Investments For Your Retirement FutureTwo of the best long-term programs for your retirement may
be an Employer Sponsored Plan such as a 401 K and deductibleIRAs. Both offer tax-savings today and tax-deferred growth untilretirement. In both cases, taxes are paid only when funds are with-drawn. However, withdrawing before age 59 1/2 may subject youto a 10% penalty tax. Employer-sponsored plans may also haverestrictions on withdrawals.
Employer-Sponsored Plans-Many employers offer a varietyof investment choices including mutual funds and fixed-interest se-curities. Your employer may also deduct your pre-tax contribu-tions automatically, saving you money today.
IRAs-You make the contributions yourself and if you qualifyfor a deduction, you may take it on April 15th. During the interim, your money grows tax-deferred. You may even contribute for anunemployed spouse. Your IRA may be invested in annuities, cer-tificates of deposit or mutual funds.
