Resumen

Las vicuas han sido un recurso relevante en la economa de laspoblaciones humanas de la regin andina desde hace 10.000 aos hastala actualidad. Sin embargo, la manera en la que estos animales ueron

atrapados contina siendo hasta el momento un interrogante pocoexplorado desde la literatura especializada. Esto se puede explicar debidoa que la interaccin entre humanos y vicuas no se reduce simplementeal control de los primeros, sino que las segundas tambin imponensus decisiones y sus comportamientos complejizando la posibilidadde la caza. Adems, el espacio y la tecnologa tambin juegan un rolrelevante en esta relacin. Es por ello que la cacera de vicuas debe sercomprendida como una red de relaciones que sustent y en la cual sesustentaron estos enmenos en la Puna de Atacama. Pero ahora bien,

cmo podemos analizar estas maniestaciones desde la arqueologa? Unade las opciones ms ricas para enrentar este hecho social es el paisaje,

ya que el mismo es estructurado, organizado, preparado por parte delos cazadores para lograr apropiarse de este recurso. Asimismo, este

paisaje tambin se encuentra demarcado por parte de las vicuas, porejemplo a travs de los caminos que utilizan en repetidas oportunidades

y que son sus vas de escape en caso de encontrarse acorraladas. En estetrabajo pretendemos mostrar algunas huellas de la estructuracin de

este paisaje en el rea del Salar de Antoalla, Depto. Antoagasta dela Sierra, Provincia de Catamarca, Argentina, analizando su relacincon las actividades de caza y proponiendo algunas categoras de anlisisrelevantes para discutir esta problemtica. Pensando el paisaje como un

conjunto de relaciones entre dierentes actores que entran en juego en eldesarrollo de la vida cotidiana, la metodologa que hemos desarrollado

para llevar adelante esta investigacin se basa en la sistematizacin de

la inormacin de prospecciones intensivas de la quebrada de Antoalla,generando un modelo del espacio en el cual se marcan aquellos sectoresaprovechados por los cazadores para atrapar a las vicuas y explicandocmo pueden haber sido estos procesos. En este sentido entran en juegotanto la topograa como los recursos, las evidencias arqueolgicas y lasreas donde se mueven rutinariamente las vicuas.

Vicuas have been a relevant resource in the economy o humanpopulations o the Andes or 10.000 years ago until now. However, theway these animals were trapped continues being up to this moment a very

poorly explored question in specialized literature. Tis can be explaineddue to the act that the interaction between humans and vicuas does notsimply reduce to the control o the rst ones, but that the second ones alsoimpose their decisions and behaviors complicating huntings possibilities.Besides, space and technology also play a relevant role in this relation.Tat is why hunting o vicuas must be comprehended as a sustainednet o relations in which these phenomena were sustained in the Punade Atacama. But now, yet, how can we analyze these maniestations

rom archaeology? One o the richest options in order to deal this socialact is the landscape, due that it is structured, organized, prepared byhunters to achieve the appropriation o this resource. Also, this landscapeis demarcated by the vicuas, or example through the paths they use

repeatedly and which are they ways to escape in case they nd themselvescorralled. In this paper we try to show some o the traces o the structureo this landscape in the area o the Salar de Antoalla, Dpto. Antoagastade la Sierra, Catamarca Province, Argentina, analyzing their relationwith hunting activities and proposing some categories o relevantanalysis in order to discuss these issues. Considering the landscape asa grouping o relations between diferent actors which take place inthe development o everyday lie, the methodology we have developed inorder to carry orward this investigation is based on the systematization

o the inormation o intensive surveys o the Antoalla valley, generatinga model o the space in which the zones exploited by hunters in order totrap vicuas are marked and explaining how this processes could havebeen. In this connection, the topography, the resources, the archaeologicalevidences and the areas where vicuas move daily are taken into account.

del rea. Fue identicada para los primeros momentos de la ocupacin de QS3 (9790-7760AP) y tambin en ocupaciones correspondientes con el grupo cronolgico 2 (Martnez 2003,
