Kia ora Pahiatua School Community, This is David Jackson writing this report as I fill in for Lynne over the coming weeks as she is away on sabbatical. Lynne has attended the Visible Learning Conference in Las Vegas and has been sharing some fantastic resources from her experience there. She is now in Ireland inquiring further into the latest theories of learning – in particular Dyslexia and extra resources that our teachers can use. She is keeping in regular contact with us here at school. We have all had a great start to term 3. Students (and teachers!) have come back refreshed, and most have managed to shake those end of term bugs. Just a reminder to parents to get their children here on time, we have had a number of late pupils this week. Ensuring they get the instructions at the same time as everyone else is critical for them to settle into the day well. We are in full launch mode (pun intended) with our Space: The Final Frontier module this term and there is an exciting and engaging buzz around school as the students get into their learning. I encourage you to discuss with your children at home their goals and next steps - they have revisited these at the beginning of the term and have set some goals to reach by the end of the year. Regular conversations around these at school and at home keep them at the fore of their minds. Discussion around their progress so far will keep them engaged and motivated to achieve them. Friday night sport this term is basketball/miniball and is now underway. We have a record number of Pahiatua students in teams this term. Banner sports this term are soccer and basketball, we are on a roll with winning, long may it continue! Have a fantastic week!
