DescriptionThe printer seems tobeep during while printing;, there are no errors on the printer panel.

Solution CAUSE: These printers do not have any means to produce an audible warning. The beep is coming from an external source. SOLUTION: Check the power connection and ensure that the printer is not plugged into a battery backup unit or a UPS (Uninterruptible power supply). Theprinter's current draw, required to maintain the fusing temperature, can be enough to cause a UPS to sound an alert. SPECIAL NOTE: Solution contribution by SSD Printer Support

DescriptionWhat is the Beta Software Support Policy?

Solution As an authorized developer for many software suppliers worldwide (Adobe®, Apple™, Microsoft®, etc.) we work closely with these manufacturers toimplement the latest technologies into every one of our products (printers, drivers, utilities, etc.). However, to provide our customers with the highest quality products, it is our policy to distribute or support drivers/software for any new operating system, software application, etc., until the new product is officially released by the manufacture. This also includes non-support of Beta Software. Once the software manufacturer officially releases the final version ofsoftware, we will continue testingthe drivers/utilities on the current product line forcompatibility and functionality with that ‘Official’ software release. When testing and approval have been completed, we will release and support thedrivers/utilities to the public. SPECIAL NOTE : Solution contribution by KMBS Printer Group - Mobile, AL

DescriptionDifferences between PostScript and PCL drivers, and which PCL driver to use.

Solution Differences Between PostScript and PCL Drivers PostScript drivers are more capable than PCL drivers and are more universally supported, however PostScriptoften prints slower than PCL. PostScript canalso not print due to PostScript errors occurring. These errors can be caused by applications, driver settings, or the printer. PostScript printing is generallyused in higher end printing applications where high quality and functionality is required. PCL drivers are separated into two classes, PCL5e and PCLXL. PCL drivers are generally faster, however less functional. When using a PCL5e driver younever see a PDL (Printer Description Language) error printed. PCL5e is generally used in very low end applications and niche applications where theapplication developers did not completely follow Microsoft® Windows printing specification. These applications will generally have a documented PCL printerrequirement. With PCLXL, errors may print similar to PostScript. Like the PostScript errors, these may be caused by the application, user settings, or printer.PCLXL though is more inline with PostScript in regards to capabilities. PCL Support There is a difference between whether or not the printer 'supports' PCL and whether or not we have provided a PCL driver. Most of our Crown printers'support' the PCL emulation, but for only a few of our printers have we written drivers for the PCL language(s). The supported emulations for each printer will be listed on that product's technical specifications page. If PCL is listed on the technical specifications, theprinter supports the emulation (and you should see a reference to it in the printer's panel menu structure somewhere). However, to determine if we have ALSO written a driver, simply check the support page for that printer ... if you don't see any PCL drivers on that printer'ssupport page for the OS you're interested in, then we didn't provide one. NOW ... what to do if we didn't provide a driver. Unless the Answer Base give you hints otherwise ... you are welcome to try any PCL driver provided by anysoftware vendor, and congratulations if it fits your need. However, we will not support any drivers from other software vendors. Note : The latest print drivers are available via the Konica Minolta Download Selector. Access the Selector from the KMBS public site (http://www.kmbs.konicaminolta.us ) Support & Drivers tab or from SSD Web Support (CS Expert Support) by clicking on 'Download MSDS, Drivers,Firmware and more'. DescriptionHow to print from AutoCAD®.

Solution Konica Minoltadoes not create application-specific drivers, therefore we do not have a specific ADI driver for any of our printers. AutoCAD® 14 or AutoCAD® 2000 applications use generic HP® plotters, not a specific driver. The plotter selects which driver you will be using. For Microsoft® Windows Me/98/95, we recommend using the Microsoft® Windows 9x/Me PostScript driver . For Microsoft® Windows 200 0/XP/Vista™ werecommend using the PostScript driver for Microsoft® Windows 2000. For Microsoft® Windows NT 4.0, we recommend using the PostScript driver forWindows NT4. To download these drivers go to the KMBS public site ( http://www.kmbs.konicaminolta.us ) Support & Drivers tab, select Drivers, MSDS &Solutions Software, select your Product Group (Desktop Printers), Product(s), select Drivers and, finally, select your operating environment. You may be ableto select a language option. Download the file to a temporary folder on your PC. You may have to unzip the file (by double-clicking on the downloaded file) before the driver can beinstalled. To open a file using WinZip®, WinZip® should be installed. WinZip® can be downloaded from the WinZip® website: http://www.winzip.com/ddchomea.htm. The file can either be saved to disk or opened. It is recommended to download the ZIP and open from the local computer to view. If there is a different driver used, the user will most likely notice a difference in the time it takes for the printer to spool a job and to print the job. Note :For DeskLaser or W printer models, simply use the GDI driver that comes with the printer. SPECIAL NOTE: Solution contribution by KMBS Printer Group - Mobile, AL

Solution After only a few pages or within a day of being installed in the printer. CAUSE: Toner in the cartridge compacted or unevenly distributed. SOLUTION: If the printer has indicated that the unit is low/empty/depleted, then you need to purchase a BRAND NEW unit and install it. Printing cancontinue even though the warning appears. However, the color gradually fades out, so replace the toner cartridge as soon as possible. Handle the toner cartridges carefully to avoid spilling toner inside the printer or on yourself. The toner is nontoxic. If you get toner on your skin, wash it off withcool water and a mild soap. If you get toner on your clothes, lightly dust them off as best as you can. If some toner remains on your clothes, use cool, not hotwater, to rinse the toner off. Do not hold, stand or store cartridges on their ends or turn them upside down; the toner inside the cartridges may become caked or unequally distributed. CAUTION : Do not use refilled toner cartridges. Any damage to the printer or quality problems caused by a refilled toner cartridge will void your warranty. No technical support is provided to recover from these problems. Will not reset afterinserting a new toner cartridge. CAUSE:An incorrectHigh Capacity toner cartridge (printer type EU or AP) was inserted. SOLUTION: Ensure that thecorrect High Capacity toner cartridge is inserted (AM). Please refer to the following table. Replacing the toner cartridge To replace the toner cartridge: 1. Open the printer front cover. 2. Hold the toner cartridge by the grip, and then pull it out slowly. 3. Take the new toner cartridge out of the box. 4. Holding it firmly with both hands, rock the toner cartridge left and right, forward and backward, to distribute the toner evenly. Do not touch the developingroller of the toner cartridge; otherwise image quality may decrease. 5. Placing the toner cartridge on a flat surface, pull out the seal horizontally. 6. Hold the toner cartridge by the grip, and then insert it into the slot inside the printer. 7. Close the top cover securely. DescriptionMany times the printer does not recognize the brand new toner; the toner status bar in the display shows 100% but after few prints the toner goes down to3%. There is no "Toner near empty" message and the printer is operational.

Solution CAUSE: Toner in the cartridge may be compacted or unevenly distributed. When this happens, the controller receives the near empty signal and changes thetoner remaining to 3%. (3% is the near empty value as controller) Therefore, it actually becomes like 3% even though there is a toner, because a realconsumption level notification is not sent to the controller. Note : Shortly after the toner cartridge is inserted, the toner sensor detects the remaining amount of toner as near empty (3%). The controller resets theremaining amount of toner data when it receives this "near empty" signal. As the agitator works during printer operation, toner will become level in the cartridge, yet the controller is unable to restore this "remaining toner" databecause the printer has no memory (CSIC or I-Chip) to recall the real consumption level. SOLUTION: Prior to inserting a new Toner Cartridge please shake well. Hold it firmly with both hands, rock the toner cartridge left and right, forward andbackward to distribute the toner evenly. Do not touch the developing roller of the toner cartridge; otherwise image quality may decrease. CAUTION : Handle the toner cartridges carefully to avoid spilling toner inside the printer or on yourself. The toner is nontoxic. If you get toner on your skin, wash it off with cool water and a mild soap. If you get toner on your clothes, lightly dust them off as best as you can. If some toner remains on your clothes, use cool, not hot water, to rinse the toner off. Do not hold, stand or store cartridges on their ends or turn them upside down; the toner inside the cartridges may become caked or unequally distributed.
