I am requesting funding for Sims Bayou Federal Flood Control Project in fiscal year 2009. The entityto receive funding for this project is U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Harris County Flood ControlDistrict, located at 9900 Northwest Freeway, Suite 220, Houston, Texas 77092. The funding wouldbe used for flood damage reduction project wholly within Harris County that uses channelization tosignificantly reduce flood risks. Flood damage reduction is in the national interest by reducing loss oflife, injury and property destruction and reducing emergency and recovery costs. Federal support isnecessary because of the large costs associated with completion of the project. Sims Bayou is a
