St. Stephen’s and Carrollton were bigsports rivals in school. The teachers had afriendly wager with George on who wouldwin. Whoever loses the game the other per-son would have to buy dinner at Roy’s steakhouse. George lost the bet and had to takeme out to dinner. For the next fifteen dayswe were inseparable. George ask me to mar-ry him and we were married July 9, 1971.
We were blessed with three amazing sons,George, and twins Tim and Tom. Georgeand I raised our family on a forty Arce Farmand vineyard. As a family will loved Polkamusic and baseball! George was in a polkaband and played six different instruments. The boys were talented baseball players andall three played college ball for Howard Jun-ior College in Texas. George and I traveledto Hawaii, Nevada, Texas, and Colorado. I
enjoy crocheting, readingand talking with friendsand family. I have fourbeautiful grandchildren. The two sadness days inmy life were when I lostmy son Tom to leukemiain 2009 and my belovedGeorge after forty fiveyears of marriage in2016. I am looking for-ward to learning moreabout you and creatingnew memories.
Judy H.It’s my honor to share my life story with
you. I was born July 18, 1941 in SaginawMI to Juliana and Vae Kostrzewa. My par-ents were a hard working proud CatholicPolish family. I am the oldest of six children.Family and faith is a very important part ofmy life.
I attended St. Josaphat and St AndrewCatholic schools. When in High School, Iwas very involved as the editor of thenewspaper, cheerleading and on the home-coming court. But I felt the calling fromGod. After graduation in 1961 I entered theAdrian Dominican sisters. During thistime I attended Aquinas College and re-ceived by Bachelor Degree in Education. Iattended graduate courses for my Master’sdegree in Religious Education.
I was not sure if this is the directionGod’s plan was for me so,after ten years I was giv-en a leave of absence andreturned to HemlockMI, to teach at St. Mary’sElementary school. Theholiday was approach-ing and we needed some-one to help with theChristmas program.George was a very tal-ented music and mathteacher from St. StephensSchool. He was willing tohelp with the school’spageant.
