Join the South Holland Public Library in celebrating future readers with 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Sign up your little ones to participate and choose from a HUGE selection of childrenrsquos titles here at the library Keep track of your progress and win a prize for every 100 books you read to your child

Music in Youth Services

Music and rhythm can assist children with their language and motor skills This helps them learn to read and also helps their eye-hand coordination

Music is also extremely important to the development of language and listening skills Musical activities can improve attention span and expand vocabulary Learning to sing songs with actions helps the child to focus on a task sequence material and link words with actions

For inspiration check out one of the many books or CDs of childrenrsquos songs at the library Sharing both the book and the CD is a great way for you and your child to learn a song together Also sign up your child to attend the Musical Story Go-Round which is a story time that includes stories songs rhythm instruments and movement The next Musical Story Go-Round will be held on April 5 at 200 pm for ages 4mdash7
