 from 5-7 p.m. and July 16 at 9:30 a.m.

WIllIaM c. “BIll” shelMan

William C. “Bill” Shelman, 75, of Brooks, Ky. died July 8, 2015.

He was born in Breckinridge County on Feb. 18, 1940.

He is preceded in death by, his daugh-ter, Pamela Marie Shelman; and brother Larry Shelman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Irma Jean “Jeanie” Shelman; chil-

dren, Rick Shelman (Alice), Debbie Farmer (Mike) and Susan King; grandchildren, Jeff Shelman, Tami Burden, Tina Miller, Brianna and Marrisa King; great grandchil-dren, Jasmine and Jayden Shelman, Levi Miller and Elijah Burden; siblings, Penny Ranneberger (Bill), Carol Kerns, Terry Shelman (Rita), Gene Shelman, Lynn Shelman (Linda), Gary Shelman (Judy), John Shelman (Jane), Stan Shelman and Chuck Shelman (Becky) and a host of other family and friends.

He was the second of 11 children born to the late Chester and Josephine (Flaherty) Shelman. He was a member of Blessed Teresa Catholic Church (Fairdale) and he attended Cross Roads School. He married Irma Jean Heavrin in 1960 at St. Aloysius Church (Shepherdsville) and they made their home in nearby Brooks. He retired from G.E. Appliance Park after 34 years of service as a Data System Specialist and he held several supervisor positions. He restored classic cars and loved landscaping.

Mass of Christian Burial was held July 13, at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta.

WIllIe tItus

Willie Titus, 73, Elizabethtown, Ky, died July 4, 2015 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie Titus, Elizabethtown; four daughters, Portia Titus, Detroit, Mich., Cara (Lenard) Everett, Ashburn, Va., Rebecca Titus, Nuremberg, Ger-many and TaNisha Williams, Elizabethtown; one son, Sean (Jyl) Williams, Rockledge, Fla.; six grandchildren; several sisters, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

SSG Titus was a U. S. Army veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and New Hope Mis-sionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held July 13 at New Hope Mis-sionary Baptist Church in Radcliff, Ky. Burial was in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff with military honors.

Have you heard of a man named Demas in the Bible? He was a fellow worker with Paul. The reason I brought him up is because I hear people say, “If I could have lived when Paul did and worked with him, or if I could have seen Jesus and his miracles, it would be a lot easier to have faith.”

And yet, there were many people who knew Jesus and Paul and never believed in what they said. In the case of Demas, he started out with Paul and was mentioned as being alongside Paul. But when Paul was near the end of his life, he writes to Timothy that “Demas has deserted me because he loves the things of this life and has gone…”

It’s not enough just to be around a strong Christian

Minister’s Corner and think that will bring you salvation, rather you must make a personal commit-ment, one that changes your thinking for good and means you will be a follower of Jesus for the rest of your life. Jesus once told a story about four different reactions to hearing the gospel message. Some people heard the message and it went in one ear and out the other.

Another group heard the message and got really excited about it, but it didn’t last, for when they met up with hardships or persecu-tion, they left pretty quickly. Another group heard the message but became so involved in the worries of everyday life and making a lot of money, that they forgot all about the message. Only one group became followers, those who heard the message and understood it and began to live it. The danger for us is to be like Demas, perhaps interested in being a Chris-tian but not willing to really live the life.
